Am I the only person who hated Yi Joo's dad?? She got all angry at her mom about a situation she had no control over but not her dad. He literally saw a child get abused for years and did nothing about it because she wasn't related to him. Isn't that messed up?? He only became regretful when he realized she was actually his kid. So, basically if she wasnt his kid, he wouldnt have cared otherwise. VERY MESSED UP if you ask me. I, for one think that he's the villian in the drama. Nothing can justify what he did in my book. Yes, Jung Hye tried to poison her but if he didn't allow Jung Hye that much authority over the household then she wouldn't have been able to. He just didn't care because she wasn't his "blood."I can take it a step further and say that ALL the dads were jerks. And I would have some much evidence to justify my claims.
To answer your question on why Junmo killed Gicheul- I would say to prevent guilt. He killed Gicheul before he was able to commit su*c*de infront of Euijeong as he knew how heart-wrenching it would've been for her. She probably would've thought that it was all her fault. Especially since Gicheul would've resorted to doing something that was seen as awful in Catholicism. He wouldn't have been able to buried by the church, one that he and his mother is so fond of. So to sum that up, I think Junmo prevented his wife from feeling too much guilt.
Additionally, in my opinion you hoping they would've ended up together was as mentioned, hope. They both did things that they knew was wrong, her making out with Gicheul and him making out with Haeryeon. Those extramarital acts would've come between them one day. As such, I think them divorcing or parting ways was perfect for the story. If they had stayed together it wouldn't have made sense. There's no marriage that could've withstand something as impactful as that.
Looking at it now, I agree with what you're saying about his relationship with Haeryeon. I for one didn't feel the chemistry, it felt forced especially in the earlier episodes 2-3. However, we could see in small details how Junmo became fond of her. They were always together and he learnt her story and her dreams. Something as simple as that can make people feel a connection. Especially since he started telling her about his childhood and growing up in a run down neighbourhood. Dare I say, they bonded- quite well actually. Him having a junkie dad who was never present and her having a dad who didn't care for her per se. They had common traits and I think they found something in that.
This is in no way to discredit or disregard your opinion btw. Just wanted to share my take and maybe give you another way of finding an answer to you questions.
Totally agree with you. I just finished watching and I can't even remember 5 of the characters names. I felt no connection to any of them. It felt like a chore watching this drama. I also hated how they didn't go in depth with Jae Yi's backstory with her dad or even explored Ji Hyuk's story of how his parents died. They literally just threw a scene with the director telling him it wasn't his fault and showing him "evidence" and just like that we forgot about it. It would've been a great show if character's were given more depth and the plot was better developed.
Thank you so much for this in depth review. I was just considering to watch this however, after reading I think I'll reconsider. Could you recommend anything similar to this that was done well. I've seen Undercover with Ji Jin Hee and would really appreciate something similar. Thank you in advance.
I kinda have to agree with you,and I was a victim of school bullying that lasted four years.I don`t really need…
Idk if you missed an episode or two however 'change' was higlighted in the series. The reporter was a highschool bully and we got to see his story and how he turned himself around. They even showed us how he went out and tried to apologize to his victims. One of which was the ML. So the drama did try to highlight change even if it was not shown much.
But there was no need to mention a country. If someone in the USA tells his friend "my daught er went to study…
he drilled a well in AFRICA, he stopped by one country. Not AFRICA (which is a continent). "I went to Europe and they robbed me." Europe is a continent, specification is necessary when highlighting certain things. Nonetheless, go on with your life. Have a wonderful day, that'll be the last of my replies. Can't have a civilized discussion with someone who doesn't even know what a FALLACY is. As you said, it's 2022. Do some reading. It's embarrassing 🙂
But there was no need to mention a country. If someone in the USA tells his friend "my daught er went to study…
You're mad pressed for someone who sees no problem. Lemme school you. "America has a high crime rate therefore everyone who is American is a criminal." Tell me, is that statement correct? No, it's a FALLACY. I've made hasty generalization and should be called out for it. Additionally, the South Korean media has done the same. They've equated that "Africans" are poor and therefore they need assistance. Which is not the case. Yes, there is some truth in the statement but it's not all true. We're kindly asking and pointing out the fact that they've generalized the entire CONTINENT of AFRICAN and the people within. When in fact there are rich, poor and middle class citizens. Just like in America there are law abiding citizens and criminals. You can't just generalize people like that. It's wrong and disgusting especially in time like this. It's 2022.
