YU speaks Japanese, he's from Japan/ Japanese but I believe his mother is Thaiwanese
No, they switch back and forth between Japanese and Mandarin. Yu will randomly throw in Japanese phrases throughout both seasons - and often, it seems to be when he's saying something gooey/embarrassing to GSD/Sam Lin. Like the bridge scene in the first season, he yells I love you in Japanese off the side of the bridge. GSD must understand - I personally believe that he learned Japanese at some point in his life just so he could understand Shen Yi's mutterings and cursing. I'd be so in character of him. (he does respond with a Japanese word here or there if I remember correctly, not to say that this supports my theory)
If ep 2 from 27:21 onward into ep 3 doesn't count, I don't know what will. Bare shoulders? Serious steam? :D
I would agree that as the market has become more saturated, the quality of BLs have gone down in some cases. Especially in Japan and Thailand. I'm hoping it's going to balance itself over time. There are still good ones, just so many more bad ones.

I just rewatched season 1 because I didn't want season 2 to end. Season 1 was actually better than I remember!! Especially after they (Spoiler) explain at the end why GSD used the video against Shu Yi. But we all have things that we look for in shows that make us love them, and they're different for everyone. I value good acting first and foremost, and a good plot right after. Did you watch the special episode after watching season one? That helps set up Season 2 and makes it so much more understandable. Anyway, Sam Lin's acting in S 1 was fantastic after watching it again. (I hadn't liked the blackmail part of the first one, so it hadn't been up there for favorite dramas) Yet his acting in S 2 is even better. And I think other characters' acting have improved as well.
There's just this one leap in time (maybe not even a week) in S2 that threw me, and if you don't pay attention to a couple of lines of dialogue, you won't realize what had been going on during the past couple of days.
(SPOILER)
Shu Yi started acting nice to GSD to get him to fall for him and then break his heart in turn, but they only showed 1-2 scenes of this; however, it went on for a week+, but they only let you know that it'd been going on for a while when GSD and Shou Yi discuss it for a bit while GSD is visiting him to wallow. Anyway, I wish you happiness, and if it comes from rewatching S2, then yay! If not, at least there are a lot of other good BL out there!
1. How is this different than the original We Best Love: Fighting Mr. 2nd? 2. In case you're going through the comments and seeing negative comments, as a veteran viewer of 100s of BL from across Asia, this is one of the best out there. It's the only one I've watched three times. The first one wasn't the best, not much happening for most of it, but this season is literally top 5. Please give it a chance. I feel the chemistry is amazing and the acting is amazing, especially Gao Shi De's.
Is this a BL?? Into the second episode and screaming already
But also, it's not queer bait-y either (if that was even a worry). The relationships and interactions between characters are just so genuine and appreciative.
Looks like it's not on Viki (in my region) anymore. Where have people watched it? (excluding Bilibili as that doesn't work in my region either)(and besides Amazon)
Ok. I've seen a lot of worse BL. At least everything was consensual and everyone was of age. Yeah they spent too much time at the beach, but if you just fast forward it's fine. Though I'm still not sure what little uncle means. From context, is his brother married to his mother?
Expressed Consent is an interesting tag. Does it just mean verbal consent was given/expressed?When clicked it pulls up a lot of BLs Where can I watch the CUT version (yes, not the uncut version). Is it the one on YouTube?
