Title Temperature of Love Spoiler
First impression:

They were a little stiff at first the main leads, but the dialogue (fall for me, wanting to hold hands as they ran) and the rain (thank you Asian drama land for always having a rain scene for my romantic heart) moved things along well. I loved him in that denim shirt too (hubba, hubba).

Something about his hair bugs me. I wish it wasn't so heavy in his face (loved it wet), but he has very expressive eyes at times, and that really helps. I was drawn to his lips too. I don't know what it is about Asian male actors, but half the time I'm staring at their lips. I never thought about lips before watching dramas. Honestly, I think if they pulled the hair out of his face it would help the age difference, but, alas, we're going for the heavy bangs look it seems.

I just kind of wish we had the backstory of them online because it seems that's where he may have started to like her. I hope they do visit that.

I laughed that she is directionless because that's me in the worst way even where I live (worst feeling ever), and then, as the writer wrote, she panics. I could relate that right there, so it made her more human that and her awful boss (WTF).

Her BFF seems like she's gonna get the funny dialogue because she's already a sassy one.

I like that Wook's character isn't some chaebol jerk that treats people poorly. He just seems to be looking for something new to do in his life, and who doesn't like a true foodie. I think he will loosen up as we go along as well as he did in Bad Guy which I thought he was fabulous in. He looked so gooooood, and I love his I guess secretary? I don't know who that is, but he was really cute and likable as was that doctor. :)

My one worry is that the leads are quite serious, so they're going to need to add in some dialogue to lessen that I feel, or people won't stick around for long if it's all heavy. I think Wook/secretary could have some funny scenes if they write it like we saw with Gun in Fated with his secretary. The younger male cuties so far are adding all of the less heavy dialogue, but the leads need to do the same IMHO. The sister is kind of meh to me, and that mother is gonna be a trouble maker no doubt about it.

If you love Zhang Vin, then, IMHO you will love this drama. I can't really be positive about much else with it, and I would suggest just watching him mostly in it because it mostly does mimic the original just ruins the characterization of them. I painstakingly tried to watch all of it, and in the end, I wish I had just watched who I did enjoy which was Zhang Vin’s character and some of the supporting cast. The main leads were a disaster for me.

It fell flat so many times with the main lead couple, and I think that is because whoever bought the rights was so determined to make the characters different from the original ones that it ruined what made them so lovable to me in the Korean drama for me at least. For me there are a few pivotal scenes, and none of them were close to being as good as the Korean version, and it got rather depressing hoping and waiting and just be disappointed repeatedly, but Zhang Vin always kept drawing me back in with those gorgeous eyes and insane charisma.

I won't over nitpick, but truly, I could write a book on what I didn't care for in this drama. I'll just say Yi Mu is adorable as can be, and you will fall in love with this character and this actor (first time I saw him and very impressed).

Oddly enough, you will probably root even more for him with the female main lead than you did if you watched the Korean version, which a lot of people adored Siwon, but I think it's upped a level that second lead syndrome here, and I was very much happy with the HEA in the Korean version even though I did enjoy Siwon’s character.

This version on the other hand at one point I asked myself who is in love here anyways, so I think that says a lot about why this didn't work for me. The whole basis of the drama is to pull me in to this fated love story, but in the end, I just saw her almost settling which was weird.

I love this drama. I think Joanne has a knack for playing a vulnerable character although she has versatility and can go the other route if you've seen Marry Me, or Not as well. BTW that's an amazing drama if you haven't seen it.

I just think the mixture of humor and serious tones really makes this a nice end of the summer drama to watch, and it just drew me in right away. I know people are comparing it to Playful Kiss or the kiss franchise, but I think the lead is definitely a cut above those just because there's a story behind him versus those guys were just cold for no reason.

With Wook in it, I think he can make anything work which is why I can't fathom why he's still a second…
I couldn't get past the first 15 minutes of Memory Love for some reason. It just lost me right away after their scene in the airport which is unusual for me. I will probably try it again after it's finished as I do love Attention Love, and I am okay with an epi a week. I think they put a lot into those episodes which I appreciate.

I haven't watched Golden yet as I am enjoying Man thus far. I know why a lot of people aren't, but I think there's a bigger story there in the end with that angle. As far as my main couple lead, I love those two. They are so refreshingly cute, and I think most can relate to Ru Ri's troubles of being directionless and not knowing her place in life.

Yeah, everyone had a horrible case of SLS (second lead syndrome) with Strongest, and as I said, I think it's because Kang Soo wasn't really open and truly vulnerable even though he was a good guy (dead eyes too), and then, you had the jerk in Jin Gyu who was the opposite vulnerable, dimples making you unable to stop staring and smiling like a fool, funny, charming, so it was confusing for a while.

