I felt they already hinted about his mom in front, esp with his recollection of mom making dried longan for him. Kid sys and her were smiling so warmly. He held onto that memory while freezing out in the cold and maintained his fondness for that food. She also expressed mixed emotions during the "selling" and meeting him at the later stage. I thought she behaved in such a heartless way so that little sys wouldn't keep running back to her and the abusive step dad. But agreed she could have told him when he was already grown up. Her actions left him so traumatised.

I like MQG but not RR. I used to think i dislike cute FLs. However I love Xiao Lan Hua from LBFAD to bits and can take Esther's cutsey voice. I absolutely adore her. I think for me, it also has to do with how the character is written and delivered and not just a general dislike for wide eyed FLs. From the bts, Julia appears more down to earth and matured. Hence i think she does better as MQG whereas RR feels kinda forced. Im watching this drama for Dw and i dont know how to continue with RR like that. Im quite upset. 😭
