I really liked your idea, since I guess I like balanced stories too. I'm not going to fret about a wrist…
Right? They do it so often! They completely break people's limits. Like joking with people's strong fears (of heights, of dogs, of water, and so on). In real life there's a lot of people who laugh about these things for real. Who laugh when a person falls really badly. Thy'll first laugh, then eventually they slowly realise that the other person is really hurt or in pain or seriously freaking out and then they feel sorry. But laugh the next time again. (°-°) They really do not understand the difference. Usually, because it never happened to them or these kinds of things are commonly accepted. Guys tend to be worse than girls, too. Though female bullying is just as terrible. (T~T)
I love dramas about possessive/crazily jealous male leads. (Yes, feel free to recommend, but take it as a challenge…
It's the confrontation with our own wish for leadership that at some point realises the limit of abuse and goes up in love (or at least tries). And it's a confrontation with our own inner self-abusing behaviour, too. Like a safe way to dip into it and figure out what we like or don't and why. It's an inner school for inner growth that spares us the overly hurtful real-life experience that will usually leave behind too much damage to grow from it. :)
"Any favourites like Tsukasa Domyoji (Boys over Flowers) or any you loathe? "
I just finished that one and seriously, I wonder how I made it through. They took really good human treats and mixed them with the most ugly ones. It was a back and forth that is unlikely to appear in real life to such extremes (not with this much flipping-the-switch from mode A to mode B at each corner). Around the middle of each part I kept thinking: 'Goodness girl, run as long as you can! This is not strength. This is highly self-abusing masochism.'. Because as much as they excuse this screwed guy's character with a screwed childhood and family, it's not the job of a partner to mend that screwed part from scratch and for everything to fall apart the moment that partner is not available. That drama threw the whole responsibility for self overboard and unfortunately labled things as love that are not. Even the parent-child relationships were screwed and full of abuse. That was really sad and hard to see labled as "OK", "admirable" or "loving parental behaviour". I don't even want to start on the subjects of friendship, though that part is the only part that kind of kept saving the whole drama. But then I think back to what I've seen in Japan during my one year stay, and I understand where this is coming from. Things are slowly changing, but they do not come from nowhere.
*takes a deep breath* Thanks for this entry. It came at the right time to give space to all of these emotions. :')
Ah, it's finally over. Honestly, I've inwardly cursed a lot for once. The very very end of the movie was funny. As for the whole movie and the whole series, it has some very very good points but is overall so heavily abusive, that it makes me sick. I can't give it more than a well meant 5/10. The me in the past might have thought differently. Realising that, I could see how much I've grown. For that I'm thankful. If you made it through the whole story to this point, congratulations. I hope you laught a little, thought a lot about life and take everything with a grain of salt in the end. ;)
It's a bit like in life. First they all try to get their way and interfere, then when the damage is done they start to realize what mess they made out of other people's lifes, they come crawling to apologise. (=_=) They're really there, those people who don't think even a single step ahead due to their selfish desires. This drama is overfloing with such people. If it had a second season the whole extent of the damage done would unfold until nothing is left. In worst case not even the good memories.
I have problams rating this. Partly it's very good. As much as the story is full of cruelty. Though not impossible, for it to end without grunge it'd take very very very strong people, which makes it hard to take, especially at this pace that the showdown happened at.
What disturbed me the most though is something I found to be very unexpected. It's the main actors. I couldn't help it, but I kept being distracted from the story by those two more and more towards the end. It's like they can't laugh. It somehow looks forced to me, like they're trying (too) hard. The kissing, too, it's ....... XD ...well half of it can be excused by it being a Japanese production, I guess.
It's nice in some ways but it's also odd. The camera and cut are strange during the flashbacks. The beginning is king of hasty. And I felt like I didn't see this yet half of it was so familiar. I'm not talking about the storyline alone. And not even about the typical set of school-romance actions and clichés. It's the settings. I feel like I've seen half of these places in other similar movies but with the camera angle being a bit different. That was so odd that it kept distracting me from the actual action. And as I'm reading a few of the comments, I also realize that I, too, found the chemistry between the leads a tad off.
Not bad. Good quality stuff to fill some spare time for sure. And if you've not seen many school-romance dramas, starting from this one is probably good. It's just not top-notch for me personally.
I'm up for watching this, but gosh this trailer looks like a complete spoiler. Why do they show a complilation of what looks like all the highlights? XDD Well, hope to still enjoy.

