I don’t think they specifically banned kiss or bed scene as long as it’s not too explicit and done with purpose (and not gay 😅). There’s always more rules for TV releases so those are more strict but web releases are more flexible. Even if most of the shows you watch are online, not all of them are release on Chinese tv broadcast and online. Some only released for online streaming platform. When something is on TV it can be exposed to the wider public of all ages, that’s why it has much stricter regulations. Web and streaming platform have you disclose your age when you make an account and you specifically seek out to watch the content instead of it jsut available in your home, that’s why the government is not as strict. All mini series are web only releases so you’ll see more lax approaches there. Still, there are big mainstream series with lots of kiss scenes before like: amidst a snowstorm of love (altho some of the more explicit kisses were cut for TV but they release snippets online), only for love, or love is sweet. I think the way cdramas don’t have kiss scenes are simply cultural (as they used to be completely banned a few decades ago) and not entirely due to current regulation. I find that chinese actors can also be much more picky with kiss scenes, esp idol actors due to their fan culture. Their agency is very careful in negotiating kiss scenes depending on what the actors are comfortable with. Some feels like it devalues them to do too many kiss scenes, some directors also feel like too many kiss scenes devalued their work, and make it relies on the CP factors too much. Lots of cultural reasons.

None of the scenes from Dai Chen dramas are that crazy. Just a bit saucy compare to most long form cdramas but if you’re into mini series, you’ll see that their scenes are pretty common. Of course it’s never one size fit all with chinese censorship but that’s my observation

Yah I actually would be interested if FL had kept as cool head and didn’t get back together but forgive him enough to work together with him. In the process, ML can develop as a character and make his own side scheme to help FL. It would be a cool story to have him grow from this spoiled useless man to someone who realized he’s actually useless and get it together become smarter and sacrifice himself for FL. It will be a good way to start as a genuinely privileged and gullible rich man to someone with actual grit and intelligence. What a character growth that would be.

Or like you said, having him actually have some hidden plan from the start and actually not as stupid as he looks. He’s just pretending and was looking for FL all along. May be even have him secretly help FL get out of the asylum and playing along with her plan without her knowing.

Yup. I can understand eventually forgiving him, and work with him complete her plan but still not get back together. Or at least make him jump through a lot of hoops and sacrifices before she’s open to the possibility of getting back together. But not only was she still devoted to him, she legit immediately get back together like he had no fault at all and spent the rest of the show just helping him with everything. Also feels out of place for someone of her intelligence. She’s so smart and decisive with everything else in her revenge plan. Yet she literally just forgive ML without even a little bit of challenge. It’s really a huge plot hole. Bad writing. Both ML and FL. ML is pretty useless from start to finish. Most of the ending part about his identity and all that was mostly planned by FL and she’s the one using her own ppl and resources and he just helped cooperate. To write such a smart FL, but make her a spineless love brain to a man with so little character and intelligence …. Insanity. There so many way they could have wrote a satisfying redemption arc for ML without sacrificing the FL’s character but they didn’t. I kept watching hoping there willl be a twist later but no.

Sorry I wasn’t meaning to fight you or anything lol this is just about the 5th short dramas where I’ve seen smart FL become spineless and irrational with ML that I just needed to rant. The writing quality is too terrible for this budget.

That’s not gullible. it’s basic trust. He didn’t do it once. He did it TWICE. It made 0 sense. He was a bumbling idiot for the first half then all of the sudden he’s some devoted hidden genius who always knew his mom isn’t reliable and planned to take over the company himself all along. Like he didn’t believe every wretched thing he heard from everyone’s mouth but the person he claimed to love. The bestie said it herself, with jsut a little investigating, he would have found the truth given his power and wealth. But did he even try to find the truth? No. A powerless girl with no resources can find the problem, but mr CEO couldn’t? The reason is because he didnt bother. He immediately accepted and believed she cheated over some unclear photos and didn’t care at all when she went missing for half a year. Are you joking? Such a cheap love. FL can forgive should never get back together with him. The problem is not the misunderstanding but what those moments say about ML and his character. Jsut bc he’s not a villain, doesn’t mean he’s a good man to marry. He didn’t pretend to marry the other woman at the start. He had every intention to fully move on and marry another woman while his wife whom he claimed to love is missing. Even after knowing she was framed the first time, he didn’t believe her AGAIN. The best friend did nothing wrong, all she did is expose the very basic lack of trust from ML. He didn’t love FL. His love is cheap and completely unreliable. Then the show spent half of its episodes try to make him a different person. FL a immediately get back together with him without even a trial period is insane. Stupid man and stupider woman. He’s half responsible for what happened to her. He was a weakling that easily manipulated. Bc of him that the villain’s plan succeed, bc they know he’s a useless piece of garbage who will easily dump the woman he loves over some baseless rumor.