Yes, around epi 10 is when you feel the change (that hair change didn't hurt either let's be honest). That was when I said there's my Kyung-pyo, so I guess they wanted to play it that way, but it was kind of a shock to the system when I've never seen him play such a role. I don't know if I wouldn't gone that route for his first main lead role, but it worked out in the end. :)

I love the second leads are having their own relationship apart from the first leads which is what I really want for Temperature as well. I also noticed that first lead female smiled more with Wook? Just odd to me how the main leads are interacting as if there's nothing there. Gloomy type makes me nervous BTW for a longer drama. lol

Title Man Who Sets the Table Spoiler
One positive is I adore the main lead couple. Jung/Ru Ri really have a nice chemistry together. I do like the fact there's a mystery kind of story, and I get a lot of people probably despise the father rightfully so. However, I pray this is about his journey to become a better man, husband and father in the end. I like that the mother stands up for herself which let's face it that isn't a regular occurrence in a lot of dramas. Ru Ri I can identify with as I've been in a point in my life where I felt lost and needed to reboot my life as a whole, so I think that angle is refreshing as well. I like the second younger family as well.

I watched Potato Star and made it through it, and it was much worse IMHO with the annoying factor. We'll see how it goes after a few more episodes, but I have faith my main couple is going to be highlighted a lot because I think they figured out people do gravitate towards them while watching it.

Again, I saw more energy with Jong/Bo Ah which is weird. He seems so subdued for a lead to me at least in the press conference, and she is very quiet as well. I don't know what I'm expecting either TBH, but I was hoping something would click already.

Never seen Bo Ah before, but she already had me grinning in her small clip with Se Jong. I'm hoping they get better as I watch the actual drama, and I feel some chemistry. It feels kind of forced at the moment, but really, I'm judging that on a few tiny clips which isn't fair to them, so I'm saying I'm taking a wait and see approach.

Yeah, I'm def looking forward to seeing Siwon as well!

As far as chem, you should check out Man Who Sets The Table. Now those two have got it in spades, and I also think Attention Love is another good one (Taiwanese drama). Strongest Deliveryman is making a nice comeback as well (gosh that second lead there never seen him before, but he is adorable). Kyung's character was suffering from dead eyes for a while, but now we see the guy I have loved in everything else finally.

SunIn was rushed even with the happy ending, but they had a nice chemistry even if it felt secondary to everything once they started past the point of no return. What I do enjoy about Thai BL dramas is that they tackle falling in love with the person versus just merely labeling gay or bi or other because I think that is kind of not addressed well most of the time. Plus, with a bisexual individual, there could be a real struggle with being torn, and I think the shows take an honest look at that.

I honestly had a bit of an issue with the guy who played the nerd as far as seeing him with with the female lead, and I think it could be the age difference. I just wasn't feeling him in that aspect. I liked the bullying topic, and it was honestly pretty much on point IMHO. People do tend to turn a blind eye because we don't want to be ostracized or next in line during those young years.

I am eager to see the actors who played Copper/Peach in something else together. That last scene sold me on their chemistry. Also, I really like that actor that played Pong. He had a charisma that was hard to ignore.

With Wook in it, I think he can make anything work which is why I can't fathom why he's still a second lead, but I digress on that point. I just do not want to see his character pining away again like he did in Bad Guy. I really hated that first lead female by the end of that. I loved the balance of dark and light he brought to that role though, and I'm hoping we see the same with this one.

I know of the other leads, but I have yet to see them in anything. I'll be honest I didn't feel a lot from their interactions in clips so far which makes me a tad nervous, but I am watching this alone for Wook, so I'll just have to grin and bear it if there's nothing good there.

Writers, it's okay if the second leads fall for each other while scheming. We'd rather that just a word to the wise.

On You Are My Destiny Sep 17, 2017
Title You Are My Destiny Spoiler
I have read the majority of the comments here, and it's funny how people who love this drama really love it (include me in that list), and we almost have this fervor about it because we love it that much. I was supposed to watch the Taiwanese version first, but I accidentally watched this one first as my friend recommended Fated to me. I was on a Rainie/Mike He marathon session, and she said you must watch Fated.

It was my FIRST Korean drama, and I can safely say now it's my favorite for a multitude of reasons.

First, I, too, said who is this Gun character, and why is he laughing like a maniac when I first saw it? Yeah, that lasted until this man rescued Kim Mi Young in that hotel. It was in that moment I started to pay attention more to this man and start to see there were layers to him.

One layer is that laugh, and I understand it's Jang Hyuk signature kind of thing, but I think with Gun you'll notice the laugh is sort of something to mask his insecurities at times. When he feels unsure about something or unable to face it and wants to bring out his bravado, that laugh is gonna happen. It's a way to relieve how he's feeling without saying a word.

