Title The Hymn of Death Spoiler
tbh can't take this seriously. the ml led the fl on not telling her but showing he's got a wife once she already fell for him and he invited her to his house just to break her heart. how is this not black comedy? And then he played a suffering artist while living double lives, lying to everyone and not taking responsibility either way but painting himself as a victim and woe is him.

but I am not even angry at him, I feel like there is some strong poetic irony in all of that, just not what the authors intended me to feel, as I just can't feel sad or empathize with the entire situation

Do you guys know if there is a specific term that refers to dramas that are set in this 20th century period like…
I just call them historical dramas, and if someone mistakenly thinks it's a period piece set in literal medieval I correct them

oh that's just people being lemmings. don't worry, most of these people who claim to have seen hundreds, and almost all those who claim to have seen thousands dramas/anime are just lying to give themselves some kind of authority in these communities.

sometimes it's so easy to check because if you count sheer hours it's more then there are in a year/week during given year or since they claim they started watching

it's the same phenomene as "I, libertine" readers. https://youtu.be/W7H5kFGEyUw watch this video for details

that reminds me. some time ago I had a discussion with a self proclaimed akira kurosawa watcher. he claimed to have seen 7 samurai, but couldn't provide a single thing he liked about the movie. eventually he resorted to the arguments like "it's a classic", "a movie great in 1950's is great now too" and "why would I lie about watching anything by akira kurosawa he's entry level".

entry level. heh. that tells a lot about these fake movie watchers mentality. a lot.

I'm baffled. How do people comment on dramas they haven't even seen, with such certainty as if they were some kind of experts?

do you mean 10-15 years ago (when there were such awesome historical dramas as three kingdoms or empress ki) or do you actually mean "very old, dated, poorly directed and cheap"?

Title Empress Ki
This is my opinion as someone who watched Empress Ki before Story of Yanxi Palace.... I was thoroughly impressed…
for chinese drama episodes I often have a feeling they have a long strip of film and cut it into even 45 pieces. while for korean dramas, I often have a feeling each episode was filmed separately.

if this drama was just Kim Kyungja killing whores with a shotgun while singing religious psalms it would have been much better.

sorry to burst your bubble but most actors are assholes. just look how famous celebrities are behaving, they are narcissistic and immature most of the time. but no one cares, because in this business millions of $ are in circulation.
this isn't some minimal wage job that you hire or fire people because of personal dislike, unless you're also an immature narcissist.

thus, I consider the entire "scandal" silly. even sillier then korean drug scandals, which too are ridiculous.

yeah they are just people with cptsd lol

but then, true psychopath is a caricature. it's not real. there isn't a human being who is not capable of feeling emotions or stress, that person would be dead due to not having a sympathetic nervous system.

there is also no ultra charming person who can manipulate anyone and everyone and warp people around their finger while laughing manically, unless it's the Devil and the genre is fantasy
