On Love Is Written in the Stars Apr 11, 2023
UGH it’s getting so intense. Someone need to tell WQ to knock it off and just get together with ZY. Gosh you clearly can’t so why keep resisting.we only have a few eps left. Just get together already before the big storm is here. Where is master? He needs to come clear all the gunk in WQ head and all this misunderstanding he has. Look at NL and LY… cherish your love. She’s practically jumping you. Why can’t you just trust her words instead of your assumptions from what you saw….. I get all his reasons or wev but just be honest for once jesus. They’re driving me nuts

They just believed Han Dong Jin's mother right that the house was in her name after the father's death? No one…
I feel like in Asia it’s not common to think of lawyering up and go to court as an immediate response. People tend to avoid lawyers and the court system unless they absolutely have to. In this case, it seemed pretty clear cut without knowing the background so why bother with hiring lawyers and go through all that esp when you’re already poor. Most lawyers they consult would likely tell them the same. Unless you have some way to prove the dad had a legal will to leave the house to the kids, the law is on the side of the legal wife. So why waste money going to trial.

i sure hope you are right. It would seriously sour me on this show otherwise, bc so much would become pointless…
Exactly. The ending would actually make or break this show for me. Like are we going to reach the healing and growth or has all this just been for nothing. Plus it jsut doesn’t make sense to have WJ live her whole life for the sole purpose of being the pillar of the family and for the one time that matters, her family choose their own feelings over her happiness. It would just make everything we watched feels meaningless.

The drama has been super consistent in tone, how someone can watch 14 episodes and then complain it's too depressive…
Exactly lol like clearly this isn’t some upbeat lovely spring time drama LOL not only is the set up so sad from the start, the main characters are both introverts who doesn’t talk much. It’s like that form the start. Their love is naturally going to be subtle and soft but deep and sincere. It’s not for everyone, just move on then. Like if we’re two eps before the end and there’s still ppl complaining it’s depressing or boring … then why r you still here

I’m surprised everyone is so convinced it’s going to be an open ending. I think there’s hope that the family will come around to accept them, especially if the bad mom goes to jail for the will fraud. I think it’s actually more out of character if the family doesn’t eventually realized that they are letting their past plague their whole life and forcing their sister suffer. Especially if we can get an arc with DJ helping them get the house back and show them that hes a kind person and let the family saw that WJ saw, how much he suffered bc of his mom. It’s reasonable that they will see that he’s also a victim and let him in. It would so messed up to set up that WJ sacrifice her whole life for her family, just to have the family choose to make her live in pain bc of the dads mistake. The family is very similar in how much they care for each other. It would make them so selfish to have it end with the CP still can’t be together bc of the past. It would render the whole show Pointless bc the family did not heal and grow at all, they would end with the family still letting the pain of the past haunt the rest of their life. I think it actually makes the show for meaningful and complete to have a happy ending.

Legally HDJ mother is the legal wife by the time the father died. So if the house is under his name, it would automatically go to his wife if he doesn’t leave a will. That’s how it works in Korea. Given the fact that their father abandon the family, stole money and ran off with the mistress for years and don’t even bother seeing any of his kids. I don’t think it’s far fetch to assume he doesn’t bother leaving a will to specifically give the house to his kids bc he cares about them. Once she found out, Their mom had her suspicions bc she actually heard him talk about his plan for the house but the kids didn’t. Most of their life he was just a deadbeat dad who ran off with the mistress. They wouldn’t think he care enough to make sure the house goes to them. I don’t think it’s that crazy of a plot given the dad’s track record.

No. They had never met each other before the start of the drama, FL's father is a dead beat who eloped with his…
His mother only sees him once in a blue moon as she goes around from men to men. They literally said later that by the time she was cheating with the FL's father as the mistress and after they get together officially, she barely see him anymore. So no they never had the "same father". Just bc someone marry my mother, doesn't make him my dad "legally", especially if I don't know them. Even on paper, they don't have a legal right over me. The fck. ML barely even knows the FL's dad. Just know he's that guy his mom is with. They're not step siblings. LOL they literally have all different parents and no knowledge of who the other person is. The dad never even live together with the ML. From their conversation, it sounds like by the time the cheating started, his mom didn't live with him full time anymore. Just checking in here and there. She just live with whichever guy she got together with. The ML was old enough to be alone by the time they get married. His mom and the FL's dad never really brought their respective kids into their married life bc none of the kids want anything to do with them and they were so selfish they were totally ok with that. So no. They were not siblings in any capacity.

