I understand that at that time she needed someone the most to comfort her. but it was impossible without communication, as he couldn't read her mind. he was at fault for not realising her issues sooner, what about her? he might fall first but it takes two hands to clap. it needs both parties for the relationship to work.
her problem is she put the responsibility to take care of the relationship on him, while she was the recipient of his affections. it might work while they were dating, but marriage isn't always about showing that kind of love. she must understand about the love in the form of responsibilities now that her current husband might be... different than him.

they both still loved each other when they divorced. it was just their way of loving someone wasn't in synch anymore. they loved in different rhythms. although the result could be the same, but their separation could've been ended better had they communicated it, especially on her part.
some people walking out of the relationship feeling like they're the one losing the most. and clouded by their own feeling, they don't care that they could be the evil character in their ex partner's life.