You definitely not from "Africa." y'all yt people always do this when people voice their actual opinions about…
dark person?? I'm black and I've never called myself a "DARK" person. I haven't even mentioned my race until NOW and it was just to address your comment. Which Black person says they're "DARK" stop posing as someone you aren't. Acting like profile pics can't be changed to images found on the web.Have you seen my profile pic? Technically I'm Ryu Jun Yeol ig. Keeping it real is definitely NOT what you're doing. Even if it doesn't bother YOU SPECIFICALLY it affects us (other Africans, West Indians aka Caribbeans and clearly other races and ethnicity sees the issue.) The reason why it affects other Africans and West Indians is because BLACK people are normally grouped and never seen as an INDIVIDUAL especially in East Asian Media. So if a random BLACK person who could be from one of the most developed country (Switzerland) visits South Korea they'll always be stereotyped as from "AFRICA" where there isn't any WATER, ELECTRICITY and FOOD. And idk where in "KENYA" you're from but there is running WATER, FOOD and ELECTRICITY even if it's not in abundance in certain rural areas. Plus you telling me to look, " Hatutaki Kutetewa" up really doesn't prove anything. As stated in my paragraph the internet is easily accessible. You could've found that anywhere online.
So here is my opininion I'll take my country as an example If they said " he went to Mauritius to help out the…
clearly no one else agrees with you as yet seeing that you comment still has 0 likes however. if someone does like that comment it'll make them as ignorant, racist and privileged as you
There is no scandal. Only a few people taking a fake outraged stance. I suspect they just want to take this drama…
WOWWWWWW MY GOSH. That's literally our point y'all keep telling us to shut up, it's not a big deal and then go around and say we have the right to express our opinions. That's some double standard bulls**t. I guess persons who see the issue with the drama shouldn't have opinions? If that's it you could jus say so you know
Ah, a good ending in my perspective 😌, I liked that they included pretty brutal and satisfying scenes, I'm…
I agree with everything you've said, except for the part about not being satisfied with the reporter's status damage. I think the drama did a great job when it came to portraying the fact that people do make mistakes and 'F Up' if I may however, it all comes down to realizing where you messed up and seeking forgiveness for that 'F Up.' The reporter lived his life trying to gain absolution which he eventually got. Kyung Min realized that he was sincere and genuinely felt guilty for the ish he did to [them] back then and before Kyung Min even tried threatening him he seeked his forgiveness. So that's why I disagree with that part of your statement. We're humans and we all mess up and yes, his mess up was terrible and disgusting but he grew from it and sought out forgiveness which was granted to him so I think it's just the writer's way of showing us that not everyone gets "gutted" for their atrocities even if we (the viewers) believe they should and forgiveness can be granted if the VICTIM agrees.
So here is my opininion I'll take my country as an example If they said " he went to Mauritius to help out the…
Yes, many African countries receive and accept donations but the point were highlighting isn't even the donations (water giving) per se but the fact that Africa has been clustered into on big nation and not a CONTINENT. Additionally, South Korea acting like they got great water. People literally LOSE their hair if they use their tap water without a filter. It's good that they're trying to "help" but their help wasn't warranted in such a way. Plus, "Africa" may be poor but you're acting like it's the fault of the people. Nope, it's literally due to colonialism and how Western Media has portrayed the entire CONTINENT as a COUNTRY that has yet to be developed. Plus, your use of the word SAVIOUR is mad insensitive. We wouldn't need a "SAVIOUR" (I'm gonna assume you're white because your words seem insensitive and you lack empathy) if your ancestors didn't colonize and dehumanize a whole group of people. So please pack your WHITE SAVIOUR bulls**t and get off MDL. It's quite tragic thinking that people with your mental capacity still out here in this day and age. It's 2022 for God's sake. Knowledge is free and easily accessible. The time you're here having an issue with people calling out your problematic "AJHUSSI" and the racist writers and directors (which you've spelt incorrectly) you'd do some research on the history and the aftereffects of colonialism. Because if colonialism didn't happen this discussion and you typing out, "The whole African continent is people being poor waiting for a saviour," wouldn't have happened. With this being said, I'm gonna end this one with a "F**k you, but have a nice day 🥰."
