So a little "different" movie compared to tons of others. Light, gentle and touching, sad ... Describing human destinies, the weight of life, desire. The music is pleasant, often in perfect harmony with the film images, I was also interested in the processing, as well as the moving story of the cousin - the character was played by Austin (Po Hung) Lin, who as one of the two main actors is not listed in the Details. The film, although not completely new, can still appeal to many viewers.

Tak trošku "jiný" film oproti tunám ostatních. Lehký, jemný i dojemný, smutný ...

Hardly anyone will understand this movie the first time. I didn't understand much either. And this, I think, is the biggest disadvantage of the entire film, when from the outside it seems unclear, rambling, but at the same time it tells us so much. This piece requires reading about it BEFORE and watching it a second, third time and not immediately condemning it. So I give it, even if I rate it decently overall, "REALLY NOT RECOMMENDED", because many people just want to quickly watch it, skim through it, and I don't take seriously the opinions that the film is only about the physical dimension. I understand that the film has a lower rating on world servers, because heterosexuals did not give it because of the complexity and 100% gay component. That's why I give the Story the lowest rating for the targeted "outrageousness". It is based on the theme of a Chinese novel from the 18th century. Dream of the Red Chamber, which is also the second title of the film, transformed the story from the Chinese imperial court into the present day and the current capital of Taiwan, so it must adhere to certain prescribed rules (more characters, not creating a comprehensive dramatically graduated plot, etc.). That it is such a deliberately non-story and its development can be read by everyone, I liked the film after the third viewing, there are several gaps in it that the viewer can guess and it shows gays as they are without napkins (not all of them are saints, faithful to one partner until death, do not smoke, drink, or fart). There is beauty, love, hope, selfishness, ignorance, irresponsibility, ruin, sickness, death, just everything that life brings. As the greatest strength of the film, I cite the fact that the cast played it extremely well, humanly, UNTWISTED. Now I don't mean that most of the actors were handsome Taiwanese including the main trio of Josh, Lin, Sean, which is true, that's an added bonus. One of the main roles (Lin) was played by the star of the great series Dark Blue and Moonlight (this series is also shown here on MDL) - Eric Chen. I wanted to give a nine for the processing, but I reduced it by one for the fact that many scenes were dark, dark, I know that was the intention of the creators, but it made me uncomfortable.

I was a little annoyed that the Thais blew it with how much the two hated each other to begin with and were constantly beating each other up. Love and hate are close to each other, but the battles... But otherwise, one of the best shorter series. Both main characters are absolutely perfect in physical appearance and played their roles very well, even though they were actually a couple of years out of college. In general, Thais can work a lot at that age. When June told Pete and Kao that Sun, the cafe owner, was older than them, Sun was actually the youngest of the four (Sun = Pod and I know him best as Tonhon from the Tonhon Chonlatee series). Another asset of the miniseries was that it didn't split into other delays. Excellent workmanship.

Very strange movie

Even now I can't recover from it ... the film raises so many questions and the viewer has many feelings and thinks about it ... The film is definitely not for everyone (many will definitely condemn it, on the contrary, I appreciate almost every film that touches of our otherness), but even though he is Asian, this time he is neither naive nor affected as an actor... STORY: in the first third of the plight of a boy who escaped from the dictatorial north and a girl originally from China, but of Korean origin, who are afraid return deportations, the second third completely different with no connection to the first - a young boy and a rich businessman and the third third - the fates of both boys intersect and ... ACTING PERFORMANCE: excellent, especially for all three male roles (I evaluate from an Asian point of view) SOUND: average , there is less musical component of undertones, apparently on purpose PROCESSING: refined, irritating, may even annoy many viewers (sometimes lengthy, out of focus, sometimes grainy, hand-held camera) OVERALL IMPRESSION: I am torn (disappointed by the end of the story, moved by the fate of the North Korean - after all, Jun could to defend at the end, but apparently he already gave up, I am surprised by the "beauty" of the rich businessman - in the love scene it is often hard to tell who is "young" and who is "old", he looks physically good), but overall a positive impression prevails, but at the same time and thoughts about the fate of thousands of such people in the south of the Korean peninsula.

