q&a with zhang yu on the movie if anyone is interested: https://youtu.be/O9Q91x4EQjg?si=mbNGQwzhJlhnLnu2
thanks for sharing! i heard that zhang yu doesn't give interviews often, but listening to him talk about the director and the movie was really interesting. He comes across as very thoughtful, you can tell he puts a lot of care into his performance
Great, thanks for the info. I'd recommend the subs at this link over the ones on youtube. The fan translator translated all the on-screen text (signs, handwritten letters) but they are missing in the yt version.
Lol Man's Inhumanity to Man is definitely not a remake of that movie. I don't think you need to watch the movie…
The HK movie came out in 1988, but the truth about Unit 731 had already started surfacing years before. For example, Morimura's book «Devil's Gluttony» came out in 1982, and it's a major source for both the drama and the film, which is why you see similar scenes in both. I'm not saying the movie is bad, it's just very different in tone, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
i have just the discovered the hng-kong 1988 film "MAN BEHIND THE SUN".looks like Mans inhumanity is a…
Lol Man's Inhumanity to Man is definitely not a remake of that movie. I don't think you need to watch the movie if you liked the drama because their approaches are VERY different, and I really appreciate how much the drama lets you fill in the blanks, because the movie just throws graphic imagery at you without much restraint. The drama makes this topic more accessible to a wider audience and raises awareness about 731's crimes without traumatizing the hell out of you.
I did not watch yet, it is on my plan to watch list, just as other films and dramas about the Sino-Japanese wars.…
I would recommend Man's Inhumanity to Man, it's not an older drama, in fact it aired just a few months ago, but it's excellent all around in terms of writing, cinematography, acting. For me, it's not a typical sino-japanese war drama. At its core, it has a very anti-war, anti-militarism message. It also became the highest rated drama of 2025 on douban.

I've been watching this for the past week on Youku's official Youtube channel up to eps 9 last night, yet when…
Hey, looks like youku has blocked access to the videos on youtube. I'm currently working on a solution, please give me some time. I'll post a link to the mega folder tomorrow.
I thought there was no voice dubbing for this drama, but the cast shows voice actors?
Just checked douban and baidu but they're not listed there. Asaik all the actors used their own voices and some even had to learn Japanese for their roles (like Arakawa, Narita, Kojima etc.)
hey, what other dramas did the same "team" work on?
I would also recommend Record of Strange Things (异物志). It's an urban with supernatural elements and clever twists: https://kisskh.at/54769-the-record-of-strange-things Personally it's my favorite drama by this team, but I haven't watched Moral Peanuts yet.
You can download the final episodes or watch them directly on this site. I wanted to share this because Youku has recently started replacing the fan subtitles with their own official translation. I’m not sure why Youku didn’t hire a translator from the beginning, and why this drama had to rely on fan efforts only for those subtitles to be removed in the end.
While it’s always good to have multiple options, I personally prefer the fan version, especially because of the extra notes and language tags. If you’re interested in the historical details, I’d recommend going with the fan translation. Hope you enjoy the finale!
p.s. The fan translator is active on Reddit if you want to thank them for their work
Subtitles on captionfy will be back soon. Youku set some videos on youtube to private, that's why they don't show…
The links on captionfy have been fixed. Unfortunately, Youku put episodes 17-20 behind a paywall so there's no way to update subs beyond episode 16. The fansubber sent all the subs to Youku so they should be added to the official site soon. Hope you enjoy the finale!
