So, the fl’s son first appears in ep 3. The boy calls the fl “mother” in front of the ml. The ml barely…
a throwaway line in ep2 or ep3 when the FL was being saved by the Wind Pavilion was that she was pregnant. Likely ML was not aware as he was away during the events of the frame up. The kid is staying / hiding in the Rain Pavilion as FL has dictated that no one should enter or leave without her permissions - though for some reason the show still shows ppl coming in and out with impunity.
Drama adaptations won't and will never be a hundred percent exact copy of the novel, there will always be changes…
I understand what the director tried for- but i think it would work better if WYF had returned to SY and her friends on her own accord - and not as a byproduct of them finding her
perhaps the flow would have sat better if
> ZSQ and SHA goes to HK to find her while leaving messages and calls on ori line > ballet teacher backstory and conversation > WYF self reflection > turns on ori phone and see messages and coming to a realization that running away is also hurting ppl who loves and cares for her, which during high school arc was 0 in her POV > calls ZSQ and arranges to meet her and SHA > follows drama from cafe meetup point
in novel she didn't left for HK the way it was shown in drama episode 24 or 25 ?
no.
if you are interested. the HK arc replaces the novel's take between chapter 64 (when WYF confronts her family - i actually feel drama made this more poignant) to chapter 70 (conversation at hotel)
what they gave up was a lot of "flashback / memory recall exposition" which undoubtedly the drama did better, and more tie-ins to Hidden Love (which @ the pt of story was just an easter egg and not needed imo)
there are ppl who likes the drama decision, and there are those who prefer the novel's route. to each their own. I think the experience is jarring for some because the HK arc may have been better served with more "tell moments - directly state" vs "show moments - subtext", which failed to land with segments who were already turned off by the change when majority of the drama till that point had adapted the novel closely
May be a spoiler but the WYF you see in earlier eps is one that "self-deprecates herself" - She does not spend money on herself, eats minimally and unhealthily, does not put on make up or minimal grooming.
as the story progresses and she starts healing mentally, she will look better and better
i dunno why I am struggling with the starting episodes , already the leads barely speak with each other and even…
it's a slow burn. Give it 10eps or so - there is a reason when the series first released, Youku dropped a ton of eps on week 1- which was also what hurt Netflix (and brought in the trolls). As the story progresses - you will realise the "why" to your question.
Can someone plz tell me whether he died in the end? (did he die in the novel?) In the final scene he stands with…
i see it as being on borrowed time. He will likely leave earlier than most. i am actually more curious about the last lie from hanyan that he did not allow her to explain
was rewatching ep 26 to verify something i heard - @36:14 ZSQ actually mentioned that WYF has been in HK for 1.5 years instead of 6 months - although subs just translated it to "she's been living in HK China for a long time now"
script error or a rewrite? or majority misunderstood the timeline?
This helped me move on a little from TFF. If you’d like to read the novel, you can check it out here:https://kaeriinmichi.notion.site/First-Frost-18eae4d111bd80c8ac5fce8648129b6aIt…
think they should have done the honeymoon chapter to close the loop of "i dreamt you were honeymooning in Yihe". They had the very same line in the drama and i was hopeful lol
why is the fl mother so heartless..... she does not deserve to be a mom at allmy blood just boils whenever i see…
drama is also missing some context from the novel in ep 30. The mum and stepfather got together (and pregnant) within 3 months of the dad's passing. in the novel she miscarried and is not the little kid WYF meets during Lunar New Year
That makes her so much worse in my eyes. The father's message at the death bed was basically flushed down the toilet
for the drama only sequences - best for me is no doubt the videos during the proposal. it was a really nice touch and serve to both make the characters feel real, and for viewers to reminiscence with them.
elements of the novel missed that I wished they adapted: - Duan Jiaxu as WYF's "love rival" - SY had just resigned his job with the intention to go to Yihe to look for WYF after she had resigned from Yihe Daily. IIRC it was like a farewell party the day he met her @ overtime
HK Arc did not sit right for me - not because of the comments ppl made, but i felt her mentality between her running there and then returning was very abrupt - if WYF was supposed to have grown or developed i am not seeing it. short of a "F - they found me. time to stop running"

i believe it is intended.