So starting with the hotel scenes, I saw the little sparks, and he was making sure she could save face. Okay, Gun, you have me now, so sell me on the rest. Soon enough it was all there starting with his innocent jealousy towards Daniel (band aid scene anyone) and then putting her in bed and unable to help himself and crawling in there too. The way he romanced her made my heart skip a beat just as it did Kim Mi Young's in the drama.

Is it cliche? Maybe it is, but the actors took it and made it so sincere and romantic that you felt it right along with them.

BUT just you wait until you get to that time jump, and if you don't fall in love with this character, this man, this actor, please tell me why. I'm from the United States, and men here in dramas when the woman is gone, they usually cheat. They aren't going to pine away for that love. They aren't going to make a shrine to that love (as well as their child they lost). They aren't going to secretly follow that love's life like we saw in this (the texting scenes I can't put into words how something so simple was so beautiful to me). I have so many favorite scenes after the time jump that I just love to say wait for the time jump because it's then that love becomes something you can't put into words.

You call that cliche, but I call that romance, the kind I read growing up that I think I didn't realize I craved again until I started with this drama. We're starved here in America because it's a lot of tragedy, cheating and very little HEA around here. It's really sad that we beg for what is given freely in Asia. I really feel we're being tortured after watching these dramas.

Anyways, back to the good stuff, so I'm already so in love with Gun that everything he does to me is perfect, but, oh, no, he adds that final layer which is his relationship with his ex-MIL. I'm sorry, but Gun's second love affair is with his MIL, and it is absolutely beautiful. I mean just talking about it I get a little teary eyed because there' s something very special about Hyuk and how he brings you back to the emotions you felt the first time you see a scene every time you watch it. He has this childlike innocence in these scenes with her that just touch me so deeply.

He really needed love in his life in the form of parents, and you saw that right away, but after that time jump, you feel it in your soul how much he wanted it. His grandmother was one thing, but this is the mother he barely had.

Oh, gosh, I'll be honest when Kim Mi Young told him to stop seeing her, I was so mad at her. How dare you do that to him! lol To say I was hooked on him was an understatement.

Also, this drama had amazing music that IMHO was used beautifully to highlight the already beautiful acting that we got to see time and time again. The scene where Kim Mi Young watches the video for instance being one of them or when they meet up at the press conference for another. Ailee could be sued for ripping my heart out of my chest though. :P

I've seen this about four times roughly and that's not counting the numerous videos and clips I've watched even not subbed because once you feel that emotion, it's forever in your heart like a memory that won't ever die. Ha, ha, I guess I'm cliche as well. Sappy is better than misery waiting for the HEA that never comes.

And that's the other part I love is the HEA. I have been introduced to kdramas where they don't happen, and I'm still reeling over Cheese and Scarlet Heart Ryeo. There is a hole there that I need closed, but alas, I don't see that happening any time soon.

NOW this drama it gave me the HEA. It gave me a cute beginning, a, yes, sometimes hard to watch but beautifully written and acted middle and that gorgeous ending. I couldn't be happier or more pleased with these two.

If it's the laugh, as all of us have said (my friend said the same thing who is in love with Gun now), just give it a little time, and look at that laugh in perspective rather than be overly critical of it. Truly, once you fall for the character, you don't even do anything but laugh along with him as you cry with him and smile with him.

Gun is a beautiful multi-layered man, and Jang Hyuk, I swear he put a spell on me that to this day still exists. Nara is the perfect innocent, sweet Kim Mi Young, but after the time jump the characters kind of trade spots where he's the one pining away, and she's the strong one who is being chased. I think that's another beautiful part of this is that role reversal.

And, yes, I finally did see the Taiwanese version. If you want to see the American version of it, that's what they give you with it. He is practically with the second lead the entire time. He is almost cruel towards her at times which was very hard to take in comparison to Gun who was scared of his snail more than anything. The slapstick comedy goes completely overboard, and he keeps making the same freaking mistakes time and time again. It's just do you really love her at some points.

The end finally it's cute and endearing, but I've just endured how many episodes just to get two that don't make me cringe or sigh. No offense to those actors as they are younger than the kdrama version, but they're just not the type to be able to draw you in enough to get past the horrible writing. It's the same story just set up differently where the romance IMHO is lost along the way.

Truly, it’s set up how most should be set up if you’re looking for the romantic in the end feel good drama. I compare Gun to Father Is Strange’s Ahn. I think Joon and Hyuk both tackled very difficult sometimes off the wall eccentric characters, and in the end, I fell in love with both of them. Ah, yes, I’m recommending that drama as well as it hits all the beats for a 50+ episode drama I’ve been looking for since watching a few of them, and again, the romance is beautiful in it as well as the family aspect of it.
