Yes, he was always meant to “fail” bc he wasn’t sent to the past to try and stop his father’s accident,…
What I only wished was for the last episode to be a little longer. The ending was kinda predictable already after the events of episode 11. If only they were able to compare and contrast their darkest moments when Yi Chan and Chung Ah met in a sign language school in the original timeline vs. a bittersweet but a better life for both of them after Eun Gyeol time travelled. That would've made me cry twice the amount of tears than when I had first watched this.
hot take: I feel like it would've resonated much more, if he had returned to his normal hard life but made up…
I think it's not about the money and fame. I think it's more of "when you raise someone, even with a disability, with the proper love and care, he/she can be successful too."
Had it not been for that stupid love triangle, serious conflicts such as in episode 11 could have occurred way earlier in the series, giving more premises for character development. The "antagonist" could've been the child support court, while the in-laws could've been actively figuring things out step by step to become better parents for woo joo. There was too much potential from the synopsis itself. The writer ruined it big time.
With all due respect, if you don't have a clear idea on world-building and writing subplots that flow smoothly between one another and depict character development not only on the leads but all the people around them, I suggest you should focus on writing movie scripts first. At the end of episode 10, I understood that you want to make a point that FL had to "sink in" with the feeling that she lost ML by her side to realize that he's the one she really loved. Yes, that particular trope could be useful, but in this drama, at the expense of lots of other elements and majority of the episodes that could have made this drama one of the best ones this year.
You started off strong with cliched yet genuinely comedic scenes in the first couple of episodes. Then you brought in a third character to simulate a love triangle that could've maked sense if their screentime was balanced. Yet you overused the trope more than I could use my phone when I doomscroll reels on instagram. All you had to do was summarize SML's portrayal of being (too) kind to her, perhaps show more of their flashbacks as schoolmates, all while introducing subplots around his father, amy choo, FL's sister and ML's brother's relationship and raising woo joo, and even woo joo himself, which could lead to future major yet realistic conflicts that build on to the climax of the story. You were so focused on making FL see her love to ML but you forgot how she could've developed as a character (e.g. standing up to her colleagues because she faced the same when she started on bs food; standing up on sunbae for her personal time because she already experienced seeing woo joo getting hurt because of her negligence; and trying hard to not let things easily slip through because she learned from what happened to her and her sister).
Now we're at the end of episode 10 and instead of swooning and cheering for great timing, I genuinely felt cringey from FL's confession and the way she immediately kissed ML. If that were me, I'd be like, "who the f are you to toy with my emotions?". You have wasted all those episodes that could've been an opportunity for ML and FL to dig deeper both on themselves and unto one another, and most of all, you used the charm of a little kid to try to get away with that. The english title is literlaly "Our Universe" yet you don't know how to depict the universe of all the characters (lead and support) of this drama. I hope the audience feedback serves a lesson for you to make write better stories in the future.
The only way to save this drama is a plot twist that sunbae is an antagonist or something. But even then, this would still be terrible writing. Sometimes I wonder if a human really wrote this or the script is also AI generated.
You've nailed the plot holes. If only one of them could take custody of the child, it has to be the ML. He already…
This is also the reason why many women prefer staying childfree. They know it's not a walk in the park.
Anyway, if you can observe from episode 1, both ML and FL show their immaturity. ML is gaining significant character development, while FL obviously needs more time. This is aligned with the fact that ML had sound reason to be mad at his brother for abandoning him without giving a clear explanation, while FL's anger is baseless and stubborn, again rooted on her individualistic self and desire to "not get help from anyone else", even if it was her sister. Add to that her towering pride that she broke up with her ex because she didn't want to be seen as a poor girlfriend who piggybacked on her boyfriend's scholarship, again from the notion of "not wanting to be helped." Ironically, her "temporary helper" is doing all effort behind the scenes to make her eventually realize her mistakes. This will be a slow burn throughout the drama though.
Please don't think of this as misogyny towards the FL. ML has issues too. He did not allow his brother an opportunity to explain. He loathed her brother even to his grave. Until now even while acting as a babysitter for wooju, he has no sense of missing his brother or finding closure on that abandonment. Though not apparent, this is also a problem of his that will take the entire series to resolve. I would expect that he'll also break down at some point, when he realizes that his brother had a sound reason for what he did to him. Perhaps it is to protect him (that's just my theory though).
Nonetheless, it still apparent at the moment that FL is still not behaving like a real parent to wooju, hence my comment. I do hope though that things will be better eventually in the next episodes.

This is why ML did not want to do anything with the child at first, because from the very start he knew that raising one is a huge responsibility, more than words can describe. Though, it's good that the situation allowed him to take care of wooju, because he does not want him to experience what he experienced.

I did not mean that mothers have to give up their whole lives to raise a child. There are adjustments that you have to make when you commit to getting custody. First and foremost is that she should acknowledge she is not living a life of a single woman anymore. If she wants to stay with the same individualistic routine, then wooju is better off with ML as his guardian.
WooJoo and Samcheon’s bond was best in this episode❤️And the sml plot should just be over oh lord!! Cause…
ML already on his journey to healing from his abandonment during childhood, while FL still can't move on from his ex and chose to stay working on the company despite the imminent tension.
I was never more dissapointed with a screen writer then I am now. I am not upset with the ML, nor with the SML.…
You've nailed the plot holes. If only one of them could take custody of the child, it has to be the ML. He already went through significant character development halfway through the series, while her story solely revolves around her Suzy fantasy. I hope she'd realize that she has to leave her too romantic past behind and focus on raising the kid if she commits to this responsibility. In reality, that's what happens when you suddenly find yourself as the sole guardian of your nephew / niece.
