I might be in the minority but this was the least fave jbl series that I've watched. Here are some of my reasons why:
1. I can't feel the enemies-to-lovers trope. As someone who has watched a ton from this kind of trope, this is the first time that I didn't feel the antagonism, despise, rivalry and hate between the two main couples. I am looking for spicier confrontations and teasing.
2. The acting. It was really stiff and unnatural from start to end. I can't feel the emotions of the character that they are trying to portray. But to be fair, Onoe's character is one of the kinds of characters that are hard to portray. I think they should have made some adjustments instead in terms of the delivery style. Even though we can see some can portray the anime-ish kind of acting that we usually get from the vibe of the og or the manga, it won't work all of the time and not every actor can portray it well. Aside from acting, I find too many monologues that it supposed to be voice-over instead because there are moments that they are delivering some confidential lines like no one can hear it.
3. The chemistry. Unexpectedly, the chemistry of the 2 actors can be really seen off cam, I just don't know why I can't see it from the drama. Tbh, I used to talk about the actors during the early episodes because of their acting and chemistry but on second thought, it's not their fault after seeing some of their off-cam moments.
4. Cinematography. I don't like the way they angled their shots. One example was the hugging scene, there is something off for me, it made the scene less romantic and less emotional for me. My other concern was the music. I like the intro song but I am not a fan of the ost instrumental that they used in some parts that affect the vibe of the scene.
5.. The plot. The execution is a little bit messy for me. I thought it will get better already when Inami's character showed up but they just romanticized Inami's character because what he did was pure evil whatever the motives were. There is no intense climax as well. I believe that episode 7 was already the climax and I really find it underwhelming.
Good points: actors visuals, intro song
Overall (or conclusion): Like what my one friend (tw moot) said, "I don't hate it but I'm disappointed". I gave it a chance until the end and I hoped (for real) that it would get better every time when I finish an episode. Because in the end and as someone who is a fan of jbls more than the other bls from other countries, I am happy to see every bls celebrate their success for giving a high-quality produced story
This is the last of the line up for the drama shower but I hope they keep giving more after it ends... jp bl is…
Oh, is it really the last of the lineup? Tbh, I kind of didn't expect this, some also said from my japanese moot that AmePara would be already their last. But hoping this would turn out good and continue this lineup
The trailer itself already looks really good. I also feel like that this would be like a "fake amnesia" like I usually saw from other stories but I hope they don't take that route because that kind of twist usually get complicated in the later part
Nevertheless, I am hoping this would turn out good and satisfy our expectations, and I believe to the main leads that they will deliver a really promising and well acting as I've seen them already from their previous series
I actually don't have anything to say in terms of cinematography and it's actually one of the best cinematography that I've seen from the series I watched but the cinematography alone was not enough to justify if this series is really good.
I love the first half of the series until they came to that decision that ruined the whole series. It is a kind of serious decision that the characters didn't think about, Eiji is already an adult, and it obviously doesn't guarantee that they will get the acceptance by Eiji's dad. Moreover, I don't get the purpose why Mieko did try it as well to Makio, if it turned out to be Makio's baby, the outcome is even worse I think. Based on Eiji's dad's characterization, I don't think he will be going to accept a baby that isn't his grandson in blood. I actually have nothing against stories that depict what usually happens in real life (or lgbtq+ life) but this decision is also something that you would think carefully about in real life
This is like a downgrade version of Life Senjou for me, and Eiji was like a downgrade version of Akira. They really messed up the characters as well
It is just that I feel sorry for the whole outcome because it really has the potential to be a really good series.
I watched this one month ago and just decided to make a comment here. And to be honest, I dropped this while it was airing. It's not my favorite jbl series and I think it needs more naturality in terms of acting. It's also kind lost its appeal from the last few episodes. There were also some decisions from the story that could make it better, I prefer if Shin chose to go to Tokyo and study there. It's just the farewell letter lost its essence and the resolution of the climax part made that a little bit petty.
But I really want to praise how they handle the age gap issue here. Akira waited for Shin to be of legal age
As much as I want this series to get better. I think this couldn't be saved anymore. Though I can see a very light improvement, the acting from the latest episode is still stiff, and I can't still feel the chemistry between the two actors.
I also don't like it whenever they deliver their inner monologues into speaking. I don't get why Onoe needs to voice out his inner thoughts (monologue) like in the scene in the interview when the idol is touching Kaburagi's abs? and seriously, no one can hear Onoe is saying. Another example was from episode 2, when Onoe is spying on the yakuza guy which is a dangerous situation and he is speaking what he is thinking. I am just not a fan of this style of acting. They should just record the inner monologues because it feels so unnatural.
I will still give this a chance, but seriously I still hoping that this would get better, though I am thankful for the number of jbls that MBS is giving, I feel like they should focus more on the quality than the quantity for the next lineup
I just watched the released episodes of Ameiro Paradox. Honestly, I don't know if I just being nitpicky because the last japanese bl series that has just completed prior to this was done and executed so well and beautifully to the point that it dethroned all my top bls. As much as I don't want to leave a comment for the series that I don't have much of anything good things to say, I just can't help it and I am really not liking this so far.
I'm aware already of the negative comments regarding the acting. But I think the major factor that affects Onoe's acting the most is something from his voice, dialogue, and delivery of lines that somehow is not working, it's a little childish which I don't really find that cute. Some of his expressions as well are not really natural, it's like he has just only one expression, the only part that I could appreciate just a little bit is when he is cramming, it's a little bit cute
For Kaburagi, hmmm, I need a little more fire and aggressiveness like from the few chapters I've read in the manga. The acting was a little stiff for me. Both of them can't really deliver the personality that the characters need. I can't feel the intimidation that I want as enemies from them and there is no chemistry at all, it feels so forced
Aside from the awful acting, I think there is nothing really something special or interesting that will make you hook on the plot and storyline so far. There are also some silly and stupid moments too that I feel like they intended to be funny but somehow it's not working.
This is really different from the japanese bls that I've watched and looking for the vibe I've seen from the previous jbls.

But like what Micchan's dad said "You don't have to force yourself to heal" π