I'm so pissed at WJ family right now. I understand how deep they were hurt by his mom but he literally didn't do anything. He barely even talks to her. He didn't asked to be born by his mom and spent so much of his life suffering because of her. He tried to make amends any chance he can. WJ sacrificed her whole life for this family. She doesn't even know what she wants in life other than good future for her brother and sister. Literally the one time she was happy for herself, they really have the gall to tell her she doesn't allow to. They let the vile deed of that woman further pain their family by letting it haunt her life and force WJ and DJ to suffer for something they have no part in. Like I get needing sometime to process and go through the emotions but seriously how could you look her in the eyes and say no you're not allowed to be happy because we were hurt so now we need you to be in pain so we can feel more comfortable. How can you say that with your chest looking at the pain you're causing her.... You gave up your life, your wants and needs all this time for this family so it's your duty to keep doing it. How fcking selfish and unfair. Why is it that once again the kids have to suffer for their father's mistake? The family better get their shit together and come to their senses or I will literally lose it. Anything less than a happy ending will be unreasonable. For all the love this family have for each other, it's seriously would be so disappointing if they can't just let her be happy. It's not just WJ but DJ also could use a real family. He seems happy to be around them as well. Why can't you see he's just another victim? WJ did and it made her fall in love with him. I was hoping they would let the family see the same. The writers better keep it together and let the family reach that growth. I did not cry til my head hurts for an open ending. This family will never truly heal unless they no longer let the trauma of the past dictate their life.

I SWEAR. THEY BETTER BE HAPPY TOGETHER IN THE END. They need to be happy. they deserve it. I don't want them to get hurt anymore. For those complaining, please leave. Like this is ep 15. You know what kind of drama this is. It's a melodrama. It's all about sinking into the emotions of the characters rather than just plot intensity. It's ok if its not for you, but no one wants to hear it anymore. It's too far in for you to be in here complaining...
I also need to say the cinematography is very well done. The way some shot are set up really punch in the emotions further. Lee Sung Kyung is so versatile as an actress. Her acting is so beautiful to watch. The way her face move through the different stages of emotions all in one shot is so good. It's so subtle and restraint (just like her character would be) yet it still very clearly communicate the emotions the character is going through. This is the same girl who played a funny bitchy girl in Cheese in the trap, the cutie in Kim Bok Joo and the outgoing n ambitious doctor in Dr. Romantic, the competent and smart manager in Sh**ting Star... She really transform into her role so well. She can make you laugh, cry, angry and empathize with all her characters. Sometimes she really doesn't get enough appreciation for her acting. This is one of her best acting performance. It really showcase her range as an actress.

Is the musician guy bad or good?
he's in the middle i think. From the recent eps, I think he's a good person but his master is controlling him with poison or something and there's also some life debt between them. That's why he started spying on CP but then actually became loyal to CP. He's trying to help Crown prince in a sneaky way without revealing himself to either side. Ultimately I think as long as CP keep trusting him, he also won't hurt CP. I do think CP needs to confront him at some point in a way so he can get the help he needs to break away.

She don't want to show off. She acting weak and frail because she don't want people think her family is aggressive…
This is a short and fun little drama. The overall story is rather simple but I think quite a lot has happened in recent eps. They spent a few eps in the middle just playing mind games though so you do have to pay attention and appreciate how she wins over everyone in the capital, including the CP. There's some background plot going on that will start to be more important now as the real schemer start to make a move and we see whos behind everything. It's really all part of it. She won't show her real strength until the end I don't think since she doesnt need to yet and it's the better move to keep it hidden til she's in trouble. You're really just watching the couple get together and watch them solve problems as they come. In the last few eps, they introduced the main villain, some new characters to push the leads together and also the very cute confession scene that really fits the characters. I quite enjoyed it so far. Idk how far in you are but hopefully that's going to keep you interested!

