I see a lot of people sugarcoating the situation in the comments. He deserves the backlash he’s getting. (Edit:…
Backlash ? Where ? Here ? Let me laugh. ^^
He was cast as a main character for two upcoming dramas. His carrer is fine. Just because some stupid BL fans (yes I stand by the word stupid) aren't happy that he isn't promoting his first role in "You Make Me Dance" won't change anything. It's his right to not mention or put the light on it. You can dislike or be disappointed by that of course, but nobody here knows his reasons for doing so. The " he is homophobic" that many wrote is totally groundless.
Many actors all over the world do the same with their early works, but anybody can found about it with internet so, what's the big deal ? Being obsessed with that is really stupid.

He hid the fact that he acted in a BL "You make me dance" which is his acting debut. Deleted every existence of…
He is not hiding anything seriously. It's impossible as it's all over internet for anyone who wants to know. He knows better than anyone else, but he decided to not promote or put it under the light. So what ?
People are in his head maybe ? Do they know his personal life or his reasons for that ? I don't think so, so people should move on seriously.
It's not like he publicly rejected or spite on it. Lots of actors all over the world don't mention some of their early works, even though everybody can found out about it. It's their choices, that's all.

This should be called "Unrequited love". ^^ Things will finally move forward next week. Good ! 6 episodes out of 8, when they last 20-ish minutes, to get there is really too dragged on though.

With the supporting cast revealed I'm even more excited for this drama. Nice to see FNC mates Hae In and Seung Hyub play in a drama together,

So will man suang be considered a bl movie or just a normal movie ? Because i saw it and there was nothing of…
Yes they talked about that, and it is present in the movie, but they never stated that it was at the center, or the main purpose, of the story told in the movie. That's why I wrote that the movie wasn't promoted as a BL movie. The fact that there is an homosexual romance in a movie or TV series don't make it automatically labeled BL, that's different.

Why not? Im Siwan was able to pull off the character of a high school student in his 30s.
I read many Korean medias articles to be sure, and they all describe this character as "a man disguised himself as a high school student while hiding his status as a NIS agent".

I agree! I'm confused by all the boring comments. I am really liking it! But I do like a slow burn. So, maybe…
Let's say 3 because with the preview of episode 5 and the duration of an episode, I doubt anything will happen next week neither. And if something happens in the last three episodes, although it can be nice, it will probably feels rushed (at least for me), considering the whole duration of the drama.
But I agree regarding Ryo and it's actually the reason I like and still watch it.
The issue is that people expect a romance, even a light one would be fine, considering it's a Japanese production, but there is none, so this one is bound to disappoint many unfortunately.

This is very good. Kurt Huang and Chris Chiu are delivering a really great interpretation in this drama, I look forward to the next episodes.

I don't find it boring, and I like slow burn romances too. But let's be honest, when after 4 (even 5 considering the preview) of 8 episodes, there is literally nothing between the two characters, and no hint or even possibility between the two, because one of them is totally clueless and has no interest of the other, it's not a slow burn romance anymore, it's just a slice of life/high school drama.

I'm wondering if this drama is some kind of challenge, to test patience, and see if watchers will stick until the end, because so far it's mostly frustrating. ^^
I keep watching because Fukada Ryusei's character Ryo is quite appealing to me and I really like Yoshida Mizuki (Chika)'s peformance in it, but considering the preview for episode 5, it seems this romance (if there is any) is going nowhere. We will have to wait for the last minute of the last episode...
Too bad because I love the aesthetic of this drama, even the path and the pace of the story would be okay if only there was some progress in the romance, but after four episodes there is literally nothing. At this point, if suddenly Hikaru becomes conscious of Ryo's feelings and recripocate them, it will only feels rushed and coming out of nowhere.

It's your opinion, and it's good for you if you are okay with it, but many, including myself, would disagree with that. Looking young doesn't mean that an actor will pass as a high schooler or student. Im Siwan, just like others actors passed 25/30 years old, clearly looks older than an 17/18 something young man, thus, it feels just weird seeing him or others wearing uniforms, weird or ridiculous actually.

I love Kang Joon and I'm very happy to finally see some news about him, but grown up actors playing high schoolers in Korean dramas or movies is really something I'm tired of. I personally don't find it credible at all, even if it's for a comedy.

An adaptation never depicts accurately its original source. The original is always better, because it's impossible…
"The current series have not even bother to show who Blackthorne is in order to justify why Toranaga is interested about him and why he is considering him an asset in his quest to become a Shōgun."
Well, that's the thing, I disagree on that. I think we can already see it in a way through the three first episodes, as well as " the cultural differences, the clothes, the food, the hygiene, sex, life style attitudes, the strategic and tactical differences etc". It's there, and very detailed in my opinion, but the focus is not on that.
As I already wrote, I think your expectations are too high and you can't enjoy this adaptation for what it is. Which is perfectly fine and understandable, it was the same for me for other TV series or movies adapted from books I love.

I get your point on Blackthorne and I agree that the one in the TV series doesn't appear as good as the book character, however, when it comes to the depiction of Japan at that time I think this adaptation is awesome and will make a lot of people watching it curious to find more about Japan, its history, culture, etc. As you comment suggests, you expect to see some specifics scenes in the TV series as written in the book, it's understandable of course, but like I wrote before, it's pointless to watch an adaptation with this mindset because it's bound to disappointment most of the time. It's always the case for me so I do relate with you but I think this one, as an adaptation and for someone who hasn't read the book, is very good.

Episode 3 didn't disappoint. I really like how precise and detailed everything is shown if you know and pay attention to it. In terms of production and historical depiction this is definitely a masterpiece.

It's a good show but it shouldnt be on MDL since it's AMERICAN and not japanese
Sanada Hiroyuki isn't Japanese maybe ? He is one of the producers, so it's a co-production, it has totally its place here.