I cannot believe he didn’t trust her TWICE and she just forgives him like it didn’t happen just bc he found out the truth and gave her a hug….. ARE YOU SERIOUS? The facts of his behavior did not change at all??? He still did everything he did and never trust her. They just move on with the show and blame everything on the evil sister and act like he didn’t do anything wrong. He didn’t even need to apologize to her or work to earn back forgiveness. How would this kind of FL who is this smart can possibly fall back into the same pit she crawled out of….. why ? Love? His love is worth nothing. It easily crumbled with a few photos and he couldn’t care less what happened to her for half a year and move on with life. And you’re telling THIS is all this woman deserve? After everything she been through??? You’re sending her back to this piece of garbage? Are you kidding me

Maids revenge was a hit and it’s more common for the mini series CPs to work together multiple times, unlike the mainstream long drama world, especially if their previous works do well. They also might be the same company though.

This is quite cute and good so far but I cannot with the one ep a day schedule for 10-15 mins of actual show per ep. UGHHHH but this is good. The couple’s chemistry is even better than their previous projects. The shots are very pretty (although they’re going a little crazy with the filter… it’s like nobody have pores or dimensions in their face anymore)
Story wise, the tropes are not new but done well. The leads have flaws but they are growing from it and there’s a lot prejudice from both side at the start. But it follows later with lots of rational conversations to clear up misunderstandings after a couple short fall out, which is very rare in c-dramaland. Their trust in one another is growing as they communicated more and put down their defenses. Ugh I need MORE EPISODES. Tencent I will pay you extra to get 5 eps a day loooool this release schedule is criminal

I guess it makes sense if it's a scene in the game that ehy feel lik they have to say word for word. May be that's why it felt a little inorganic. They do fade away a lot of those as the show goes on so it didn't bother me. Just how it came across to me as I watch the show. There's smt missing and it's not the acting but more of the directing here.

XK and Esther did smt similar a lot but it didn't feel organic. I don't even think it's on them but more on the direction they're given. There are scene with this couple I love and some felt a little forced. That's howw I feel. Chemistry is subjective. I'm glad it worked for others but I think it's fair for me to also share my opinion about the show on the platform dedicated for that purpose.

LOL it's not really about Dylan specifically. The comparison is to explain the type of siblings playing around chemistry I was looking to see for these characters. Did you even read my comment? lol did I say I don't like them? I went into wanting to like it and I also said it's enough for me to keep wathcing for the story but something could be improve bc certain scenes felt off about their chrmistry. If their chrmistry work for you, amazing. I'm glad. I'm sharing a point of view thats different. I don't think you're stupid for liking them. LIke the long time companionship that love and depend on each other. Somewhat co-dependent but fun, where they're like family rather than just lovers. It's a trope I love. I like the dynamic of the characters themselves but sometimes when they're like joking around and tease each other and such, some of the lines and gestures don't feel as organic but more just "oh this is a script, at this time I squeaze her cheek and then she said this and then stick out her tongue. Now run and then this line. ok now hug". Those playing around and bantering back and forth moments don't feel as organic to me. When they did it, it reminded me of a BTS clip I saw of Dylan chasing Esther around and he pick her up on the set of CLJ. Thats the natural playing around and teasing vibe I thought those scenes should have, but smt felt a little restraint and performative in those scenes on the show for me personally. May be it's bc the directing didn't give a lot of room to play around and improv.

