The queen you are referring to is the "Daebi", the Queen Dowager. The second wife of the current king's father that was crowned queen after his mother was deposed (so his step-mother). And his grandmother is the "Wangdaebi", the Great Queen Dowager or Royal Queen Dowager.
Sounds like silly nitpicking to me."Haute cuisine" is also used in French (even extensively in its Wikipedia…
French people are so dumb. If Wikipedia and English speaking people say "haute cuisine", why do they keep saying "grande cuisine" or "haute gastronomie" seriously ? They should really change the way they speak.
I checked and the French Wikipedia page is about "Grande cuisine" though, but don't mind my silly nitpicking.
Haute cuisine ?! It's grande cuisine or haute gastronomie in France. And these meals are nowhere near what was actually served and eaten in Versailles during Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI reigns... The French steak tartare recipe is from the early 20th century. Such nonsense.
I am only watching this for the close-ups on Chae Min face when he eats. It's a delight. ^^ And this role really suits him very well. For the rest, it's ridiculous, but of course it's popular.
And once again a news that has literally nothing to do with dramas and films, the man is not even an actor. For sure Lily Alice never disappoints when it comes to "scandals".
I hope that, as a Disney production, it will bring a level of quality equal as "Shogun". It's only a first teaser but it looks promising and at least it's not a rom/com or fusion sageuk mixing comedy, tragedy and everything all together, which is, for of true sageuk lover like me, already a very good point. Looking forward to it.
What a weird thing to say. It sounds like you’ve never actually experienced racism or had your culture mocked…
Belittling someone and feeling pity for them are not the same thing at all. The meaning of my words was litteral. I really feel sorry for people who always see the world that way. It was not cynical. And finding some people's worldview narrow and negative is not belittling them either.
Han Ye sul speaks french and in her drama so did Lee-Yeon Hee. There was another who was a french translator who…
As I wrote, "that I have seen of course". ;) I haven't watched any drama with Han Ye Seul. And I have seen Lee Yun Hee only in sageuk, but I don't remember her speaking French in it so it must be another one I haven't watched too.
As expected it's not my cup of tea as fusion sageuk that mixes all genres isn't my thing, but it's not bad neither. The production is very good. Im Yoon Ah is the first Korean actress speaking a decent French in a drama (that I have seen of course), so this must be pointed, and I'm looking forward to Kang Han Na (so good at playing the villain concubine) and Seo Yi Sook (as the Queen Dowager) performances.
And of course there is Chae Min. I knew he would be good in this role, and he definitely is, I hope everybody will see it. The king role suits him very well and I found his interpretation of the character very good in the first two episodes (it could have been even better if it was a serious sageuk that doesn't mix everything). And I'm looking forward to more close-ups on his handsome face while he enjoys food (and more hopefully ^^).
"Bon Appétit, Your Majesty" isn't the kind of sageuk I really like, but Chae Min is doing a great job portraying King Yi Heon. I'm looking forward to the next episodes only for him.

Except that there is a difference between making a general assumption, which I do and of course is never 100% true, and targeting one specific person with assumptions, which I didn't do. But of course, as your comments show, you are the only one that can be right and I'm just a weird boomer grand-mother, so what do I know ?