OK so the trailer was an absolute spoiler, but it's a slow n quiet movie, so the moments in-between are the most beautiful. However, honestly speaking, I'm upset. His way of doing things are screwed and for heaven's sake, that's not love. I mean not done out of love. Because there would have bean better ways to get himself time to change without causing her such a huge shock. What they never say nor show is, that this will stand between them for ever (or ages at least). It's nothing that heals easily. And you can see it. Look at her face when she enters the flat the last time. Her hesitating and listening for sounds. It's these kinds of things that are left unhealed and then slowly eat up the relationship at difficult times. *sighs* Well ... I'm not too surprised, considering it's a Japanese movie though. One of the countries with the majority of people being more of the quiet kind (Which has merits of it's own, ofcourse).
The RAW is on "asia DOT indomoviemania DOT co" in really good quality. If you find subs anywhere you can load the srt file into the stream player :) Cause it just has Indonesian subs atm.
As for the movie itself, I love the part before the end that doesn't go like such movies would usually go. I'm sure you know what I mean. The bike ride and such ;D *avoids spoilers* It's really goo overall. Made me remember how important it is to go with someone who'll be fine laughing over the hard times afterwards!
Btw. I was kind of shocked how the mom turned out, considering her considerate nature in the side story! (°-°) That was rather unexpected!
A lot of typical Christmas love story in there, but the ending is really surprising! A really realistic one, which has it's own beauty to it! :) I also like how there's that childish imagination going on! Apparently this is a big treasure no adult should lose! Once it's gone, the magic gets lost on you, too. Though it's not like you can't breathe new life into it any time (^_~)b Great movie! Not sure if I'd rewatch it, but definitly worth watching at least once! Especially since it's light and spares you the stress of 'too much drama', compare to other movies!
*laughs* I see a lot of age gaps in the comments. Well, I know where they're coming from but I'm laughing. Because it's a mind concept. While I'm not saying that dealing with an age gap is easy, if you take an older partner who maintained their imagination and a younger partner, who is very grown up, it can work just fine. It IS a challenging relationship form. Because it requires both parties to be very far in their personal growth and have a lot of flexibility in their minds. But in the end, love really doesn't ask questions and has no conditions. Relationship does have. But hey, relationship is a challenge anyways. And why not enjoy it to the fullest and grow with it as far as you possibly can. And if at some point your do happen to grow apart after all, then so it be! A new journey can start from there on. Again, not saying it's easy. But far from impossible!
I like this movie for challenging our mind sets! If you think about it well, big age gaps were a common thing not very long ago. Maybe go back a 100 years in time. Even today it's not half as uncommon as society may make us think. Apparently, things are a matter of viewpoint! It's about what you make of things!
You saw this Naoto? He could have taken that kid-woman and told her off. Story over. But he saw the potential in her being as she was in that very moment. It's not just a fairytale-like story. This is for real. And have you never found out that someone or something you considered stupid/annoying was actually a good thing/person to encounter?
I can recommend this movie! It's annoyingly sweet *lol*, noisy and dream-like! But it has the potential to inspire you and bring you back down to the essence and base of what is truly meaningful in life. If you dare to switch your viewpoint and look at it from all angles.

But, this is just me and my very personal preference!
*during the last 3rd of the movie*
I want to drop this. It's disgusting through and through.
*keeps watching, hoping that they somehow save the end at least
( ° ° )
They didn't save it! It could have been a eally good story, and they actually managed to ruin it. Wow! Just how much talent does it take to mess up a plot like this?
I'm seriously dissapointed! Really! The film was shot in a great way. And the music was good, but ...... I have no words!
It's like they're stomping on musicians to the very last minute! At least they make it quite clear how disgusting it is for everybody involved when there's nothing but lies. And how much freedom honesty can bring.
For everyone who feels like replying, I'll say this ahead: Yes, I saw it to the end. The end after the credits were gone. To the last scene and this is my personal conclusion. While you may ask "Why?" if you happen to be very curious, you may also have your own opinion but leave mine to me, too, please!
Nice actors, yet not the best acting. The music is hard to listen to if you've got good ears! :'D And as so often it hurts watching them play at times when movements don't fit the music but hey, at least they did use real musicians for some shots!!
What I don't like is how the topic of rape is treated lightly! That's an absolute no go. (Blame the original for that)
So it has good and bad points. If you're into BL and don't have much left to chose from on your list, then try this. Because a big plus would be that it does have a good ending, even if it's slightly half-assed!