In other emotional scene, they actually are natural and very sweet but it's just back and forth for me with their chemistry. Sometimes It feels natural and touching, sometimes it feels a little forced. Bc I kept getting pulled in and out of it, I couldn't invest in them as much as I thought I would. But also chemistry is very subjective and hard to explain. It's good enough for me to keep watching for the story but I did have to lower my expectation.

If that's how you want to take my honest opinion then go head I guess lol I actually love esther in her other shows. She's very good with creating good synergy with her co star. This is not at all an attack on either actor/actress. Smt just feel a little off this time for me bc I expected to enjoy the chemistry more bc it is esther. That's my opinion and I'm sharing it bc I want to.

Also true. I think Dylan would be ok with innocent but witty and cheeky. I didn't think of the ML as innocent per se but more cheeky and devilish but really soft to his girl. I don't have the game as a reference so I'm just going off of what I think the characters seem to be depicting on screen. I did think XK does well on his own on screen w the character. I'm not sure if it's the directing or what but when the two of them together, in theory it's very cute and both actors are good but there's smt that feel a bit too acted out in their movements. It takes me out of their chemistry so it doesn't really give me butterflies like other CP. I still enjoy them. I'm just not as attached to the CP as i would have thought. Bc usually this would be the type of relationship I love.

You're making yourself look bad by taking an honest opinion and criticism as some sort of attack. Dylan is not even one of my favorite actor. Honestly I didn't like any of his other drama outside of the one with Esther. I expected Esther to have good chemistry with any leads she's with. That's her talent and why I enjoy her show. I think it might be the directing, but even tho there are nice moments, smt felt off to me in some of their interaction that didn't feel natural. Hate all you want. It's how I feel.

honestly the prduction for me is a bit bland but the story is fun and new which I can appreciate. For idol drama, It's pretty decent. I can't help but kinda think..... the leads dynamic would be more fitting if you cast esther and dylan together. Like no hate to Xu Kai. But idk their dynamic is cute as the characters written and I like esther's portrayal of her role, Xu kai does fit the character on its own but togehter their interaction and closeness felt a little put on. Like I see that these are actors acting. it didn't feel organic for me personally. It kept me from fully get into the CP but just thought oh thats a cute and sweet moment but I'm not like gushing over it.... normally this typee of dynamic would have me swooning. Smt just felt a little forced. I can't help but think this natural chemistry of siblings picking but so sweet and and close that they can be dating would fit Esther and Dylan really well. I imagine these characters would interact like esther and dylan do behind the scene. Full on fighting, teasing and bickering that it give siblings energy but also lots of sweetness in their eyes and caring gestures that it also felt like they're in love. Idk just a thought. I am enjoying the show just to see where the story goes.

ep 17, and i cant believe how I never heard anything about this drama. The story is interesting and for once, I can't guess what actually is the mystery. The acting is quite good. obviously there's some bits here and there that can be improved but overall these two really embody their character well. I like that the "mythical creature" is not what we usually see. So far they follow their own logic well. Also, I love love love the way they resolve their conflict and progress their relationship. The writer did a good job showing why these two make sense together. They don't just fall in love because the plot say so but we see them getting closer and closer and seep into each other's lives and the way they realize their feelings and choose to be together is written well in a way that fit each character well. I really hope this doesn't let me down and stay good to the end

