I do get what you mean there. Although, maybe that came out wrong haha. I didn't mean to say I look down on her because she has this disability. I meant that since he was a powerful man, he could have rejected the marriage with her. I mean, with his influence and negotiation skills, he can find a way to talk to na in to not expose their family's secret and find a way out of the marriage talks that perhaps it's not the only way for both families to connect. But, since he liked her and wanted to protect Hoo Jee at the same time, he went with the marriage.

The sad part though was, he didn't try to learn sign language so he could understand her because it is a huge nuisance to not be able to be understood. HUHUHU. That bunks my thought of him loving her. BUTTTTT, if there would be a twist that he understood her all along, that would be really really precious. Because, up to this point, it's as if, all this time, everyone around her expected that she would be able to speak which is cheap. No one bothered to imagine what if she never learned to speak. No one ever tried to understand her? Is that how it is in normal households? No. The rest had to learn. And to think 3 years of living together but no sign language for the man? Maybe he was too busy? LOL. I don't expect anything from the mother and the mother in law but the husband, maybe a bit. So, you were right on that. She could have stayed as is.

Makes me miss Twinkling Watermelon. That show made me appreciate sign language to an entirely different league. I guess tho, it's not the point of this story.

But, who do you think is the real villain? I have a feeling it will be a chase from beginning to end.

But the problem with adaptations is they usually change some parts. HUHUHU. I had a recent traumatic experience with those so called adaptations in CDrama. So, I won't totally close myself to the idea that there could be huge changes, but I always hope that somehow whatever changes made would make the drama better.

Alrighty! Opinion check, dramalisters!

1. Romance - I believe the ML liked FL before they even got married. On the last part of episode 2, he ask Na In (or whatever his ex fiancee) if if FL is marrying the son of a construction worker. Na in said yes adding that guy was the worst choice for a husband. ML decided to marry HeeJoo instead. A hero right there, don't you think? Besides, with a powerful man like him, why would he agree to marry a mute? He seems so domineering around her but that's how he protects her. He is just that usual tsundere type of male so he doesn't show.

2. Who is the true culprit? a) I am so invested on the college friend because he appears exactly when things go awry, but it could be a red herring. I usually don't get to answer the who is the villain question most often hahaha. So, I'll revisit this soon hahaha. b) It could be the ex-fiancee too but naah. I don't think so. She pretty much doesn't care at all. c) Somebody related to FL's family seeing how at the trailer of ep 3, he seemed to push the FL's dad and the man seemed to trust him, so, someone they know?

3. What happens next? They eventually get to become closer together because ML would investigate her kidnapping. They will develop stronger feelings for each other. Of course he'll find out that she took over the phone but will eventually accept that it wasn't really her intention from the very beginning. For now, I'll end here wahahahahaha...

Right! 🤣😪 The first episodes are usually hooking until it reaches a plateau and everything gets mixed. I hope they won't do that though because this has been a good story thus far.

They shouldn't keep the kidnapping for many episodes. Or else, it would kill the show. Please don't.

That was my first Cheng Lei drama ever, and every time he made an entrance, I go: Are we getting confused? Which one is actually the real deal? Every single time before he enters, the wind blows, sinister music turns on, he slow-motion looks our way, and shoot love arrows to our hearts! And to think, who can actually tame this devil? Only Shangguan Qian and her deceptive way of breathing! ❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥 Their subtle interactions give a preview of how they are in private 🤣🙄. And then she got pregnant! Dannngggg! It's the only show I'd kill to know what happened next. 😪

I am still on the first part yet, but I noticed there's a change in the synopsis here as compared to the novel summary. And I am worried because this happened in Kill Me Love Me and it was traumatic. But I hope they give justice in the adaptation huhuhu.

This is my first Neo drama, but after finding out he will be the male lead in Love in the Clouds with Lu Yuxiao (Shangguan Qian from MJTY), my curiosity of him skyrocketed. Might as well get to know him since I started it and I liked him.

Somewhat unrelated - I'm reading the novel In the Azure Clouds - a morally grey ML and a subtly seductive but devious FL are literally Neo and Yuxiao. They're both gods descended and disguised, each having their own schemes. My imagination is running wild - getting over me. Although, they might cut out the parts that they were lovers at first and you know what lovers do and you know they're banned. I hope they don't butcher the adaptation.

I've always felt like I have a sense of duty to finish everything I start, but, I've been dropping dramas lately too so.Though I've been so enamored by the music lately because I listened to the playlist and thought maybe I will split screen it again. Besides, I'll watch it for Neo. I just found out he will be in In The Azure Clouds with Lu Yuxiao (Shangguan Qian from MJTY). I'm reading the novel now and danggggg I could already visualize. Though of course this is in the hope that the adaptation is supreme.

Not familiar with the others except Yang Yang. I didn't know he directed.

And Nirvana in Fire 333333? OMGGGGG! Gotta watch that. Didn't like the 2nd as much as the 1st but it is better than most. And it's Leo (not a big fan) and Zhang Wan Yi. Him I like!!!

