I love Kurosawa! I still need to finish watching all this movies but I think my favorite of his so far is Ikiru, though I still haven't gotten around to seeing Seven Samurai which is what most people love the most.
Finished it and was surprisingly delighted by this! I though for sure Ando Masanbou wasn't going to be one of the leading men cause his name was fifth in the credits but he is in fact one of the leads! All I can say is thank god because I didn't think I would ever live to see the day I saw him in a romance drama where he's actually the lead and it's good. I've been wanting this since seeing him in Battle Royale and crushing hard on him lol.
I would love for them to make a Korean remake of this! I loved this novela when it came out and Gaby was so gorgeous. Maybe they could also remake La Otra which also sorta had twins except in that story it was doppelgangers. Though they'd have to find a great actress cause Yadhira Carillo was a tour de force as Cordelia/ Carlota.
So I want to watch this on dramafever but it says that after episode 5 the rest are on premium and I don't have premium. Are the episodes gonna eventually not be premium exclusive?
I agree with the gender bender. I only really like You're Beautiful, Hana-Kimi and Coffee Prince. Didn't really like Secret Garden cause I thought the main guy was an arrogant prick and I only ever really liked Hyun Bin in My Lovely Sam Soon, sadly everywhere else I've seen him I just don't really end up liking his character.
I think the best romances probably come from kdramas since American TV series are usually long and take a while for the pair to get together or they break-up and are on-again-off again. I do really Crazy Ex-Girlfriend though. I think that's best American rom-com series I've ever seen.
So I really wanted to love this because the trailer for this was beautiful and and the scenery and film looked beautiful and the acting was good but I just wasn't really feeling it. Mostly because I felt the guy was unlikable near the middle and end. I also disliked that the film just chose to focus on the guy near the end, like did they ever explain what happened to Xiao Xiao during the years when they broke up? She gives him two version of where she's been but never confirms what she was really up to unless I missed it.
I feel other films about young love and heartbreak spanning years have been done better like Umbrellas from Cherbourg, The Way We Were, and Splendor in the Grass.
***Spoilers Also I felt like the guy never owned up to being a ass near the end or apologized to her for it. Also did they get back together a second time when they met up with his dad and he was successful? I was confused about that part like she goes from not answering his calls to having a meal with his dad.*****
They recently did a Mexican remake of My Husband Got a Family (a.k.a Unexpected you) called Mi Marido Tiene Familia and it's pretty good and sticks close to the original so far. Although some of the character are a lot more over dramatic than the original counterparts.
Wanted to watch this on dramafever but only 2 episodes are available for free the rest are premium so I would have to pay. Is this Dramafever's new thing now where only premium members can watch their exclusive drama? Cause it used to be that episodes were exclusive for premium users for 1 week and then was free to the public. Is it not like this anymore?
I find it funny as well that people jump to the conclusion that she may have retired because her husband forced…
I think people are jumping to that conclusion because of how creepy her husband acted to get with her. You can read about it in the link in the article. It honestly seemed like she didn't even like him romantically at all since she didn't even give him his number and then all of a sudden they're married without dating. It's just really unusual.
I'm confused about the order of the brothers. I'm assuming the crowned prince is the 1st prince and I know Yo and So are 3rd and 4th prince, but where is 2nd prince? Or the other princes in between gaps, like there is an 8th prince but where is 5th or 6th prince?
Tried to watch 2 lakorns before. Both had rapist and victim turn lovers. My shampoo insides were boiled and I…
I know what you mean, a lot of slap-kiss lakorns are like that but romantic comedy lakorns are almost never like (I have yet to see one that is) and all 4 of these are on the lighter side and not slap-kiss genre so none of these have rape in it.
Omg love this and totally agree with it! I love that you pick Hana Yori Dango over the other ones because it truly enjoyed it the most especially because of the cast and chemistry. Also I liked Itazura na Kiss the best because I liked Kotoko the best and felt that the taiwanese version annoyed me more. Please make part 2!
Agree with most of the comments that say this was a really abusive and not a romantic story at all. The lead male was really repulsive and childish at abusing the heroine for no actual good reason except because he hated her sister. He was such a spoiled weak piece of human garbage. If you want to a read a story that is a sexy psychological thriller that explores romantic obsession then do yourself a favor and read Into The Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes. I know this lakorn wasn't going for sexy thriller but more of a dark romance I think, but I honestly felt it failed and there was nothing sexy or romantic about the leading love story. At least Into the Darkest Corner started out genuinely romantic.
Reasons why I prefer Kdramas: 1- Better and more complicated storylines. 2- Better acting, which makes me more…
1- Complicated in what way? In scope and grandeur? Like East of Eden and or Giant where there's an ensemble cast and high scale drama? In that case I can't think of a Japanese equivalence to high end drama like this but if you are talking about complicated storylines like drama than I think Bykuyakou and One Million Stars falling from the Sky was complex if not very disturbing.
2- I think there is AMAZING acting in jdramas. Maybe you just ended up watching a teen drama or a manga adaptation where the acting is quirky and cartoonish. But if you are into dark complex human dramas I would recommend watching Last Friends where Ueno Juri is a tour de fource as a in the closet transgender person. Or Kimura Takuya as a sociopath in One Million Stars Falling from the Sky. Erika Sawajiri is also an example of amazing acting of a person with a neurological disease in One Litre of Tears. Also the entire cast of JIN were all fantastic and the girls in this version were so much less catty towards each other compared to the Korean remake. But if you're looking for more light hearted comedic fair I really like the dry humor and acting of Abe Hiroshi in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko or the quirky characters is Saikou no Rikon which had at times unlikable but complex characters,
3- Sure.
Overall I think the acting in Japanese drama are just as good if not at times better than some kdramas out there. Just look to the acting of dramas that have Oguri Shun, Kimura Takuya, Ueno Juri, Miho Kanno, Abe Hiroshi, Amami Yuki, etc.
