My theory is that what we saw in flashbacks was the old Chi Wen, when he was still just the simple and shy Ji Ling.

It's obvious that Chi Wen has feelings for Lu Wuyi, and they existed back then as well, that's why Ji Ling fell in love instantly.

Which makes me think that in the flashbacks of Lu Wuyi and Ji Ling, it was him before, as in the actual old Chi Wen when he was still innocent and was probably still named Ji Ling.

He can't fool me, Chi Wen has feelings for Lu Wuyi, that's why Ji Ling fell instantly, the feelings already existed.

Lu Wuyi is MAD mad. That's her baby.
