Read your article. Went straight to the drama series. Watched episode one. Began episode two and found myself so grateful for this "Mini Recommendation" that I paused to express my gratitude to you. Thank You, Cho Na!
I liked the Korean version, but overall I liked the Japanese version a bit better for many of the reasons mentioned in this article. I am one of the few who did not have second lead syndrome when watching the Korean version, but I experienced a bit of it in the Japanese version. The character played by Akaso Eiji felt more warm, thoughtful, and sincere than the Korean character.
Asano Inio is a wonderful writer and artist. I highly recommend his manga series. The film Solanin was done well, and I look forward to A girl on the Shore.
Ep 12 was solid and very funny (looking at you Chan😂) and the only thing that pisses me off is the noble idiocy…
LOL I didn't even think of that! And I will NEVER forgive the writers for the BTIMFL Break up! It remains a favorite, but I can only rewatch it by fast-forwarding through that part.
You're very welcome! Thanks for your comment. What were some of the things that you enjoyed the most about the…
I enjoyed the drama for all the many reasons you covered in this article. I especially appreciated that although Kurumi and Shun were opposites, their differences were never presented as right vs. wrong or polarizing. The focus was on understanding each other, learning and growing. I felt this was true for all the relationships and experiences throughout the drama.
What a wonderful article about this lovely drama! It reminds me of all the things I enjoyed during the series and it makes me want to go back and rewatch it to revisit all the places and food. Thank You!
My heart aches and my eyes well with tears from just seeing the pictures of Chicago Typewriter. Wonderful Article. I keep putting off Mr. Sunshine but this makes me want to watch it soon.
I watch Ho Goo's Love at least once a year. It is such a charming series.
The series is not heavy. It is warm-hearted, funny, and surprisingly moving at times. Rape is a heavy subject and it is in the story - mostly in the later episodes. There is no rape scene but it is emotional just knowing that a rape/sexual assault occurred at some point. It also touches a bit on how the victims are treated compared to the accused (the villain) especially if wealth or celebrity is involved on either side.
It is upsetting that the villain does not immediately get what he deserves, but the writers handled it in a bit of an open-ended fashion where a legal action leaves room for the villain to still be convicted. So you are not left feeling hopeless. I hope this helps without giving away too much.
It was such a fun, and unique series. I loved it!