Complex excellent film

I didn't read the reviews and played the movie and after a while I wanted to delete it because I thought it was like snot dragging crap. I haven't done it yet!!! A difficult film and not for everyone... to perceive, to watch, but once you get on the ropes, you already know for sure that this is a completely extraordinary film. I'm still thinking about it, and the more and with the distance (I saw it two days ago), the higher I want to give it, and I gradually realize how much the creators of this film actually conveyed through the slow shell of processing. Relatively boring, dragging plot, impersonal and cold relationships, recurring pacific monsoons... and a high rating from me and you can judge me all you want.

Excellent movie

In the beginning, I watched a "politically motivated" movie, the communist faction, and I thought that it wouldn't be for me. And damn it was.
You have to work your way through that beginning. Politics gradually disappeared from the screen during the story and the deep life story of Jun (the great Sid Lucero, whom I also know from the excellent Filipino film Selda) came to the fore, as I followed him gradually over the years and other main characters include Errol and Roland (here on MDL, these characters are not mentioned by mistake) and the other secondary roles are also etched in my memory. When I thought about the political development of the Philippines and watched the GAY LINE OF THE STORY in particular, and we all know that in the past people of minority orientation did not have it easy (often even today), it was quite a strength, a deep experience. I understand that, for example, older generations will be put off by the "communist" beginning and or the heterosexual gay line, when the actors had to submit to quite sexually explicit scenes (somewhere I'm confused whether the Philippine censors didn't even ban or cut out a part in 2010), which were very convincing, I didn't mind that the creators couldn't "age" Errol more towards the end of the film, it didn't detract from the deep story, after all, Errol's older son at the end of the film was actually a year older than his "dad". A really powerful experience for me and it's a shame that 13 years ago technology wasn't at such a high level and the film has an "old" look ...

Repulsion and attraction

Repulsion and attraction ... that's how I would characterize this "long" short film. However, forcing favor in such a way was too much for me, and I did not celebrate the very end in my mind as much as the other viewers. But it was played very solidly, above all I appreciated the character of the teacher, who found herself in a rather unsolvable situation. The second cheeky character of the student was also portrayed very well, but I didn't trust the "minor" so much when in reality he was ten years older. An above-average film for its time.

WONDERFUL SERIES

This very special, visceral series, elaborated in detail, caught my attention right from the beginning. Processing one or two levels higher than other series from this area, especially the fights seemed more than precise, truly. Sky and Sun, two young men, so different in origin, in addition to the side couple Bank - Pitch and neither the two girls who did not act like bushes in the series - even though they actually played the poor girls (and with Toktaeng, almost no one would have guessed her real age , partly also at Pitch-e 😛, that's the "secret" of the Thais...). I evaluate comprehensively how the entire series affected me, I overlook the little things compared to the whole (the "bad" mobster, the final completely unnecessary separation of several years) which are unimportant, I don't need to prove my smallness by constant criticism. On the other hand, Sky, who is controversial as an actor for some viewers, also attracted me, in an original way, in a different way, with his strange facial expressions, the fact that he actually looks completely ordinary, I believed him. Absolutely great experience for me.

It rarely happens that a two is as good as a one. Here it succeeded. And most importantly, there are no more drastic scenes, even though they were reminiscent in retrospect, and even though it's an erotic film, I actually felt sorry for the main character, who had two names...

God, this is incredible, what kind of lakorn is this, set in the first third of the 20th century, when the Japanese occupied Siam at the time. Read the description in the previous review by Barka, I'll just emphasize that the story must have been invented and written by the devil himself. We are in a time when the world did not wish other people, we are in the time of a Chinese clan operating in the territory of Siam, and the intrigues are so terrible, so surprising and every ten minutes they turn in a way that you do not expect. Absolutely no boredom, grown-up, no school kids. I thought to myself, I'll take a look at the first part and then I'll probably wait for the translation to be completed, but somehow it's still not happening, and after the first part, which is such an introductory piece, I just took a look at the second part. But that was a mistake! There it started in such a way that I devoured the series in three days. And that it is a pack, 17 parts of 70 to 75 minutes each! In addition to the intrigues and surprising plot twists, it is also a sky-high drama, mystical and sometimes even tragic (see the mushrooms), but that doesn't bother me, I also don't blame fairy tales for the story because they are partly fictional, everything was done so that the viewer, especially Thai , he didn't get bored. But on the other hand, beautiful visuals, a great theme tune and a song by NuNew that has 66 million views on YT and excellent acting in the Thai way. I was captivated by the beautiful sibling love, while the mothers scheming the ostopero, the younger brother, the brawler Yang, was every inch a symposus, the equally beautiful Jiu, who gradually fell in love with Thian, who was expected to succeed the clan leader, as well as both wives and one mistress the existing Song fruit and their two butler maids. A great experience for those who understand why it is filmed and made the way it is. The current rating on MDL 8.3 and IMDb 8.5 speaks for itself, who doesn't like Asian lakorns - I don't recommend it, others do!

