You don't really have to be an expert to know someone is struggling to act or to give expressions. She is an entertainer and in order to improve, she should be able to get criticism. Some people need to stop saying "you're not an expert" to deflect criticism.
I will just say this: I absolutely treasure the bond that these three share. You could just see how much they trusted each other and treasured each other. Their friendship was just so fulfilling to watch. We see that in the last fight, this wasn't a fight that stemmed from hate or hatred but it stemmed from the fact that these three were desperately trying to protect the other.
Hwa Pyung was running away from his friends to protect them whereas Yoon and Gil Young were running to him to save him. It wasn't a big grand last boss fight like most other stories but still just as if not more impactful. It also helped that the actors also had such great chemistry between them.
I would definitely appreciate a season 2 but if not, just one special where we see them having a group hug and hanging out together, having ramyon and soju and grumbling about random stuff.
I have a new-found admiration for the writer Lee Soyeon for this amazingly crafted story and crime drama, the way the story was crafted, through subtle details, the realism of the situation and the characters, it was absolutely brilliant. I can never praise this drama enough.
Every one of the characters had such depth to them, that it wouldn't be a surprise at all if we see them walking around on the street as real people. That's also a strong point of this drama. Everyone had their strengths and weaknesses, determination, and passion. Moral codes that they lived by without compromising it for anyone.
I also have to praise the director and the actors. The director knew how to make certain scenes impactful with the camera work and stunning direction, the actors delivered their roles so well, I really want a season 2 with the same staff and cast.
Up to episode 13, I was completely blown away by Signal. But after that, I am not sure what was the issue, there were so many rushed scenes and sudden plot points that didn't make much sense. This definitely could have been a great series otherwise, but the story lost its initial consistency after the 13th episode. I was really disappointed.
My issue also extends to Cha Soo Hyun. She was in love with Lee Jae Han, but she still had her own identity and personality. She was a competent police officer and always made sure to never bring her personal problems to work. Everything regarding her personality to her professionalism really went to shit in the last part of the drama. She became a whining mess, her only motivation being her unrequited love for Lee Jae Han.
I hope if there is a second season, the writers/producers will tie up the loose ends, and won't rush the plot as they did to the first one.
Liking Ma Yi Deum as the psychopath she is and as a villain is ok, as long as you acknowledge the fact she indeed is evil.
But, what's not ok is justifying her actions and comparing her to strong women who don't deem manipulating, hurting as a way of being strong. Ma Yi isn't confident or strong, she is a cruel woman. (even the writers acknowledge that with the title, "witch's court"). Being psychopathic is not a personality trait, it's a mental illness. Not something I would regard as being strong and confident. She also most certainly has narcissistic personality disorder. Only caring about her own gains even if it means hurting other human beings in the process.
I was about to lose my mind from this drama, it made me sick :/A damn group of psychopathic people seriously.I'm…
Jung Woo was the one who killed the residents, yes. But if it's about the ending montage, here is what happened: Jong Woo was clearly suffering from PTSD from being in the military and was constantly suppressing himself from cracking. Munjo realized that and pushed him further to crack, and he did. Which might have been the last of his humanity. Hence why we see the policewoman mistaking him as Munjo and in the end we see flashes of Munjo in his expressions. He is fighting to keep his humanity in check, trying not to become the same as Munjo, a deranged killer.
This drama was like a twist with some drama. Every point I thought I grasped what was happening, the whole narrative changed and took a new direction. It would have you guessing till the last second. I liked how the creators took some drama cliches out and went with some fresh and new ideas.
I also appreciate the fact that the drama didn't force any romantic sub-plots and kept things platonic. We need more stories with platonic, friendship and professional relationships between male and female characters. It's refreshing.
this was truly phenomenal, and especially the actors. every one of them gave a brilliant and convincing performance.
i truly felt bad for seok yoon and jung woo's friend. till the last minute, i was hoping that seok will somehow survive. the desperation he showed when Jung woo was leaving, I really felt that. i really did want him to live.
