Unfortunate! Sorry for the cast and the crew but people in power behind the screen really did mess up. Savage rulers are aplenty in Korean history. Yet they had to choose respected, reputable ones to distort. Fiction allows to portray Abraham Lincoln as a vampire hunter. But turning him into a bloodthirsty vampire himself murdering his own citizens? That's either being stupid or stupidly controversial. And then the Chinese mess up. The situation is volatile as it is with China claiming Korean culture and cuisine as their own. And Koreans rightfully outraging. Using Chinese props and then makers claiming to be historically accurate there in a fictional show! Stupid move again. For international audience this is an entertainment show. For the Koreans this is a provocation. Not our history (past and present)- not our place to denounce the outrage. Damn I really wanted to watch this show! Good luck to the innocent cast and the crew. Hope they aren't trashed for what they aren't responsible for.
He was 13 years old? Well the victims too were of that age. Even younger maybe. Bullying upto a certain limit is understandable (albeit still wrong). Young ones can be vicious, mean and unguided. But sexual assault? NO excuses or justifications. Age doesn't matter. That is a crime. Mistakes can be excused and grown out of.. Crimes are to be condoned and punished. As a famous character once said: Who is God to forgive you? Your victims should forgive you. And it is solely the victim's prerogative to When, how, why, where to speak up about the trauma. Be a day later, a week, a decade or in death bed. And only a victim gets to decide to punish or to forgive or to move on. No one else!
The entire cast and crew getting punished for the crime of one is something I am iffy about. But as far as the actor goes.. Disappointing. Hope the victims find peace.
Rating this show solely for MewGulf. A beautiful pair like that .. it must take a special kind of talent - writing, directing, editing, costume, producing and yes with all due gratitude subtitling too (who is the genius who thought lyrics takes precedence over dialogues?) to create this below subpar project. This show could have been.. heck should have been SO much more.

(I am someone who reads the last page of the book/last episode of the show in case of chinese shows) and now we have to deal with Thai trailer culture. Months... Yikes. A few more characters and we might as well declare this show a town of sizeable population. Mark and Kit are cute, spiced sugar balls and I am all aboard their story. Let Jack and Koh hook-up. They are hilarious. Wake me up if and when Padbok and Sab happens. Crackling potential there. Everybody else.. naahhh too exhausting to keep a track.
I have seen more chemistry between caramel sauce and ketch-up than Ton and Chon. And that is the least of this show's problem. Calling this show a mess will be a compliment for it.
Learnt nothing from the lesson of 'A tale of thousand stars' trailer and the years of waiting for release date. Never watch a trailer before the airing date is fixed. NEVER. This trailer is INSANE. Either the director lost his mojo going by his recent works or we the mere mortals are unable to attend the higher level of emotional plane displayed in the show Mary. PureFolk surely are engaging despite their story just jumpstarted and rushing by. The actors are so good. Other two main actors.. today is my 'be kind' day. Hence I shall refrain from airing my true feelings. Visuals are good though. Perth is a tremendous actor. As they say .. either you have it or you don't. He has it in spades. "Gay for you" is the standard template of BL world. (They never heard of bi-sexual concept). So loving a guy while having a girlfriend is not weird here. The weirdest thing is.. when on the earth love happened? Because barring few rare occasions when Itt and pai smiled at eachother and had normal conversations rest major chuck of scenes is Itt wearing hateful expressions seeing Pai. To think of it.. his expressions totally match mine when I chance upon a cockroach in my kitchen. So really when; why; how did the 'light' turned on? Sherlock-esque mystery!
