thank you !!!I thought Gong and she were better suited .. and a more probable and interesting as a pair .. In…
I can see that POV ..
It's the script that failed to be convincing, with WHY she held back for SO long from asking her dad about that girl - OK let's say it was mainly triggered by the photograph she saw presumably during the timeline that she was seeing Bei .. shouldn't getting to know about ZHEN pushed away .. like sirens going off in her head .. YIKES this is a deeply entangled guy with a serious past that he's refusing to talk about.
How about that not making her cautious.
YEAH YEAH .. GONG CHEATED .. but he's not a playboy (at least he wasn't portrayed as one) .. she walked into the life of a highly imaginative and creative man who has been in a long term relationship with a woman who he does not 'match in mind' .. He "slips" when this 'femme fatale' PLAYS right into his life the role that she instinctively knows will topple him .. BUT here's the thing .. he fesses up .. is honest .. and you can see that he's MORE in love with the REAL Xiao Xi and he is fun playful teasing flirty .. which FULLY matches with Xi character ..
Do you think a woman who isn't instinctively able to 'flirt and play, be coy, witty, seductive, well read, free spirited' can pull off the roles she takes on to test the various men. So she is a misfit with Bei who is straight as a flag pole (LOL) .. She is her MOST playful REAL self without effort with Gong. A BEST FRIEND and SOULMATE IS THE prime criteria for a deep meaningful long term relationship that will SURVIVE crises and when the 2 year dopamine flush has receded ..
It's a bit of SOLID DELULU, to choose to marry someone for stability and loyalty who wont cheat .. and keep an opposite gender (sexy handsome attractive witty intelligent HIGH EQ one at that) person as BESTIE .. to satsfy your soulmate cravings ..
LOL
I can see THE FUTURE in that : GONG and she end up sleeping together once the marriage settles down and homey straight laced guy with nary a play or funny bone in him begins to look "BORING"
OH GOSH THANK YOU !!I am scrolling and scrolling to find a comrade in frustration.I would like to hear what were…
YUP the Gong and MFL getting togther would have made more sense for the way the drama was set up .. it was proceeding organically until 17 or so and then came the clippers and pruners and gave it a forced shape which had nothing to do with the original tree
I agree with a few of the things you comment on .. For eg.~ Gong, he was reduced to mere comic relief and a propeller…
Sorry my answer became so LONG!!
The Musician arc with his wife was the ONLY realistic one .. I liked that playout the MOST .. it had a satisfying end with each one moving on .. The sweet singer finally saw through this musician's lack of spine and indecisiveness and that she was the ONE doing the emotional HAULING and hard work in the relationship ,, that never bodes well and she saved herself a BAD relationship .. He DID NOT show up for her when she REALLY needed him.
The wife finally saw him for what he was to her .. a 'puppy' to tend to and come home to and be 'licked and loved unconditionally' and if that puppy wasnt serving that up .. she feels lost and displaced .. Being the Queen in his adoring eyes is ALL she looked for in the relationship .. NOT that she had to give anything in return to him OR understand HIS deep insecurities or yearnings .. She is pragmatic, non-artsy, deaf to music, and damaged from a bad parent upbringing ..
Them separating finally was well played and VERY REAL .. So you can say this was my most REAL thread .. I had MY probs some elements in this too ,, but could look past it