What is this straight forward, honest and non toxic relationship LOL I was expecting them to run in circles like typical Cdramas but these two are so brave and clear about their feelings. That confession is so cute and refreshing.

For the mansion thing, I think the ghost money everywhere on the ground is what freaking her out. She prob doesn’t…
its just a tv show. We're just here discussing out thoughts as long as everyone is respectful. No one should take it too seriously. I know people can get weirdly combative on here for no reason. I appreciate that you take the time to write a thorough comment. I thought it made sense as well. I tend to word vomit in the comments a lot because I like the art of story telling and film and also just enjoy dramas a lot so sometimes I get really into it and write a long ass comment. I tend to feel like I talked to much after so. It feels nice to see someone else take the time to respond to my points in details.
For RR, the styling for some characters are interesting but for the most part it's really pretty. It's based on a different time period but it's very pretty. They have a couple fashion faux pas moment as part of the plot so not sure if that's what you saw in the trailer. It's a fun one. I like the FL character a lot. She's a cunning one. Idk if you've watch Story of Minglan but imagine in a perfect world if Minglan grew up in a loving family and get to run wild she would be this FL. She knows how to use the power of being pretentious to her advantage but still very smart fun and carefree. She can still be a bit childish and had her temper but still not dumb. The acting is cute. The actress definitely is a little rookie with her acting in some parts but she's doing a great job and she's very pretty. The relationship once developed is almost too unproblematic and so straightforward that I'm a little culture shock LOL. The plot is simple and still a bit clumsy at times but the characters are very cute and fun.

Don't worry about it. You're good. I will hold on because I love PXR acting and regardless of some littel typical cdrama annoyance, I still think they make a cute pair and I have sat through much much worse shows just bc the leads are cute together LOL Also you should give RR a try. It's fun. I didn't know much of the actors at first so I was hesitant but it's a fun one.

Do you think Lang and ML will become friends/partners in the future since Lang discocered that the one who kills…
Yeah they prob will. It’s clear that there’s a misunderstanding about the tea gang and the ML’s father from both sides. Lang dropped the handkerchief while trying to rescue ppl and the ML a took that was the tea gang or Lang is the one who killed the refugee. That’s another misunderstanding on top of the one about both of their fathers deaths. it looked liked there as a split within the Tea gang and some of them commits heinous acts and that might be why Lang’s dad and ML’s dad were killed. I suspect that they were on the same side and was killed in the power struggle. Neither of the sons have the full story and is making the other one into the villain. I wanna see how they’re untangling this.

For the mansion thing, I think the ghost money everywhere on the ground is what freaking her out. She prob doesn’t…
I don't think the show is a wash. I'm just starting to cross my fingers hoping that it won't become one. Like I said I still enjoy the show and I'm still rooting for the FL. I just feel a bit let down from the impression I had of the show at the start to the last couple eps. Since the OP brought it up, I wanted to express my criticism. I know this is not an indepth, brainy show. I didn't really mind that. I love a light mindless rom com honestly. However, the first few eps just establish a fun, naive but smart character that I want to root for and get behind. Then it seems like she's getting her scenes cut and her decisions are written to make the ML look good, set up character building for the ML, or just to move the plot forward.
Like the edit to the scholar scene with her, I totally agree that they clearly cut the scene bc they felt that it's not that important to justify or give context to her character building moment as long as it ends with her crying to ML.
The hostage scene I also think is very important to show growth of their relationship and the ML. However, The way they got there make her look silly. Not to the point that it's illogical but just feel out of character and slightly disappointing. This is also in addition to the overall more ditzy demeanor she had the last couple episode compare to before. It seems like her character is not growing to be smarter & more alert as she encounter more danger, but actually becoming more reliant on the ML and more ditzy.
If the show didn't start off strong with the way they establish her character, I wouldn't feel that way. Like with Jun Jiu Ling, literally the first 10 mins you already know oh this is nonsense and over the top so logic is out the window and only watch if you can buy into the fantasy.
I also think because I'm watching this with Royal Rumors, another similar show in scale. RR is also not supposed to be super deep or brainy with relatively simple plot. However, the character decisions and growth are well written. THe overall plot and the way they move the plot forward is a little clumsy but I didn't mind it bc I'm not expecting to watch a Minglan some crazy palace scheming show. However, what they did better was respecting their characters and let that drive their decision, as oppose to just write things to happen bc you need that to happen.
Again, I still love this show and I'll keep watching. I'm just adjusting my expectation and what excites me about the show. Especially since we're not even 1/3 of the way in and if this is the trajectory, I need to refocus my expectation . Thats all.