A film about abandonment, the search for love and the straightening of family relationships. The story takes place in a quiet area of the Japanese countryside, in contrast to the roaring cauldron of the world's largest megapolis of thirty million people, Greater Tokyo. One could say a simple story, and at the same time so FUNDAMENTAL, full of humanity, humanly acted and the processing was also above average. I recommend it to all viewers who know what life brings or can bring behind somersaults. Even the rating on MDL is one of the highest ever. The story will stay with me for a long time.
Probably forever........

Film o opuštěnosti, hledání lásky a narovnání rodinných vztahů.

This film is banned in Vietnam

I didn't watch this strange film from a poor mining area the first time. I didn't have enough self-discipline and attention for a style that reminded me of Taiwanese director Ming-liang Tsai-e (whose films I've seen). And yet I won't immediately condemn the film in my review because of that, let others do that. It was only on the second viewing, when I got into the dream-hypnotic pace, that I began to perceive it more attentively, and it is necessary for this story told in this style to first "mature" in me and for the past to connect with the present and future. In addition to the director, I would also appreciate both actors in the lead roles from my point of view. This film is banned in Vietnam

A film that has something in it...

A film that has something in it that I can't exactly define from my inner perspective, gentle, light and essentially simple, about the beauty of life and individual moments, fragments of life that are not always completely clear. I perceive it not as a short film, it is exactly on the border (40 min), but as a feature film, which was also awarded at the Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival in 2021. I also appreciate that the guys were chosen realistically, they are not handsome guys from a poster and I don't mind the slightly open ending at all, on the contrary, I like the film and its mood ...

A beautiful inner experience.

For me, it's not a movie called Balloon Landing, but it will always be Bay of the Vanishing Whales, and when I watched it for the first time, only the second half of the film made everything clear, and then when I watch the project for the second time, I perceive everything from a different angle. The Japanese film Dangerous Drugs of Sex, where there are explicit sex scenes, is completely different, like this fantasy film with only one random kiss, where everything is on the level of the inner character and the viewer, but still both films have something in common ... first they save each other, so that in the end the second one saves the first one. For some viewers, and they write about it on world servers, it's not BL just because they don't fuck and there are no bed scenes, for me and many others it's a deep and inner film about two wounded beings and hidden homosexuality (I don't see it only as a bromance), because love has many forms and it's practically on the same wavelength as the Taiwanese project The On1y One, where there's also no physical contact. Excellent acting, beautiful scenery of southern Taiwan and modern Hong Kong, a handkerchief at the end and I will return to the film... and an amazing fresh spark in the form of actor Fandy Fan and a great performance by Hong Konger Terrance Lau. A beautiful inner experience.

I didn't recognize the actor Wei Lie Jin at all, who plays one of the main roles in the tender series DNA Says Love You, which we have here translated into Czech. In this short, he plays a boy who falls in love with a lifeguard and has to deal with his feelings. I also see a Taiwanese aborigine (lifeguard Da Han) in the film for the first time. However, the sexual awakening is without romance in this short, as the lifeguard is straight and the story revolves mainly around the main character and his self-discovery of his own orientation, falling in love and how to cope with all of this under the supervision of his strict father, with whom he runs a Chinese medicine and acupuncture practice. In addition, the film ends without salt, without fat for the audience who will expect a fairy tale ending, but the very end, when Yun Wu swims away from the place where he was drowning at the beginning, symbolically meant for me that he realized his self, began to respect himself and continues strengthened into his next young life, and that's what I appreciate about the film, even if the project doesn't have a top ten rating.
