Up to this point I can safely say that this drama will not live up to the original in my heart. They basically…
Yeah, the k-remake toned down the whole thing, so it's just like any average k-melodrama, with lots of squinting. I suppose yeah it's good for people who have no guts to sit through something controversial.
By mistake by reading some spoiler message i came to know that they are siblings , is this the biggest twist in…
Nah, don't bother watching the k-remake. It's longer, has more filler, zero chemistry, and a lot of squinty eyes. Better rewatch the J-drama if you wanna revisit the story.
The detective brother in the original was not as "obsessive", but was equally dogged in his own way. He just masked it with smiles and a casual manner so as not to give anything away because he knew he was dealing with a different kind of suspect. And yes, he really loved Yuko.
If you look up Akashiya Sanma, you can find his variety shows. He's a popular talk show host in Japan. And Fukatsu Eri, the lead actress, has a lot of films under her belt.

In Sora Kara, the detective was her adopted brother - she called him onii-chan (big brother) and he essentially regarded her as his little sister. She knew they were not related, but never mentioned it to him because she thought it would upset him and she felt sorry for him.
As for the remake, it's questionable whether they will get around the incest by making Jin-gook her real brother and MY unrelated to Jin-kang. MY is already saying a lot of stupid things to her, so I wouldn't be surprised if so.
The remake has been very unsubtle about a lot of things and is way too long, so it's tiring to even just skim. KMY talks a lot. You can't get him to shut up. He's like your agony uncle when talking to Jin-kang about her love problems. It's actually pretty silly at this point and whatever mystery or charisma Ryo had is all gone in KMY.

@crazy_drama_ghost: If you want maximum thrill, stay away from spoilers. If you're perfectly happy with spoilers, don't let me stop you. Also, please just watch the original Japanese drama.

@Blademan2: Do you mean the k-remake is making Jin-gook her real brother? Seriously now? Yuck. After misinterpreting Ryo and adding a bunch of lines that don't make sense... well, I guess I can see where they're going with this.
That said, although Park Sung-woong doesn't look "old enough", he, Seo In-guk and Jung So-min are actually roughly around the same ages as Akashiya Sanma, Kimura Takuya and Fukatsu Eri were in 2002 when they filmed Sora Kara. I guess Park Sung-woong just doesn't look "weather-beaten" enough, like he didn't have enough life experiences.
One of my favourite Japanese dramas ever! Ueno Juri and Tamaki Hiroshi had amazing chemistry and brought their characters to life. The music was superb and reflected the characters' growth at any given stage in their lives. Highly recommended regardless of whether you're a musical person.
Thanks for this article, I enjoyed reading it! The biggest plus for me, other than Sato Takeru being an excellent actor, is that he's a big-time cat lover! A man who loves cats is awesome. I loved his performances in Rurouni Kenshin, and he's so far never disappointed in whatever I've seen of him. Can't wait to see what new projects he has!

Hahaha, good one.
Also, J-dramas rock!