Not feeling it after the recent episodes honestly.I started this drama because I really like Ding Yuxi and Peng…
For the mansion thing, I think the ghost money everywhere on the ground is what freaking her out. She prob doesn’t mind the dirtiness as much as the dead stuff. I do agree though that things were going ok until the recent couple episodes. Like I understand she’s naturally smart but not scheming or wary of people due to not having any life experience in her memory. I also think she’s care free and immature bc it looks like she was also living in a well off merchant family as a rich lady. She’s probably well loved and doted by her father. That actually makes sense that she’s smart in lots of things and can see through problems but don’t have her guard up or suspect ppl. I didn’t mind it. BUT the last couple episodes she made some truly dumb remarks and choices that’s totally out of character and the way they set her up. Immature I get but she’s just plain silly in the way she just ran out willy nilly when she knows there’s danger and the silly things she said. It’s just to set up yo make the ML seems smarter and also creating hero rescue the girl scenarios… so dumb. Like you can achieve the same goal with just slightly different set up. Why not have the guard come out to check on the dead bodies and get attacked and the assassin take her. That way it’s not her who did something uncharacteristically dumb. Then you can still have the same hostage scene without turning your FL into a dummy to make your ML look good. Even the way they just skip over how she try to solve the rumor about her just to go to her getting things thrown at and come back to cry to the ML. Like she can see someone is behind it but you’re telling me she just walked in in male clothes and discovered? At least show me the process so I can see may be she was being discreet but got found out anyways or something reasonable. Some very strange choices in the last couple eps. it’s like they’re too lazy to actually write proper plot to show off her character but just write things that will use her to highlight the ML…. I wouldn’t be as mad if they make her innocent and silly from the start but why establish her intelligence and wittiness early on just to have her be dumb at times when it matters…. Hopefully it gets better. I love PXR and actually think the character portrayal is cute. Their chemistry is also pretty good too. Also I’m biased when it comes to FL bc they get always get needlessly piled on and judged harsher than ML in these dramas. I’m still rooting for her. After all, the ML character is also written with lots of inconsistencies. For such a smart know it all, he also misunderstood the tea gang issue and make some dumb decisions. Like how he handled the Wen girl.

I hope PXR doesn’t get another flop script. It seems like all her recent work after GBMY has pretty bad script. Waste of her talent. I think she’s a very versatile actress and I enjoyed her acting a lot. I was really excited for her to get a happy go lucky character….

Last 2 episodes definitely showing progress plus their banter is hilarious. But I'm still confused on one thing...…
She is his concubine technically. He just married her for the scheme and had plan to send her away after while I guess. It’s weird how much he’s purposely looking the other way for someone so evil when there’s not even that much of a relationship between them…. I’m honestly kind of annoyed about it.

How's it ??? Between royal rumours and romance of twin flower , which one is better???..... M watching royal rumours…
Both are good so far. RR is a shorter show so the plot is simple but the characters are fun. They’re already half way in. This one is longer so it’s only just starting. It’s very similar vibes tho. This one is funny and cute too. I think there’s more funny characters and jokes in RR. RR is definitely going w happy lighthearted route with a bit of angst near the end. Almost everyone will probably be redeemed since no one is that bad of a villain.
On the other hand There’s some very slight angst in this one already with actually terrible ppl involved. Right now tho it’s still very fun and light. I think with the length and the mystery behind the set up of the show, this one will be a little heavier than RR as it progresses. Nothing too crazy though. I think the tone will still be rom com all the way to the end. Just a slightly more intense with the villain than RR. Hard to say for sure since it’s not even 1/3 in
