Haha yes it is not too late to learn, especially through watching drama. ( I also started on japanese because i was crazy about anime and j drama! ) I wouldn't recommend learning from period dramas though as they speak very differently. I sometimes have difficulty understanding their words BUT i can't stand most modern c dramas. I don't know why... I read and write English and Chinese, get by with japanese and spoke Canto for the first 12 years of my life. Chinese has got to be the hardest! English is easiest so that's why I'm here instead of the chinese forums!

I read it up to ch 80 where the english version stopped and the rest in chinese. I think the translation was pretty good. Not sure if there are others out there now. The novel was a lot of action with no explanation. I wasn't very convinced they actually loved each other. And much as it was a he in the novel, i couldn't accept sy and jm as babysitters! The drama did a better job with the storyline and character development.
