a bit stiff in general, but her acting for emotional scenes are quite good here. i am currently watching her other…
It's lighthearted and simple. I'm enjoying it so far. It's 24 eps and 18 is already out. It's a good balance cause I'm watching Luoyang and it's intense. I find Chen Xiao cuter in My Heart even though her facial expressions doesn't change much.
I think of FL as Xuan Ji from love and redemption. Very naive and innocent, except she has her senses. There are moments when she is so clueless it's annoying but unfortunately that's her trait. Like, she needs to be more firm when she says she doesn't want to be crown princess or stop following the crown prince when he ask her to. But at least it took her less than 20 eps to realize her feelings for ML. You can tell this is a lower budget Love and Redemption type story but I still enjoy watching it. It's a decent filler drama. The plot is simple so it gives me a break from the more intense ones like Luoyang and The King's Affection.
Am I the only one annoyed that she keeps stealing his magic without being honest why she’s doing it to him.…
I don't think she's aware that she's taking some of his powers whenever they "touch". She even tries to figure out how she gets those volts of power at those odd moments. But then again, I'm only at EP 4 so maybe later on she does find out? I do hope she remains honest.
Just watched episode 1 and the alarm bells are ringing. When will C dramas stop romanticising abusive men? Also…
I agree that somehow female leads end up for jerky male leads in most dramas. HOWEVER male lead in here just acts as a jerk as a cover but deep down, he is caring and kind. Not only is male lead cute, but he's strategic and just as a schemer as the bad guys. Female lead is smart and when she sees his true nature, that's when she fell for him. When he acted like a jerk to her, she didn't let him walk all over her. I like that female lead is strong and she declares that she is going to take care of him too. They're both great partners for each other.
After watching dramas with smart female leads that aren't annoying (Jun Jiu Ling, Imperial Coroner, Maiden Holmes, Fall In Love, etc) and then coming across new dramas female leads that are, it just leaves a bad taste and an instant dislike. We had smart female leads set the bar and high expectations and then new dramas come out with female leads that are subpar. ☹️
The old Judge Pao/Zhan Zhao characters brings back memories when I was watching the original series in the 80s/90s. I hope the story stays true to mystery and minimizes any forced love story between the two leads. Zhan Zhao has always been pure and focused on his duty so please keep him that way! I only watched EP 1 and the female lead is already annoying me. I like that she's smart and can add value to an investigation but why the whining and defiance??? I hope her character changes for the better. I'll give it a few more eps.
I was enjoying this drama up to EP 32. Now all the angst and serious plots is taking place and according to trailers, even the last ep 40 does not look good. I will be pissed if the ending is rushed and half-@$$ed. All that time building up our happy lead couple comes crashing down. 😡🤬
The two second leads are so annoyingly persistent. But I'm loving the lead couple. Lead couple needs to speak up for their significant other more. I'm on EP 18 and hopefully this is the beginning of it.
I just finished EP 14. I'm so glad are lead couple is smart and not swayed by rumors. So far, no misunderstanding between them two besides the minor one before they got married. The Princess,.although playful and doesn't come off as a typical dignified princess that we normally see, she is loyal, faithful, smart and strategic. Her character complements Li Qian. They are both cute together as a married couple and I hope the drama doesn't add unnecessary plots to break them apart.
Enjoying this drama so far! Loving the JJY and JZ chemistry! They're kinda cute together. At first I thought Zhang Zhe Han was a good match for Ju Jing Yi but now I think Joseph Zeng is better suited. JZ has a younger vibe to him so he matches with JJY. I'm not a big fan of her dresses though but everyone's else outfit and hair looks great. The storyline is engaging enough to keep me interested. Been looking forward to this drama and it hasn't disappointed me! I hope the story doesn't turn but looking forward to more episodes.
Normally I'm not a big fan of bratty female leads. Even though JJY character is a princess and she doesn't exude what a typical, royal princess is, I find her character forgivable. Her smarts makes up for her lack of "dignified" demeanor but if she's suppose to play the fun, playful, somewhat bratty princess, she's got it down. But I feel she can be mature when needed and playful when needed. She's mature and smart enough to come up with plans to get herself out of certain situations but she doesn't do it recklessly.
I watched episode 1 on the designated "eng sub" playlist. It was poorly written. When I watched the original ep with English subs from YouTube I think, the translation was better, not perfect, but still better than the episode that is designed "eng sub." If you're going to watch don't watch the episode that has "eng sub" in the title. Just watch the original episode and turn on your captions.
