What a waste of potential

You cannot tell me that a professional production company was not able to find a small piece of private beach somewhere to get the scenes filmed. Even in Pattaya or Phuket there are places you can film without having white old Russian tourists in speedos walk through the frame or gawk at them.
(On the other hand… with two God-like pale Asian males making out on a beach chair in the middle of day, they might have thought they’re shooting porn for all that they saw!)
And if so, then go have the set up at 5 am when noone can disturb or arrange a barricade of some sort. In one scene you can literally see one staff still with a script in her hand, run towards some tourists who were just minding their business walking along the beach, and frantically wave them into a different direction.
Such a waste of YunQi and HaoYirans talent, time and effort! They deserved so much more than a last minute sloppy homevideo production.
(If you tell me that this was not an actual Special Episode, but rather a video focusing on the sunscreen sponsor, I‘ll just sigh and take this back 😔)

A Comedy BL done right

This was a really good, simple, stupid show that made me laugh so much! I honestly enjoyed it.

All characters were on point. I just wished I had watched this before seeing Podd in newer shows first where I learned to dislike him. This kind of role here fits him best in my opinion! He should have just kept going with that style.

Khaotung was just super cute.
The Dad was hilarious.
All girls were extremely pretty and funny, without being annoying.
Guy, Toptap, Mike were all their usual funny characters, an absolute comfort zone for me.
Even Neo, who was just 19 during the show, did a great job.

A refreshing lighthearted and funny BL in my opinion!

The Embodiment of BL

I started watching this drama knowing that it’s a 2023 Chinese BL. However, because I’m fully aware that Chinese dramas usually present it in a very, very heavy bromance way, I didn’t invest myself too much in expecting actual BL. I genuinely thought we were just going to get an intense, heavy friendship dynamic.

And since the whole story was centered around family, brothers, and that entire theme, I didn’t even notice until the very end of the series (maybe around episode 19 or 20) that the two boys were actually in a sexual relationship. Even though, if you rewatch it, you’ll probably catch little hints here and there throughout the series.

But that’s not even the main point.

The real point is that this series is the purest form of what BL actually is — Boys Love — which is simply two boys being madly in love with each other. And that is something we should absolutely treasure. This show proves that you don’t need crazy NC scenes, wild kissing scenes, or anything over-the-top to make it real. BL, in its most sensitive, pure, and almost sacred form, can be captured exactly the way this series presented it.