Bro he literally said her birthday is his doorcode for this apartment a few eps ago. MOnths before this. He knew what her bday is. If you're stepping up to someone and said "hey I'm going all out to pursue you" even without the weibo moment, you don't thnk it's important to at least try to get smt for that person's bday??? So that event was scheduled in advance. He doesn't have any other day? the day before? the day after? the time and effort to get a meaningful gift? That's how you pursue someone? I'm just tired that he keeps being ignorant and hurting her in the process. He's slow. Sure. we get it. He can flirt with her, call on her at a moment notice all the time and then promptly reject her. Then, proceed to say he pursue her and want her back the very next day. Then try to convince her he wants to produce her work ... despite NEVER reading it. We can excuse all that. Sure. He's slow, he's growing and she's not making it easy bc she's also stubborn in her own way. However, how long are we going to keep doing that? She's not a good communicator, but she showed a lot through her action. Why does he feel like he can keep coming back and staying around her? Bc despite not accepting him, she's not mean to him. She acknowledge his kindness and appreciate it. She just needed more. So what? 4 years she held on to this crush and always there for him. She took the time to get to know her crush and despite getting hurt from him wanting to date her friend,she stick w it bc that's how silly and desperate her love is. He did his own pat in keeping her crush alive bc he also liked her. That's fine bc that's how relationship works. But bc he is the way he is, he hurt her again and again. She swallowed it all until that one final hit... Ok. Let's excuse that too.
Then, we should also accept that the FL is the way she is. She loves w all her heart and she's selfish in love. Bc she loves him so much and was completely let down. It took a lot to just shove it down and act normal the day after. Now it's his time to get to know her and make the effort to convince her that he does love her the same amount. Is it fair that she ask for so much while styaing cold? No. But it makes perfect sense. Sure he didn't know but the reality remains that she had so much pent up feelings and she wanted to see that he loves her just as much. We act out when we're desperate and scare. She knows the moment he read the Weibo page, all her defenses are gone. He has her heart in his hand to do wev he wants bc she was always stupidly in love w him no matter what he does. She's stubborn and hot and cold w him bc she wanted to hold on to some resemblance of control and focus on herself but she can't help showing him affection as well. Bc it's too scary to let him in knowing she likes him more than he likes her. If you can excuse the ML for being slow af, leading a girl on knowing she caught feelings for you and didn't realize you also like her, for wanting her back without even opening her book and enter her world, etc., then the same understanding should be afforded to the FL. All I see here is ppl trashing her for not being more affectionate to him. If a ML act the wya she did, there would be a whole genre of drama dedicated to that type of character ... oh wait.. there is... She already said she get that he's genuine but she doesn't know how to react to him given everything. When She left his company but was stil professional. He just wasn't the right person to make her work and she is right. When he did her a favor and was nice to her, she still act nice back to him and thanking him for his effort. She's just not ready at the time to just hit a switch and let it all go. She told him that at the door scene before the weibo page even happen.
AFTER ALL that...... a red envelope for her birthday? Shouldn't he have plan something for this when he was delclaring his pursuit??? Yall focus on how "mean" she is and excuse everything he does before this bc he was the one chasing her now. In all the recap, before the confession you can see him already liking her and still treat her coldly for the whole time they were close, yet he would call her whenever he needs anything from a cat scratch. Is she completely rational? No. But that's the character. That's also how love is. The deeper the hurt and pain, the more it took to make up. it takes 3 words to scar someone, but it takes a million more to make up for it. Logically, you might know you should forgive and forget, emotionally, you're simply not there yet. Im annoyed even more bc now she is once again at his mercy and he's not stepping up to the plate.

it's a prestige thing too. They're hating and looking down on him bc he didn't come from a typical acting school background. He was a streamer and internet singer who slowly and steadily got his start in the industry and just focused on improving his acting steadily instead of having a pretty face and can't act but somehow getting all the ML roles. He prob felt like an outsider who made it and that's why a lot of hate accounts are more focus on him. Unless you're some crazy good looking guy, the Cnetz can't be convinced. With every project he takes he get better and better. You can tell he spend the time to take serious projects that really care about the story telling and writing quality, not just churning out brainless idol drama for internet clicks. Honestly there are terrible actors in dramaland who constantly getting lead roles and literally can't act for shit. All they got is an emotionless pretty face for the camera. Yet somehow they're getting paid the big bucks to act in huge projects....... *eyeroll* From the first time I saw LYN in the long ballad, I've loved his acting. I thought he was so handsome and charismatic and then to find out he sang so well .... game over. LOL Now that he seems more comfortable taking more ML roles, I've excited to see more from him.
