the best part of how IN CHARACTER the drama managed to make him .. Most other dramas at this juncture it just become 'implausible - cringey - completely unbelievable and OOC (out of character)'

I've DROPPED SO MANY TOP STAR dramas because it FAILED to convince me or take me along on that switched other face of Lead role

LOVE the way he has been rounded off .. He is 100% a scoundrel when it comes to keeping his own interest in place .. He is NO pushover .. but with Lan Xiang we see his other face .. he is genuinely in thrall of her ..

GOODNESS and this is the first time in 6 years of drama watching that I am rushing to MDL to join the wild fire of convos around a LIVE AIRING Drama ..

I've never before bumped into a roaring Drama HOT enough for me to rush out and fan myself and get some fresh air from all the exciting dizziness

(Most DRAMAS I went wild over were usually wrapped and ended and no one was left in the viewing room)

I thought I'd see the Rating hit 8.9 after that SOLID HOT HIT on a dimpled SMUG Cheek ..

As his mom said .. he's the only who was grinning from beginning to end and wants us t grin along with him : Rotten Boy ... deserves it .. LOL .. and we viewers go AYE AYE

I cant stop laughing .. absolutely smitten by the PROWESS of the director and writers and the Leads and Cast in general ..

Am 2/3 rd way into this EP and I had to come and comment :

This Drama is floating up to a 8.9 after this superbly crafted WEDDING Episode!!!!

TAN SONG YUN and LIU XUE YI ROCKING their TALENT like never before ..

The breaking of the plum blossom flower twigs by Lin Qi to take to his grandfather vs Lan Xiang collecting the fallen petals from the same tree carefully in a handkerchief and giving to Xiao Lan?

I think I lost in translation ..

I meant it in the sense that in no scene was she shown either 'resisting' or 'committing' .. she was neither shown as willing or as unwilling ..

She has always smiled sweetly when her parents talked about their dreams for her future : that she is happily married in her own home and raising a houseful of kids .. a free commoner married to a decent 'educated' man so that she can click with him 'intellectually' which they cannot ..

She hasn't yet been shown even being aware of 'romance' - life partner - marriage - her whole life was about staying alive .. making ends meet .. buying freedom from slavery ..

So in the good times she just wanted to live peacefully and trusted that her 'parents' will do good by her in whatever they plan for her.

She was not being DRAGGED into the marriage AGAINST her will ..

She was just doing what she thought was right by her adoptive parents (just like when her biological parents and family planned her marriage to Lin, she trusted their choice).

It will feel lacking if the 'usual path' that most dramas take to 'showcase' the lead's 'romance' goes off on a tangent .. as this does .. and IMO it should go completely off-track for the 'realism' we have been witnessing to stay strong ..

There was no plausible reason that the script should have 'forced' an interest out of Lan Xiang for the Young Master ..

It would be quite OOC (out of character) ;-p

The way the drama is growing Lan Xiang is SO captivating .. it's really tripping up on almost ALL the tropes that FLs are put through .. and I am ABSOLUTELY looking forward to where it's going ..
She is a WISE WISE one .. and capable of deep empathy and pity .. but never failing in keeping her dignity where possible .. and get her justice in her own way against mistreatment .. She is so 'weighted' in the amount of 'correcting' she doles out
