Well, I agree with you, but I feel like the show is trying to say “love bravely!” Anytime any of us get into a relationship, we risk getting our hearts broken for any number of reasons. I think she had finally decided the risk was worth it. So, while it was a fantasy, so to speak, neither of them knew when it would end - if ever. Isn’t that a bit like real life? And, if this were real life, once the heartbreak isn’t so raw, she’d still have some beautiful memories to look back on.

I agree that it’s not MT’s fault that the Grand Tutor had a romantic relationship with MW, and he may have even been suspicious that she was using him for money or connections. It’s wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that given his wealth and status. But GT was pretty relentless in his pursuit of MW, and since she liked him as well, I can understand why she would go against her better judgement and finally agree to marry him. I think if she were being irrational, she would have had expectations of MT even after he woke up from being the GT. But she didn’t. She is deeply hurt and missing the GT, but she walked away because she knows what she had with GT is over.
@jugnijoshi - no, you are not being too sensitive. I agree with you 100%. I find the sounds to be too loud as…
Yay! I’m not the only one. 🙂 But, like you, it’s not enough to keep me from watching the drama. Actually, there’s a Korean drama I watched sometime back, “Another Miss Oh” that taught me a lot about what a sound engineer does (prior to watching the drama, I’d never given much thought to why, when, or how sounds are added to a show), so I think I’m a lot more aware now when I watch something.
I am really enjoying this show in spite of the fact that it took me a while to get used to seeing Jeremy speak but hearing someone else’s voice. My brain just couldn’t process it at first. Now I’m okay with it (not happy, but okay), but I have another annoyance I need to get off my chest. Why does the sound engineer think every footstep needs to sound like the person is wearing tap shoes regardless of what kind of shoes they are wearing - even slippers! It’s so distracting! I’ve seen this in a few other dramas as well, and I don’t understand how this is acceptable. I get that it’s added post production, but does no one have to approve this before it’s released? Or am I just being too sensitive?
So for all intents and purposes, it’s a happy ending. But for me, not altogether a satisfying ending. I still haven’t watched the last several episodes in full, but I cheated and watched the last 20 minutes or so of the final episode. So, yeah, in the end, our ML found our FL (because he was leaving clues which he hoped would help them find each other again) and they were both wearing the bracelets (cuffs) and all teary eyed. But not even so much as a hug or a kiss. Just them staring at each other from yards apart, then cue closing credits.
This is such a common theme in c-dramas; FL and ML are separated by circumstances and are only brought back together at the very end. It’s a lot of angst with little payoff.
A better example of a happy ending is a drama I just finished called “Why Women Love.” There were all kinds of things that could separate our couple in love, but they worked through those things together rather than one person doing what they thought was in the best interests of the other person (why does one person get to solely decide what is in the best interest of the other person in a RELATIONSHIP?). Watch the drama, and you will see what I mean (bonus, the ML is really hot, and they have some really steamy kissing scenes).
I have been in love with this series since the beginning. I had no knowledge of the ML prior to this drama and limited knowledge of the FL. But I thought the story was good.
However, I stopped (temporarily) watching after episode 28. I hated that our FL was leaving our ML after all the love and care he had shown her. Maybe I’m just really inexperienced, but I didn’t feel that was very realistic. Yes, I know our FL was a strong, independent woman who wanted to live life on her own terms in a society ruled by men. But even in our age, who leaves someone you love and who obviously loves you to wander the world on your own? I have yet to meet a person who would make that choice. So I get a little tired of these dramas where the writer thinks the only way a woman can express her independence and individuality is to leave behind someone who loves and supports her. So a woman who loves a man cannot be independent?
And, yes, I know she came back because while I have not been watching, I have been reading comments left by others to get a feel for what is happening.
I guess I was so invested in this drama that I need to know how it ends to prepare my heart before I actually watch the last several episodes. I’m a coward. Lol
It’s a big, big world out there, and there is something for everyone. Even the most popular international dramas…
TBH, I’d already figured this person was looking for someone to feed into their negative commentary. Some people get their jollies off that, and who am I to judge? This series clearly has strong support, so a few naysayers aren’t going to change the tide.
So today’s episodes didn’t have a whole lot of payoff in the romance dept, but they did further the story so I can’t hate that. But I most love when our male lead shows his love and affection for our female lead who seems to be finally becoming aware of his true feelings toward her. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s episodes.
Looks like I may be feeling opposite of everyone else... Even though I like the FL and ML and the story should…
It’s a big, big world out there, and there is something for everyone. Even the most popular international dramas of all time didn’t appeal to everyone. So, if you’re not not feeling it, I don’t think that’s weird at all. How boring would this world be if we were all on the same page?
The countdown begins! Less than four hours before new episodes drop! I rewatched the entire series over the week, then rewatched my favorites scenes yet again. This drama is definitely rewatch worthy, and as much as I love dramas, I can’t say that about most of the ones I’ve watched. But I just can’t get enough of this series! I’m eagerly anticipating what this weekend has in store for us. I’ll be sad when this is over.
Ep 23; my heart just breaks for QX. Even if I never thought he was right for our leading lady, he was sincere in his love and devotion. I hope this doesn’t turn him into someone vengeful.

Be still my beating heart! lol
This drama is just too cute!
