totally agree and so did the award presenters the year it came out... it won 4 of the 8 it was nominated for and for good reason! I'm doing a re-watch now!
I am cosidering watching this but I keep reading comments that the ending is unsatisfying, so I want to ask: do…
The ending was great! Just not the steamy love scene we've seen from Rowoon before. That would have been out of character for his straight laced, newly emerging Prince character, in my opinion.
The crown prince is the 14-year-old that married one of the daughters.
It was an interesting choice, wasn't it? I read captions so I think that seeing the names in print helps me sort them better. I also wonder if it was deliverate since it was very much a movie about women and their roles in the important events happening around them. Maybe it was a deliverate choice to leave out as many men as they could and focus on all the different female characters more? His mother, the consort or concubine, got screen time, but he didn't.
The crown prince is the 14-year-old that married one of the daughters.
he was the king's concubine' ls son. they never show him, but the whole reason the crazy power couple were trying to put him in the throne instead of the legitimate crown prince, is because he was their nephew. the concubine was one of those crazy people's sister. I think the woman's. So, separate character and never onscreen.
Ah! So good! Not as light and fluffy as I expected, so I'm a little emotional. A good example of how you can portray love and its complexities without overtly steamy romance. Not that there's anything wrong with great kissing scenes and Rowoon has done some good ones. So many interesting plot devices and unusual scenarios that every episode was good. 16 episodes seemed too short!
So many of the things I love: my bias from Monsta X, X from Exo, a little Crash Landing on You, how can you go wrong watching this cute drama? A funny plot, sinister bad guy, a bit of reform for a couple of ne'er do wells, family unity, friends for life, something for everyone. And let's be honest, sometimes you just need cute, handsome, and not too deep. Life is hard, so take a break with this one!
This was a delight from start to finish, except for the serial killers, of course. Suho from EXO was awesome! I love Lee Min Ki and this was my first Han Ji Min drama and she's on my watch list now. There was a health issue I'm familiar with as my husband had it before he passed and it was good to see it addressed. I don't always notice OST's, but this one is superb, so it is now a music playlist. Human interactions and relationships are complicated and people being able to change and grow is always going to draw me in and this excelled in that area. the mystery baffled me until it was revealed, the actor who played the psycho was just that good. Hence, all the stars from me!
This was a delight all the way thru for me. The actors are so fun in their roles and I frequently laughed out loud. I also shed a few years at the end and I adored the happy ending. Thanks for this fun, romantic, treasure! P,.S the extra recap episode was great since I wasn't ready to let go yet.
This is now one of my favorite Kdramas! What a mix of laughter, love, and drama! I loved every minute. "And thus they lived happily ever after. " Exactly what I wanted.
I loved this... until the last 20 minutes of the last episode. I kept watching for it to resolve and as it got closer to the end, realized their writers either died or went on strike or there were more episodes to come. I understand all the ways you can look at the ending, but it wasn't at all satisfying for me. Both lead actors are some of my favorites, but the kissing was ridiculously stiff until the next to last episode and after that the whole story goes off the rails??? 8.5 stars for good actors and interesting plot line. Minus 1 and a half stars for terrible kissing and a disappointing ending.
I loved it. Park Bo Gum and Kwak Dong Yeon were a great team and Kim Yoo Jung is always a favorite. I really enjoyed Jung Jin Young and will watch more with him in it. All the things I need in a Kdrama.
This is now one of my favorites! What a beautiful story about love and family and friendship. So much fun and great relationships. I have just about quit reading comments in this app because I seem to be watching completely different shows than some folks. Viva la Vida and Viva Twinkling Watermelon! 10 stars without a doubt!
Well, this is a drama that's going to live in my head for a while! I didn't see any other versions of this before, so as a first timer to this story, my mind is blown. It might be like 6th Sense, where now that I have all the pieces, the rewatch will be even better. There were so many confusing things for the first few episodes that I didn't see how they were going to bring it all together and have it make sense. I really liked the main actors, the social issues it deals with, and how you never knew what was going to happen next. Weirdly, I even liked the ever changing time lines! It's one where you need to pay attention to details, like names and ages in the beginning, but it all eventually comes together. This is either really genius script writing, or they got lucky because the more I watched, the more I realized I was stuck in my own head insisting things have to be a certain way, but do they???
I had no idea what to expect with this show because it seems to be a big secret. I got the idea it was anything between a documentary and an outdoorsy drama. Wow! Mind blown! Top tier acting by actors I knew were good, but what range! The cinematography is Beautiful! The scope of the mountains is awe-insipring and the views were phenomenal. I loved the interpersonal relationships and the portrayal of dedicated, well-trained, hard core Rangers. If the real rangers are only half this committed and knowledgeable, they deserve mad respect. Now for people like me who need to know it's not a documentary, it is a mystery. I saw it described as a thriller, but I disagree. It gets tense, but not scary. There are 16 episodes of mysteries within mysteries within mysteries and I honestly had some suspects in mind all throughout, but I didn't ever really know until near the end! Well done writers and directors! I wasn't trusting anybody for a very long time. To add to the fun, there's a supernatural element that is endearing and not scary. There are laughs along the way and tears. Not just a few tears in my case. I am a happy ending kind of girl and even right up to the end, I was having to be okay wih the notion that things might not go my way. I won't say here if they did or not. This is a gem. I loved it and would probably watch it again with someone viewing the first time. It would be fun to watch someone else go through all the ups and downs trying to figure out who dunnit!
I recently completed this show and found this lovely collection of the poems featured in the show: https://koreandramaland.com/when-the-weather-is-fine-books-part-one/
I loved how this article not only shared the poems and stories in book club, but I the beginning captures the very reasons I loved this drama! Thanks for sharing words I couldn't find to express why I love dit so.
P,.S the extra recap episode was great since I wasn't ready to let go yet.
