to be fair, even the 1st ep on this sequel gives you the glimpse of s1 flashback. and personally, if you skip s1, you'll miss some of their key points and felt missing something important. i encourage you to watch s1 first, depends on your choice to understand the whole plotline

the details of each role are indescribably dignified. can't wait to see this sequel disclose the befall of the military in general, esp. corruption (and maybe, permanent shutdown of DP organization, too, like irl situation? who knows)
