FIRST : What a waste of Ming Hao - especially so close at the heels of a STELLAR performance in Love in the Clouds (weeping howling in grief for his wasted skills in this drama - which actually MAY HAVE BEEN SOOOOO GOOD)
No spark in the direction. (Therefore I concluded that the director is the main culprit that brought the drama down into the pits) .. which led to the following problems : ~ Actors are delivering subpar dialogue and acting. ~ So much hamminess is slipping through
~ No chemistry either.
SECOND WHAT A WASTE OF A SUPERB theme and exploration of GREEN TEA MAKING. Delightful and YET ...
THE LAZY scripting (promising plot led astray by half baked development of chanarcaters) ~ Support roles are all 1 dimensional.
~ Utmost unimaginative. Even with HIGH END budget (you can see in the expensive camerawork and lighting and costumes and sets) and decent plot. Badly executed inspite of all the resources at hand.
The worst was the meaningless OST. Forgettable and absolutely annoying and grating detracting and getting in the way.. As terrible and grating as traffic noise.
episode 30, and Kou Zhu is on my hitlist idc the hell is her problem
SO nice to see someone watching this finally ... I thought no one would come to this drama page since it's an old drama and the theme and plot is too complex for many to sit through - heartbreaking aside
honestly, why make him crown prince if the emperor loves his oldest son oh so dearly ... is it because xiao ding…
LOL
Keep watching .. it'll get clearer. It's 60 eps long followed by 12 more. It took me 2 run throughs to savour it better .. the TERRIBLE subbing on Youku makes it WORSE (howling in despair)
BUT WARNING : you will find pinning reasons for the actions difficult; it will be difficult to sort the people or their motives in B&W in this drama.
Where to watch?
It's OK
I have YAPPED occasionally too.
That's a HUGE write up on a lost cause ;-p
I havent read it fully .. just skimmed and I agree on many of them :
This was my short notes for myself on MDL : (bravely sharing) No offence to anyone who loved the drama :-p
JMPO (Just My Personal Opinion)

But I wish the drama matched that :-(
I hope you are enjoying.
it's SUCH a mature script and story with very realistic situations
Keep posting here ..
I'll keep checking.
I think I will go for a 3rd round in a couple of months.
Keep watching .. the drama didnt let me down even one teeny weeny bit.
It's one of the MOST COHERENTLY written characters and plots
Besides of course the brilliantly visualised scenes and acts ..
The camerawork and direction is phenomenal
Yes there were so many moments I wanted to squish him like a bug.
But a fabulously well written and acted character.
Keep watching .. it'll get clearer.

Phew!!
Off the charts.
Then settled into a slow burn that added such flavour to the entire season
But the chemistry was explosive and the direction camerawork was stellar.
The wrap up was terribly rushed (as though the team was told to pack up immediately and end it π±)
It was like the dish was removed before it was fully cooked.
I flick out my Google translate!!
Ufff
Plot Directionless.
Lifeless acting.
Plastic look of the show.
Dialogue? π€π€π€π€
