Well, evidently you're not ,since one other person seems to feel that way. But I fully disagree. I found the book…
nowhere in my comment did I say I did not like the drama....lol. what I did not like was revealing the backstory in the last few episodes. I agree this drama was well produced, very visually appealing and the music was fantastic to say the least. I have to say I thoroughly loved the music, one of the best albums I've heard in a cdrama in a while. The acting was good too. It was just the plot that I wasn't quite feeling :)

someone recommended me this drama saying it's good but seeing that episode count has me scratching my head. that's unbelievably long for a kdrama (or at least, for a 2021 kdrama anyway). and all the comments has me rethinking my decision to watch this

You are not wrong. I am so used to Chinese dramas having slow start, that I usually skip through several first…
You're right, the plot does revolve around their love and choosing between duty and love. I realized that after writing my comment. I guess I'm so used to there being more action that a little bit of a more subtle plot line was kinda lost on me and made it feel like something was missing

hard to give a review after the plot reveals itself when there wasn't much of a plot in the first place lol

Finally someone said what I was thinking! This drama really didn't have much of plot. Even at the halfway point of the drama you don't really know where the story is headed because there's no plot. There wasn't any force pushing the plot forward. For most of the show we just see the leads spending time roaming around the three realms not doing much of anything, until the villain comes in which happens very late.
On The Legend of Shen Li Jul 6, 2024
Surely I'm not the only one who feels like there isn't much of a plot to this story, especially so in the first half of the show? Sure, there's some intrigue, some mystery, but it felt like there wasn't much of a force moving the plot forward. For the first half of the show it's like we're just watching the leads roam around the three realms just doing stuff. I couldn't really tell where the story was headed towards because it felt like there was no plot.

Towards the second half, we start to see the bad guy appearing and we have some fights. That's where we start to get some action and then the story moves on from there...Revealing the backstory in the last couple of episodes seems to be a trend now and I honestly don't like it at all

someone help meee😭 I cannnot get through after 2 episodes... But everyone is saying it's good😭 I really…
Honestly, I kinda feel you because this drama was very hyped but...after I started watching, I really didn't get why it was hyped up so bad lol. I have finished watching it and I would say the drama isn't all that bad but it's not worth the hype? If i may say so. Most of the action takes place in the second half of the drama I guess and plot just moves away from the very happy, light-hearted feel that you get in the beginning. The beginning feels very wack (although funny) but it slowly moves away from that in the later part of the drama where there seems to be a bit more of a plot...

Yup, pretty much. I have no qualms calling an older woman I know kakak but no way in hell am I gonna call an older guy I know (non-family) abang because that's so gedik 🥴

I was watching the drama wondering who will die at the end, Hae In or Hyun Woo but I guess you're right. They'll just make an ending the viewers like and people don't like reality.

It's the fact that the drama just went off-course halfway. It went from being a slice of life story about a failed marriage to a makjang. The plot revolves around the failed marriage but it was never fully explained why it failed. *sigh* my friends were really hyping this drama up. I guess they were just hyping up the good looks of the cast, they forgot the story.

Not to mention, the overuse of tropes and cliches. This drama is basically a compilation of every kdrama trope and cliche scene ever.

I've never watched The Untamed so I can't comment on that, but same, I only watched this for Zhao Li Ying honestly. The first episode was already giving me strange vibes but I pushed through for her. Was it worth it though? No, not at all.

yes the cliches thing! this drama wasn't entirely bad but i just couldn't with how they pretty much inserted like practically EVERY SINGLE K DRAMA CLICHE SCENE EVER. like stawp.

and one thing i hate about kdramas is how they always try to create some kind of childhood connection to make it seem like it's "meant to be", it was "destiny"....like, sometimes it's not that deep...and with this story it felt like they were trying to hammer on this point to really make it seem like they were meant to be. when in reality the relationship was mostly just hyun woo. hae in barely even does anything to contribute to the relationship lol.

and yeah, the fact that their marriage fell apart because of the miscarriage yet the drama just casually glosses over it like? they never unpacked the trauma, never talked it out. just spelled it out as misunderstandings in the last episode. what was the point???

That sucks but I guess good on them for choosing better production teams. Hopefully we don't have to experience another PA torture

Yeah, the second half of the drama was just focused on Yan Xun's story to the point that ZLY as the main character was being sidelined. He just took over as the main character. The entire second half was badly done and the ending was just rushed (if you can call it an ending).

I did not know about the copyright issue though. I only heard that the drama adapted only the first half of the novel.

Most people are happy enough to live in their ignorant world where China is a homogenous country lol. The world is a lot more diverse than people think. Even seemingly homogenous countries are not really homogenous, it's just that the minority groups are not so well known in the mainstream outside world

to be fair, i once sent my laptop for servicing to get the battery replaced and they actually asked for my password. and it wasn't a random shop too, it was the laptop company's official service / repair shop
