The director lost out on creating a truly edgy intro .. very 'meh' handling of the scenes .. should have put us on the edge of the seat .. but I was slouching wishing the story would move faster .. since the exposition was so 'seen that' done to death style .. (NO STYLE)
But curious to see how it plays out.
TOP TALENT in the drama ,, Am praying that they werent made to waste their time in the hands of a 'so-so' Production team with a 'meh' director.

ASIDE : Wallace Chung was SO natural and REAL in "Second Chance" ~ BRILLIANT SCRIPT and DRAMA and our FL Zhu Zhu slayed it in "The Tale of Rose" as a support character and as Main Lead in "Why is He Still Single" opposite and equally talented Wallace Huo.
JUST for the Cinematography .. the lighting, the angles, and mood creation of the frames and scenes .. By Ep 2 I give it a 9/10 .. Holding 1 back to see how it develops.
No cheesy sentimentalism .. cringey 'goody acts' till now .. It's as real as it can get.

At the risk of being gutted and hung in the street square lemme share my “ride” with this drama. I am sure there will be plenty of viewers who agree - and thus the current drop (?) in rating after it was completed.
It’s not a “slice of life” Period / historical Drama. Those who came to the drama with that expectation would not be able to suspend 'critical' analysis and end up being annoyed by the 'plot holes, character discrepancies' etc.
This Drama smoothly glides between dramatic treatment - you are gripped by the story - to rom com comedic treatment - to serious and tragic sequences which catch you by surprise and gasp with its intensity of emotions.
So it’s a highly stylized format, that has been beautifully shot, the camerawork and production is very high quality, and only if you go with those lenses on will you have fun.
At least for the first 25 eps or so … and then be prepared to switch off your brain completely for several eps since frustration will have taken root, and after that fight off the urge to cuss and drop it because drama will begin to strangle you and attempt to put you into coma. Zzzz kind of coma.

Have you watched the Chinese make of the Three Body Problem. So deep and riveting!!! I couldn’t believe what C Drama production house pulled off - it’s on Viki
It started with an interesting premise, and one was waiting for some kind of off the beaten track development of the story and the characters, but it just went into some sappy love story that in the end made absolutely no sense, nor stirred any emotion, the audience was left maddeningly on the lurch.
Recently had watched August Never Ends! Now that is ONE INTENSE DEEP experience- watched twice. Can go 3rd time.

After so many CDramas I too catch poor translation of some more common expressions which could otherwise convey a better nuance 😖