Disclaimer, I am at Episode 24 (watched it on split screen to be more productive after I got bored). I am here to know if I should continue.

Regarding the plot - Plot is very important for me. It determines whether I should keep on or just drop it. I usually avoid spoilers because I want to experience the series first hand. However, I had to come to the reviews because I am losing it. Yes, the plot has been too repetitive. Li Lun causing a problem to his ex-best friend out of a "tantrum". I'd say it is a tantrum because he obviously regarded Yuan Zhou - keeping the baby rattle he gave him and getting on his way to kill him but don't really kill him. All these backs and forths were too exhausting - one possessing incident should have been enough. Not to mention that all the demon problems were on love (retch). I understand that he had to unlock things with every step but he could have hidden and revealed himself later on instead. So, it would appear as though they have a mission - slaying demons, establishing the bureau, and protecting the land - before figuring out these were all a part of Li Lun's grand scheme. Him popping out every after some time coughing up blood and crying about Yuan Zhou's betrayal is meeehhhhhh. Me every time: there he goes again. That is why I got annoyed at Li Lun. And I know that is not his fault too but the script's hahahah, but it is kinda hard to pull them apart.

So, the overall problem for me is the plot. Give us a direction.

Li Lun's Character tho, I had no doubt he was more than he appeared. Throughout the story, the lesson was always that whether you are a human, a god, a spirit, or a demon, you have a duality. You possess kindness, love, and loyalty but just as well as obsession, greed, or capabilities of betraying everyone close to you. So, I do agree with the things you said about Li Lun's heartbreak. I haven't gone to the part where he reveals everything just yet but when it comes to Yuan Zhou having other friends, that's pretty much an understandable part. That is because they never truly had a closure.

This was also a fault in Yuan Zhou's characterization. It wasn't dug enough - as is everyone's. You can't identify how he felt back then. Did he try to save him? How did he feel about his friend being locked aside from tearing up once about it? What did he truly want? How does he regard everyone around him?

About the relationships - That is a different angle to look at rather than just focusing on the plot. Yeah, but not as strong as the plot. I still need a good story haha. I was excited about Yuan Zhou and Wen Xiao's because at first, the snippets of them in the wilderness was filled with much potential. In my romantic take, Wen Xiao is the reason why ZYZ decided to go to the mortal world. He should experience life and love before dying. He loved her and he was curious about being with her but, as you mentioned this was undeveloped. Maybe because writing was a flop or just wasn't the focus of the story. In fact, it had not much of a focus lol. It would have been better if they gave ZYZ a compelling purpose to go to the mortal world than just to die. Then, we would be able to follow a story. (And back to the plot again hahahaha).

But yeah, on the relationships, definitely there was something to hold on to. Bromance, sismance, siblinghood, friendship, and comradeship - maintaining one is hard. You have to know each other's background, trust each other, and hold on to each other. And of course, that you can make unexpected friends with unexpected people. Very relatable in real life. Lol.

Now, the ending question is, should I finish it? I guess you would say yes, but I could use some more push. I know you're not obliged to, but as a literary comrade, what do you think? Hahaha

Hello again. You mentioned The Rise of Phoenixes in your replies in Kill Me Love Me. hahahaha. I had to go back here. I read your review before and loved it but couldn't formulate what to say yet so here I am.

I love this series. It's on top of my list as well. Nirvana in Fire after. Sharing my thoughts with you on everything especially on the phenomenal casting. This is when they prove that seasoned actors are seasoned for a reason. No one more fitting than them. They had no kiss scenes but they were able to show how well-matched they are. Cheng Kun and Ni Ni are ***hand heart.

The music is so subtle but it captures the whole essence of the story. And Zhe Wei's wardrobe was striking. I remember how it etched itself in my brain. Again, subtle and calm but a reminder of her character - calm but deadly.

I so love the script-writing - very intellectual. You can identify that the author or writers are well-researched. This is what a political drama is supposed to be. It was this time when I started falling for and listing down Chinese idioms. I still have them in my notes (after 2 years) haha. "He is the fisherman who gets the most profit out of a sandpiper and clam fight." "Are you going to let one stone destroy your entire go board?" These are common phrases but rarely used in scripts. When used here, it gave a long lasting impact. Also partly why I sometimes prefer reading novels than watching because then, they disappear.

Naturally, I empathize with you on the last 5 minutes. So, what I did was to find the novel and read the ending hahahha. Yup. That's my baby girl and her baddie getting a happy ending. A frown and an eyeroll to all unnecessarily tragic endings. May that trope forever end.

Overall, I hope we could be treated with works like this these days. 2024 has been a plateau. Are You the One is one the only cutting it for me this year yet. That is, if the story of the pearl girl flops too. But anyway, looking forward to Legend of the Female General and Shadow Love. I hope you are too haha. So, when they finish showing we can meet in the comment sections again. Manifesting 2025 will be slaying.
