Two words after watching the latest episode: Hello Monster. If you love what you saw at the end of episode 4 (that bad boy image of Park Bo Gum), then go watch that drama I mentioned.
That's how I discovered him and he wasn't just a bad boy in there, but more like an evil- I'm just gonna stop there since I'm gonna give a huge spoiler lol.
Enjoying this drama so far. No Love triangle please! This is the first PBG drama I'm watching. He's so good in…
His best performance yet would be one of his earliest works which is Hello Monster. You'll see he is more suitable for serious or more complicated roles.
Yes, I do. I do now. Haha I was answering the title. This is definitely one of my favorites this season and the fast progression from friendship to something deeper is just perfecto. I love that everything's subtle and toned down but more impactful and realistic.
I agree. I couldn't concentrate (I mean it's playing halfway while I'm typing this) 'cause it feels like a documentary…
Exactly! They should let the viewers interpret the story because they're treating us as if we're stupid that they have to spoon-feed us. And yes, you should try that show!
I agree. I couldn't concentrate (I mean it's playing halfway while I'm typing this) 'cause it feels like a documentary…
I think we can't sympathize with them because the pov is too one-sided. We hear not see their side from their thoughts, so it's like we're forced to judge the situation from their shoes not by the situation presented; the view is highly subjective not objective. I mean it should be played out or represented by the scene, so we can judge and observe not like listening to a friend's one-sided life complaints. That's how it felt to me.
Btw, I highly suggest Be Melodramatic if you haven't watched it. Slice-of-life stories should be done like that. Coming-of-age and slice-of-life stories like this are interesting, especially to people in their 20s like me as I should be able to relate to it, but this means a quality script is a necessity not an option because it can easily get boring as there are no stunts, cgi effects, fantasy elements, or any stunning visuals that keeps the viewer entertained or distracted to cover the average or even subpar plot.
Am I the only one who did not like the first episode? It was a little underwhelming, tbh! ?
I agree. I couldn't concentrate (I mean it's playing halfway while I'm typing this) 'cause it feels like a documentary about youth and their hard part-time jobs without much context. It feels like we were just randomly dropped into their world and watching them work. Just work. And then we get a lot of screentime for the side characters who we might not care about for now or even later. I'll probably give it until episode 2 or 3 to see if it will get better.
I love this drama for making me feel that the family I never had might exists somewhere (tv or real life). Hopefully, there is a family like this. I like what Zi Qiu said to his biological father at the end. Somewhere along these lines: "You took me in when I was already 18. We never really formed a bond, so how can we be family?" This was his reply to ZHG who kept insisting that how can they not have any bond when they're blood-related. Who said blood creates bond? It's the experience and time of being together and being there for each other that forms it. And this drama represented that excellently.
I'll definitely watch out for the director and writer's future works. This show elevated the quality of Chinese dramas for me. I almost never skipped a scene and that's something new for me in watching a C-drama.
I'm biting my nails like real Baek Hee Sung in anticipation of the next episode. I simply can't wait. This drama is giving me the same level of intensity I felt long ago with Signal haha.
how much romance is in this? like can someone give me a percentage estimate? thx :)
Yeah, there is and a good one at that. For me Zi Qiu and Li Pa are the ultimate romance here. I mean that's true unconditional love right there. From the moment Li Pa lit up the first time little Zi Qiu called him dad, it's like he won the lottery and continued to nurture the relationship even as Zi Qiu grew into an adult and was gone for 9 years. The only thing he wanted from Zi Qiu was to be treated like his dad and same goes for Zi Qiu. If that's not true romance/love, then I don't know what is haha.
Am I the only one who searched wagashi desserts on Youtube and is planning to make a reservation now at a nearby Japanese dessert bar after watching this drama? I've been obsessed and fascinated in Japanese culture for more than a decade now and this has been my first time knowing about this type of dessert.
This is a mix of Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean dramas:Reply series (1997, 1994, 1988) - I feel that…
You're welcome! I don't like the Korean version of In Time With You but liked the Japanese one, so you should give it a try. That's a good idea...if I can find time haha.
Any recommendations for LX and LJ similar love story? The usual ML in love all along with FL or the going away…
This is a mix of Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean dramas:
Reply series (1997, 1994, 1988) - I feel that the writer got inspired by this drama with the similarities in themes.
In Time With You (original Taiwanese version) - Li Da Ren is the less courageous and less decisive version of Ling Xiao. Maybe. The guy is too nice for his own good and you might love him or not.
I Don't Love You Yet (Japanese version of the drama above) - There are some changes in plot and main characters' interpretation.
Someday or One Day - you probably know this one since it's been getting a lot of attention here. Hands-down best Taiwanese drama by far.
Hana Yori Dango - oldie but goodie. The dramas that started many tropes.
Put Your Head on My Shoulders - I don't think I need to say anything as this one's really popular.
Hospital Playlist - this is more like male leads not just male lead haha.
Into the Ring - I've been recommending this drama everywhere for a reason, so trust me on this haha.
Orange Days - old, sappy, and good.
N no Tame Ni - completely different genre (murder, mystery, childhood love story) where let's just say the male lead goes above and beyond for the female lead. Explaining that further will just give away the mystery.
My Unfamiliar Family - From bestfriends to lovers. My favorite kind of story haha.
Something in the Rain - some might dislike this, but I don't because of the realistic romantic interactions.
Love Me If You Dare - WARNING: the male lead's attractiveness is too distracting that it might take away your attention from the mystery plot lol.
There's so many dramas like that than you probably think and there's more I can recommend but I'll stop here since it's gonna get longer haha.
I know the amazing plot has been praised enough here, so I just want to mention Lee Joon Ki and how much he distracts me!
Every time a scene comes up with him, my mind goes blank because he is that handsomely distracting haha. I don't know if it's Do Hyun, his character or Joon Ki himself, but the guy is oozing with pheromones I'm tellin' ya!!!
This is just weird 'cause I've known him for more than a decade now and yes, I always find him attractive but this! This is just another level of attraction ya'll lol. I guess age and experience adds a lot to a person's image.
WHY!?!!?? I just saw iQIYI a while ago and you're right! My morning is ruuuuined lol. Please do tell me were to…
Thanks a lot! I'm sending virtual cakes and pastries made by Zi Qiu for my appreciation haha. And yes, you might be right about the episode 'cause I saw some comments saying the episodes lately are like fillers.
Lucky you...I only watched till ep 14 before it was removed....
Xie xie haha. Anything helps. I'm counting the hours now like it's New Year's countdown 'til it gets subbed at iQIYI. Afterall, I won't get the VIP free trial if not for this show lol.
Lucky you...I only watched till ep 14 before it was removed....
Can we just hack iqiyi or download a torrent file?!??! Lol. Are those clips on the Douyin website? Please tell me 'cause I'm watching clips from Youtube and they might be different haha.
Lucky you...I only watched till ep 14 before it was removed....
Same thing happened to me! I was even trying to download VPN because it says it's because of my region haha. But I was so pissed since it feels like somebody gave me a candy and took it away from me when I was this close lol.
