Team Phoenix! The only reason people are saying Fish fairy is a more complex character is because the writers…
The hero the Phoenix could go to the Human world because his mom wouldn't kill him or harm him at all.
The Hero was just one dimensional who never did anything to right the wrong of his parents or ever question them doing wrong to others or even helping the people who were wronged. He just thought about Jinmi and nothing else and seemed too selfish really. Or more like turned a blind eye towards his parents wrong doings as they did not effect him at all, until it concerned Jinmi.
The Night Immortal had more depth to his character, his past, present all effected how he turned out making him and his own story more interesting then Phoenix really. To show how he turned evil and why more time was dedicated by the writers and directors on his character then the Main Couple, though I personally thought they gave the screen time to the Phoenix and Jinmi.
I am Team Run Yu too but this does not by any way mean that I ship him with Jinmi. Jinmi and the Phoenix deserved each other etc. I am Team Run Yu as loved his character more then the Phoenix.
Team Run Yu too. The reason I really really watched this show and loved it. I just want to say my being in Team Run Yu has nothing with him getting the girl, I just loved his character the most and would have been happy him being and finding happiness.
Leo Luo played this complex character so beautifully that we could empathize, sympathize and see where he was coming from and why he acted so even though we know he made the wrong choices but as a viewer could understand him and felt like hugging him so many times.
The first C drama where I really really didn't care about the Hero or Heroine at all really. They deserved each other etc and had a sad story but Run Yu and his story stole the show for me then them.
Yeah I'm also low-key bummed but to be honest we already get the almost chapter-by-chapter adaptation in the anime…
Chen Guo's character was the most drastically changed. Ye Xui character wasn't perfect in the Novel either, but yes the addition of human touch of clumsiness etc was nice.
Is the live-action worth it? I love the anime but when it comes to live-actions it's not always living up to the…
The drama is nothing like the Novel and Anime , so watch it as an independent piece of work, because so many things, characters and scenes are not included, characteristic and personality changes etc are most jarring.
As an independent drama its good. Great Sets, CGI, eye candy actors, etc. Yang Yang and Maggie Jiang are damn good in their respective characters. Loving them the most.
Watched till epi 20. Am disappointed that they butchered my favourite characters Chen Guo and Ye Xui too much but if this is looked from a drama thats not based on the Novel or Anime then its okay.
Maggie Jiang , Yang Yang are damn good and they share good chemistry too. The other actors are good too, the CGI is good and sets too.
Overall its enjoyable if we forget it being based on the Novel or Anime, but its hard not to compare and miss out and feel anger on things , characters, story, scenes, characteristics and personalities completely changing or missing, if you have read the novel or watched the Anime.
Have watched till epi 20 and its not bad but as a Novel reader and an Anime watcher who is waiting eagerly for season 2 was disappointed in the drama changing so many things and deviating so much from both. Sigh...was really really disappointed with them messing with my most favourite characters Chen Guo & Ye Xui the most. They are so much much better in the Novel.
Alas if we remove it being based on a novel, and take it as an independent piece of work, its pretty damn good so far. The sets, CGI and actors have done a good job so far.
... It was a novel first before it was even an anime... The anime left out parts of the novel so you could say…
I read the novel too and watched the Anime even knowing it was different but comparatively it was better than the Drama,( though they have dome great job with the CGI)where my second most favourite character Chen Guo was butchered completely. It has really put a damper on my watching experience and I am a watcher who never expects the drama to completely follow the novel but here they took so much away from her awesome character and personality.
The high rating this show got seems its more for YiBo starring in it then the show itself as this was not that great a drama, compared to some others like Go Go Squid etc which were well written, directed and acted.
YiBo was good along with Harry Luo, and Jerry Yan. Luo Tian and Pei Xi were my most favourite characters.
A nice watch but could have been so much better if it was well written and directed.
I have read the Novel and loved it. Have seen the Anime season 1 and loved it and waiting for season 2 and have this in my PTW list as was waiting for more epis to be subbbed before binge watching it. Just hoping it does the Novel and Anime justice.
Have binged watched this till epi 18 and waiting for subs. Am loving the drama, its well written, directed, the cinematography is awesome and so are the action scenes which are so well choreographed. The CGI is brilliant too.
The acting by each and every character is excellent but the one that truly catches ones eyes with his wonderful and awesome portrayal of his complex character is Lui Horan aka Asule. Have become his fan.
What does age gap have to do with good acting, story or direction. If everything clicks then it will be great. Jerry Yan is a great actor and Shen Yue is an upcoming actor who will be working with a veteran and a learning experience for her.
