Para-special Relationship

If you're a fan of any male idol group, then tap into your delulu selves to get the full experience from this movie!!

First off, this was heavy on the fanservice, especially with the idealized portrayal of our beloved idol boys. The only thing lacking is giving more emphasis on each of the members's characters. In the movie, we only got to know about Kota and Kanato's personalities. If they were trying to sell this "idol all-star" boy group, then they should have given some spotlight to the other members as well. But I have to say, the You Are Special song was good. It flowed along with the movie.

About the movie itself, I thought the first half was fast-paced. Around 20min in and our main girl, who swore was never going to fall in love again, already admitted to herself that she's gone in too deep and has already drafted her 10-year roadmap to getting together with our main idol boy.

Also, it has a lot of the classic shoujo mune kyun moments, which could never be taken away given that this was made for the fangirls. This might not be for those who've grown out of their cheesy corny romance era. But if you still do enjoy these type of moments in shoujo movies, then you'll be glad.

I do like the last quarter of the movie though, especially with the mild angst that I kinda wished it didn't have a happy ending. Instead, I would've preferred it if Sahoko and Kota went on to live their separate lives while cheering for each other from a distance. Or maybe even have them reunite in the sequel series instead.

Speaking of the sequel series that is currently airing, I hope they focus more on some of the stuff lacking from the movie like: the other members, Emika & Kanato's relationship, and that thing about their rival band.

Overall a fun movie. May not the most extraordinary one out there but I would still recommend this to those who are interested in watching it. And I'm looking forward to the sequel series.

This is what happens when parents leave their children unattended

I was enjoying the movie because of how wholesome it was. Every one of the siblings had their individual charms, including the sister. Loved how they resolved Ito's conflict of having to push herself so she could be liked by her new younger step brothers. My favorite was how they helped Shu overcome his social anxiety. All was pure familial love.

That was until midway through the movie when they hit us with the step-sibling incest arc, which became the only thing that the rest of the movie was about.

Like seriously, I thought Japan was done with this type of creepy fictional work? It would've been cool if they introduced the viewers to a new character (like a classmate or a neighbor) who would eventually become Ito's romantic interest, and we get to see how each brother reacts during the entirety of their sister's love story and know more about each of their personalities (just like in the JDrama "Neechan no Koibito"). Or maybe they could've gone through the slice-of-life route and gave us more wholesome & minor everyday conflicts while also parodying cliche moments from past "step-sibling romance" media, wherein those moments never really lead to anything but only to tease the viewers (the same thing the CDrama "Take My Brother Away" did).

I loved all the characters. But the plot man..... Disappointed.

Anyway, I would only recommend watching until the part where Ito and 3/4 of the brothers go camping in her hometown. From there, it only goes downhill to the depths of hell.

A Must Watch 2025 JDrama

I'm so glad I finally got to watch this. Though it was with AI translated subs I found on reddit, I was still able to understand everything with my basic knowledge in Japanese.

Anyways, I think this drama is perfect. As someone who loves character-driven stories, I'm so glad I got to see Madoka, her fellow residents, and even her senpai doctors go through character development.

Here's what I think about some of note-worthy characters:

• Madoka - She wasn't the stand out character for me, but with how relateable her character is, I do love how we get to see the entire story through her perspective.
• Igarashi - Ryuche is one of my kami oshis, so I watched this drama for him. This might have a tad bit of bias, but he's my fav character. He's kind of like the male version of Madoka, with how he is easy to getting along with, is kind, thinks of others before himself, and can be animated at times. But he does it differently from Madoka. Like how he's such a gossip, which is how he gets along with the people around him. And also his growth as a doctor is a whole 180°. One of the fav parts about the drama is how, in the latter parts, Igarashi kept facing signs about getting into ER as his specialty. And I'm so glad he did. The ER part in Madoka's rotation was my fav part. Anyways, I absolutely adore Igarashi. He is such a good person.
• Moe - Most of our first impression about her is that she's just a pretty girl who wants to take it easy. But as the show went on, her character grows and changes. This is evident during her rotation with cosmetology. Deep down, she's actually a hard working woman who wants to do what she can in her own way to help others. She's such a darling.
• Chifuyu - I felt like her character as a doctor wasn't given much attention during this drama. We got to see more of her relationship with Hongo-sensei than her growth as a professional just starting out. We don't even see how she got to decide on Breast Surgery as her specialty. Like, yes we know the reason. But I wanted to see how it progressed to that.
• Kanno - This is where I take the opportunity to talk about the romance aspect of the drama. Because, as a character, Konno felt too one dimensional for me. He's just your typical ikemen competent co worker that our beloved female lead ends up with. While he had a bit of spotlight during the last parts, it didn't do much for me. At first, we see him as this kind mentor to Madoka during her first rotation in Surgery. I honestly thought he would be this type of character that our main lead interacts a lot with during the first few episodes and then gradually see less of when said main lead finally grows as a character. I thought he felt too "established" as a character that I think it wasn't necessary to put him under the spotlight as our main lead's romantic end game. And I kind of wish Madoka didn't break up with Sunoda. With how different they are, it would have been more interesting to watch them navigate their relationship as Madoka becomes busier with her residency. Anyway, this is not to say that I didn't like Kanno's character, but I just think he shouldn't have been given that much screen time in order for the other interesting storylines to develop.
• Nishiyama - I'm glad they resolved his Showa-era way of thinking right off the bat in the first episode. And that he ended up becoming in charge of training young residents.

As for the storyline, I think it was well paced and interesting. There weren't a lot of subplots which made everything easy to follow. Though some minor parts did feel kind of cheesy. But as a feel-good drama overall, it did enough to not come across as corny. And it's because we get to relate to all these characters, with how they act and how they came about to all these decisions given their circumstances, their life experiences, and even their upbringing.

To sum it all up, this is probably my favorite drama of 2025. I hope this will be on an international streaming platform soon because it's what this drama deserves.

Boys Love Over Flowers

I can love cliche plotlines. I can enjoy cheesy moments. But I can never handle terrible acting, especially from almost everyone in the cast. I'm sorry but there were no chemistry between our main leads. The lack of it made me cringe during their intimate scene.

Also, if you're going to use cliche plotlines and cheesy moments, at least make the minor (but relevant) details realistic. No way would a nicely shot photo of your lover's smartphone that is featured in an article. which your co-worker coincidentally had in her notification, let you know where your lover is at that moment.

In addition, the music is so bad? A lot of it sounds like cafe video game music. Good thing they toned this down during the latter half of the show.

Anyway, the only parts that made this bearable were the birthday date episode (which was cute), Iwahashi Genki in glasses, the "reveal" part, the flowers & gardening parts, and the fact that this show only has eight 25-min episodes.

All in all, not a must-watch, but I won't stop those who are interested in watching it.
