'Temporarily' Banned. Unfair, harsh, sad though it may sound, professionally that's how a company moves. Distancing themselves from the 'accused'. Makes sense in case of sexual harassment, bullying, assault allegations, crime cases lest they get perceived as 'picking sides/standing by the accused'. Drug abuse though... I hope the one who is managing the actor steps in to help him out. He is in serious need of physical and psychological help. Yes he messed up. No he is not a criminal unless he is involved in drugs dealing or hurting anyone else. Uptill now he is only guilty of consuming drugs which shouldn't deserve witch-hunt and jail term. Rehab, deaddiction and then community service I genuinely hope. He truly deserves atleast a fighting chance to save himself from himself. And it would be tragic to see the acting world losing such a tremendous actor.
Drug dealing? By all means press criminal charges. Addiction? Jailing is the worse thing you could to an addict. The man is a tremendously talented actor. Tragic to see him spiral down the addiction world. He needs help; both physical and mental medical help. Being a celebrity, getting help and coming up clean will have much better impact on anti-drug campaign than any legal punishment. Hope he and many like him find strength to claw their way back out of depressingly scary and tragic drug addiction.
If the story, characters, acting weren't bad enough godawful subtitles hammer down the final nail on this drama coffin. This made 'Unforgotten night' look classic. And this is still episode one.

Mixing alcohol substitutes sounds cool yup. But getting parental consent for joining that club? :D Concerned about under-age cocktail mixing -Yeah I am a weird that way. When everyone was concerned about Rome burning I probably was the citizen who was worried about the tuning of the fiddle.

Judgmental much? I have NO problem whatsoever with ANY repeat ANY Job in the world provided it is legal and I am someone who thinks prostitution should be legalized too for the dignity and welfare of the ones who are willingly in that work. Yong Jie says he learnt the skills in his 'High School' club not university. NO highschool offers alcohol to minors. There is a legal age for all the jobs that you've mentioned. The ones doing that job has all my respect. Dignity of labour is something I personally strongly believe in. But some jobs minors aren't legally or morally supposed to do. Alcohol handling is one of them. Hope I am clear. A little less judgment a little more free mind and no personal attacks next time please. Thank you.

On a lighter note: Bartending club in a highschool? The schools of my era had arts, sports and regular boring clubs. Where do I need to sign up to join Yong Jie's kinda highschool? Hope the school also has a pole dancing club and hookah joints.
What happened in the last episode is a sexual assault. No two ways about it. Unless the consent is given be it verbal or non-verbal under the complete control of all the faculties (both mental and physical) ..it's a 'NO!' Reasons, excuses and justifications here are basically performing a Chinese wuxia. Twisting, twirling, flying and all the implausible. It is okay to personally like this troupe. (Or step brothers or multitude of perceived problematic troupes). We all have our preferences, tolerance and dark sides and fetishes. (I know I've mine). As long as we know where to draw a line in our real lives we are good. Virtual life choices doesn't necessarily reflects the real life ones. And it is perfectly within everyone's rights and wishes to be triggered, dislike or loath certain troupes and events in the show. And put forth their opinions. Xing Si's idea of dealing with the problem maybe being in denial or wishing it away. The guy is such a nonconfrontational personality that he will believe a boat perched on a tornado is not rocking. BUT he is still such a precious character. I mean he even worries about marine life while applying a sunscreen. He doesn't deserve a lakorn level psychotic Yong jie. Unless the younger guy spends some quality time in a good asylum. Or signs up for a therapy. Footnote: Unless we are paying someone's bills or are his/her/preferred pronoun-gender's family or friends or loan sharks from their previous lives ... we really shouldn't be telling that someone what to watch/drop, opine, like/dislike and so on. Free world; Free will and all that.
Don't you think Mango is just hating on this show by slow subbing. It's Mangos specialty. They do that with literally…
That's just my frustration speaking. I know about Mango Tv's stellar reputation regarding handling their shows. Precisely the reason why I don't want to venture near them. Gave this show a chance because of the glowing reviews and that killer (pun unintended) cast and their chemistry. But reading about the progression of the show and then that ending is like gut punched. No thank you Sire. I don't like abusing real people on internet hence refraining but have to say this. The screen writer was not being stupid two years back. She still is. Overall I agree with your views and comments Jen :)
The people in power behind the scenes responsible for the show must really hate the show. Slow subbing, basic to bad subs, hacksaw instead of scissors used on editing table, human version of truck of doom as a screen writer on rampage and then there is the ending. And as a footnote of compounded stupidity 'armor theory' and whatnot. If you have decided to be stupid embrace the stupidity. No point in enhancing it. The cast and that chemistry of the leads was a cracker though! Beautiful project like this deserved better.

Can't agree more. Nothing really justifies cast members being harassed, bullied and whatnot. Righteous anger can't be an excuse card for bullying. But honestly not even one person responsible for creating the episodes saw a smidgen of problem when there was an entire plethora of problems strewn around. Dumb and dumber if ignorant. Idiotic if idiotically deliberate. Or as you said high on some potent stuff. (I need to borrow some of that pot) Cast needs to be left alone by all though. They aren't the responsible party here.

Thank you for the list Irene. This is much worse than presumed. I am a rank outsider but even I can see how terribly problematic many a aforementioned stuff in here. The range of stupidity displayed by people in production department is darn nearly mythical level. Not even one person saw the final edit and went 'Houston we have a problem?' Amazed actually! The situation would be ridiculous if the repercussions weren't so severe. Now it's plain tragic.
In two minds about the situation. On one hand freedom of speech/creativity is never absolute. Abraham Lincoln can be a vampire hunter not a vile vampire himself. Joseon Exorcist-esque fictionalization of say Martin Luther King will lead to riots on streets. So content makers need to be mindful of how much is too much. On the other hand cancel culture is ugly. People have right to voice objections good, bad or ugly. Giving netizens power to cancel someone or something is dangerous. Let's leave that to people in power, courts and law. Not to the people on SNS. Looks like powerful people got involved in this situation besides netizens. Unfortunate that entire show got cancelled without even getting a chance to make the changes and go on. Hope this doesn't set a dangerous precedent. A little sensitivity from all sides and cancelling out the cancel culture is the need of the hour for the world in general.

Kingdom was a fictional show based on a fictional characters and there in lies the difference. The historical figures used in JE existed and they literally are the rare greats. Greatest even. Fiction can be fun like Mr. Queen . Hence it was enjoyed despite initial backlash. But outright denigrating? Koreans the fiercely proud and protective ones of their history and culture won't take it. Sorry for sounding philosophical but every race, religion, region has their no-go zones. Let's not even talk about the China connection here. Having said that hope everyone gets a grip now coz going by the current news the situation has gone completely crazy. So here is to wishing the cast and the crew best luck. Hope they sail through safe. Peace out.
Wow. The Korean audience makes everything so unnecessarily dramatic. As if all the historical dramas made earlier…
Errmm if Shivaji Raje was shown as hallucinating maniac slaughtering his own citizens and Maharana Pratap as a greedy ass making deal with demons Indians will more than cancel the show. Just saying :)
