Anyway, 2ha was not even a famous BL novel previously, it gains the popularity due to the drama and LYX. If 2ha was not adapted in the way that it can be adapted in China, it perhaps stays unpopular novel till today. and never made it into NYT bestseller.

HYX got license Q1 ’21, Planned to air April 21 but WOH aired first and exploded, it postponed air date to Summer Aug 21, but then Kris Wu exploded and BL ban was enforced till Jan ’23. Now, Imo Tencent in wait and see mode, it released heavily cut ALON safely (but this one not BL adaptation but Tencent mkt it as BL before), now Justice in the dark stops airing and Tencent should know the reason but we don’t. All rumor said Tencent wants to air WIK first bfr HYX. I think they still want to cash in HYX big time as this is the most anticipated BL among all others, the most expensive too. From the actors, teams are v v strong.

True, Sometime I don't understand, For Tencent the most important is profit and not quality drama, they are the best for marketing among all platform. But at the same time, Tencent also the world largest Gaming company, Owns We Chat, It's movie/drama productions spans to many of Hollywood movies we know too. In other words among platforms, Tencent has the financial ability to withstand the loss by choosing not to air HYX and other BL drama they have. Also they are arrogant too....because they can. Tencent Penguin Pictures for Tencent is not important, even their QQ music make more $ for them, but gaming is no 1.

40 eps (Tentative): Do you cut a lot...WDUM 40 eps tentative....????

One big point is Youku is positioning TTEOTM popularity to be on par or exceeding the big 2022 costumes, Including Blue Whisperer, Immortal Samsara, LBFAD, and Brilliant Star....
They however did not mentioned ADOS, which is the most profitable Costume drama in 2022

Anyway...that means Youku is confident TTEOTM is good.....
Youku also mentioned in their inv material, LYX Runyu is still very popular 4 yrs later as a confirmation Lyx character creation is indeed classic .....

I really really don't think it will come in April. Look JITD has not resume airing, with many pointing out it is Youku internal problems other said the rest of the eps are taken back for re-cut cause it is causing too much hot search and attentions from reg people.
I really think Tencent will air WIK first cause HYX is their trump card. With 2ha novel being new york times bestseller, the more book out the more expensive tencent can sell this to Netflix, A Prime etc....So seems like they are not in the hurry....

So from what I heard recently is Tencent is sure HYX is big blockbuster that can generate tons of $ for them even if air 5 yrs later.....so they are unwilling to release it overseas for less $....

Basically they have to tone down all the ML interaction to the point acceptable for the censorship bureau. The biggest hurdle in the adaptation is not the ML interactions cause the story itself is really big and complex, easy to make it into fast plot drama. But how to pass the censorship when "rebirth" is not allowed. I say the script writer is excellent is evading this. All I can say, all the big points in the novel is being filmed, but whether it passed review, we don't know.

U worry too much, the big reason of MR obsession wt SM will be revealed quite early in drama, like eps 8 or do, in the novel it is towards the end. The other role change is the Ghost King changed to Ghost Queen, since this Ghost King/Queen wants to wed CWN hahaha….there u go that’s why it was changed to Queen and not King otherwise not passing Censorship…

SM a woman is the only way HYX can get adapted in China. But no ML in China ends up with Villain (it won’t pass review) so that’s your assurance that MR is not in love in SM. The reason for his obsession wt SM is revealed much later in the book, but earlier in drama. HYX passed censorship in Q1 2021, EF has not. Obviously, all BL element in HYX , EF or any BL adaptation in China has become "light bromance"
HYX itself without the BL elements is an amazing Xianxia story, it's complexities are compare-able to Lord of the ring or GOT.....U'll understand when u finish reading all the book. But if you r reading the official translation novel, there should be ttl 7-8 books. So book 1 is really too early in the game. But when u finish them all, u know why this is the most commented un air drama in MDL.

HYX should air this year....My prediction will be between Mid May to September, or Nov-Dec. EF...need to wait for license, it is the last one that completed the filming.
