I even internally wished YY wouldn't be evil because it's so common in many other historical dramas. But we could see this timid obedient young lady really loves her aunt and cousin. She also can stand up for her family when needed to. I can't get over how well-written each personality is.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS DIRECTOR AND SCRIPT-WRITER. I could type a long detailed review of this epic piece, BUT: How does every single "villain"/flawed character in this story have such a satisfying end to their arc AND in a timely manner too? Never dragged out. How did the scriptwriter manage to stray away from every typical historical drama trope...conflicting harems, noble sacrifices, letting go of 50 episodes of revenge for love, etc. Up until this episode, each character is so real and so flawed and so relatable. Consort Yue, Wendy, SS's grandmother's clingy controlling love for her sons. Maybe before we met her and before she proved herself to us again and again with her badassery in the story a traumatized part of me prays that she won't be bad or secretly evil like all the other consorts. She does not yield to her family's wrongdoing. I can even justify Wendy's moments of weakness because this man becomes king with the support of so many families. There was no established generational authority, he have to appease so many people. SS's mother's extreme tiger parenting style, there's no doubt she loves her daughter, just all in the wrong ways. The queen's motherly love for SS, especially in today's episode. I wonder if SS's intense reciprocal love for the queen allows her to feel like not a failed mother to her weak-minded son and overbearingly audacious daughter. I loved that LBY pursued his revenge and did not give it up for love. So many thoughts, but today after watching the scene where LBY saved NN from the fire and she said "QQ is right when you like someone the first person you think of when you opened your eyes is them." I immediately went back to episode 12 when she pulled out the arrow from his chest. He asked her if she got the string from someone special to her, to which she replied "Yes, QQ". It's so full circle to see how far they've come.
This is a light-hearted fluffy romance. If you are in love with someone, of-course there will always be better people out there but at the end of the day, it's your choice with the person you love. The same goes for JG. Sure, we can be upset that she was nonchalant about the way SJ felt for her, but her feelings for SH never wavered. SH and JS are each other's person. I wholeheartedly believe that SJ has a person destined for him. SJ's person. Despite JG's "annoying" moments here and there she grew a backbone. She learned to love her real face and after they got together (further into the relationship) she never had moments where she felt "undeserving" of SH or that he was not enough for him. None of the "noble-idiocy". This is high-school love. I think we get ahead of ourselves deciding/ wanting who our character should love. SJ experienced his first love w/ JG. He maturely accepts he can't have her. This is about JG and SH's love story. I'm happy the last episode hints at SH coming over often to JG's house and all their little moments. Like the infamous words of drama land, "the male lead belongs to the female, and the male lead belongs to us". SH and JG's love was theirs, nothing changed (even if some don't see the development or the dynamic isn't as good as SJ) and their mutual feelings stayed the same. SJ's moment shining like a star at the end belonged to him, and he belongs to our hearts.

I'm positive BL is not the Heavenly Emperor's son. Towards the end eps the emperor constantly refer to SF/XX as his son. Even I notoced the script was written to emphasize it. Like when he said "XX is my son of course I want to live" or when he said "XX my son you have "heaven's build" in you, are you sure you want to give that up and reincarnate 10 lifes..." but towards the end when BL stripped his power he told the HE that "if he can recultivate and by good karma and chance that he's able to be in the heaven realm again, he would want to learn and aid the heavenly emperor". For sure, BL have his own heaven's realm history, but he's definitely not the heavenly emperor's son.

Hi! I agree!!! I understand the angst of the fans seeing SF suffer, but Love is not get EVEN w suffering. Plus if XJ were to really suffer it would shatter SF's heart no less. He loves her unconditionally and everything he did was because he was willing to, not worth or not.