Until Ep 17 I was invested in ALL the couples ~ it had SUCH a REAL feel .. NOT one of those typical modern CDrama that are fun to watch but not necessarily worth time thinking about and admiring long after the show or even returning for seconds.
Even the stylizing was so Brechtian ( a dramatic device that makes the viewer get an objective distance periodically to assess what's happening with each character) with the animated intercutting with fairy tales etc ..
LOVED it all.
And then it all didnt make any sense for me.
I am glad that the Ming Ming Arc worked for you .. It collapsed for me completely in that final pastiche patch up .. It was the corniest cheapest interjection in a SERIOUS drama that was trying to stay REAL!!
I was like WHAT??
The point at which she figures out that it wont work and leaves ~ I sighed in relief seeing that she had finally grown emotionally : ~ gotten her ex out of her system (sort of) ~ then finally had an honest look at this long term pining guy for the role he served during her times of confusion, her difficult times .. a prop to lean on and something to keep her self afloat, rom plummeting into despair and total loss of self worth. Somewhere her survival instinct took him as a straw to cling to and force herself to imagine 'this guy could work out'
But she is tooooo talented and intelligent and a beautiful and capable ..
Her playboy ex was ACTUALLY her true match - she admired his talent his capabilities and the connect she felt with him and his reciprocation (which he didn't for all the other flings etc ).. Their LONG history .. and then the unfortunate separation ..
He was stuck in a 'weak marriage' and as emotionally confused .. BUT ironically LOYAL to her and deeply caring even as he felt a sense of DUTY and responsibility towards his wife - that marriage was clearly a mistake).
Now on top of that you have this 'simpleton' with stars in his eyes and SO much adoration like a puppy ~ the only thing going for him is a misguided sense of devotion .. He is ~ Emotionally unstable (the crazy anger he went into SO many times .. at work and with her) he is prime 'domestic abuse' material and that didnt signal red flag to her ~ Irresponsible .. resigned wihout a second thought about what and where next .. knowing full well she was jobless .. The fact that the writers whitewashed this important aspect especially for a woman like Ming Ming (who has a level head when it comes to profession and career) - goodness he actually gets her a ring and proposes .. LIKE HELLO!! Are you a teenager?? Or an adult?? ~ and then he lands up at the bus (if Ming Ming by then didn't get repelled by his childish clinginess, and teenage romance spewing, I could not buy that script - he's become a stalker literally .. Cummon Writer .. it was so convincing that she is done with him - yeah its a bit selfish and heartless .. and she will feel qualms BUT she was honest about it to him
SHE NEVER was attracted to him FROM the beginning .. remember how she avoided him physically (and he's SO SO ugh as a lover too .. cant wait to hump her now that she agreed to be with him .. so awful and clumsy .. he'd prolly come himself with no thought about his partner .. It was the opposite with her Ex (not difficult to imagine - hes not only goodlooking but 'great lover potential' which certainly must have had with Ming and YET .. the writers pulled a tacky ending where I can't EVEN recognize Ming Ming any more .. they dissolved a woman with a spine .. into a wimp who NEEDS a puppy to feel propped up.
After talking to people and seeing Avenue X's review I'm starting to believe that the ending is an ironic comment…
That was EXACTLY my POV: this Drama SHOULD NOT have ended on a 'happy together' tone AT ALL.
Each of those couplings were dysfunctional with a whole lot of BS self deluding reflections! Which is what should have been analysed and left at ..
Each should have grown from these relationships and moved on with their own lives .. after their hurts and breakups etc etc ..
This should have been a DEEP STORY "ABOUT LOVE" that is illusory, and "About Love" that makes you grow and understand who you are .. RATHER than looking to tie it all up as a "happy ending"
UGH!!! The script became SO SO premeditated to satisfy the need for HE .. So scared to go the other way.
I'll recommend 2 dramas that had the bollocks to to show a MATURE tale - closer to real life than this :
I have held on to this Trainwreck for a whooping 17 episodes because of only one character, Lao Gong. I came for…
OH GOSH THANK YOU !! I am scrolling and scrolling to find a comrade in frustration. I would like to hear what were your vexes ..
As for me I was SO frustrated that I left a barrage of comments today out of sheer frustration - I was getting so irked .. and the mercury kept rising as the eps began to move from 17 - 26
My ratings dropped from 10/10 for 1-17 gradually to to 2/10 by Ep 26
She is a castrating wife. She always talks to him so badly. It seems that at the beginning she was really admiring…
AGREE!! then having Musician so muddle headed and back to wife was crazy .. Indecisive character .. needs to adult .. It was the MOST realistic arc in the drama .. the rest ended up 'fairy tale HE"
By the end she became unbearable .. not because of her character BUT BECAUSE of the way the script washes and serves as a HIGHLY desirable female by who can be in a mature reationship .. or who would be trusted by ANY sane man were he to be subjected to all her 'bat - crazy' acts in life
It's the script that failed to be convincing, with WHY she held back for SO long from asking her dad about that girl - OK let's say it was mainly triggered by the photograph she saw presumably during the timeline that she was seeing Bei .. shouldn't getting to know about ZHEN pushed away .. like sirens going off in her head .. ~ What If
Except Gong .. I think he was truly in love with her .. the most self aware person

What a downhill journey to swampland

En point analysis!!
This split me up .. of all the bat-craziness that began from 17 onwards I like that you noticed the hair
Ha ha ha ha I cant stop laughing
All the characters became OCC and the plot went NUTS
