Kdramas are very original and there are american remakes of kdramas like the good doctor and Jane the virgin itself was a remake of Juana la Virgin a Venezuelan telenovela from 2002 and what you're calling ridiculous Kdrama tropes only apply to cheesy romance dramas and NO ONE can deny that korean thrill, martial arts and investigation dramas are the BEST!! and many horror legends from American movies are from the asian culture

you should try watching the remake and see for yourself which version is better sometimes remakes are better than the originals Just saying

I heard Han Hyo Joo acting sucks especially in "W" and Son Ye Jin had a similar role in her movie the truth beneath and she did well.
Can you believe I considered Yoo Ji Tae a lot but when I thought of train to busan I changed my mind still Ji Tae is a great choice thumbs up for that.
At first I was gonna pick Lee Da Hae instead of Lee Min Jung but I heard she did a great job in her first serious role in Fates and Furies but I agree with what you said she was the one I thougt about chaging the most as for Sang Wook he fits perfectly in that role
Overall I think you should try and write your own remake article, you chose well.

I understand but US was a thiller pschycological movie not a political one Peele said "This movie’s about maybe the monster is you. It’s about us, looking at ourselves as individuals and as a group. The protagonist in the movie is the surrogate for the audience, so it felt like at the end of the day, I wasn’t doing my core theme any justice if I wasn’t revealing that we have been the bad guy in this movie. We’ve been following the villain. I say 'villain' lightly because I think there are many experiences of the film, and I think a lot of people go through a question of what is good and evil? Does that even exist?" so this about modern society issues they can change "hands across America" and this where the koean movie creativity comes

If it were remade I think they should keep the main idea and add the korean style to it and it will turn amazing
