Subtitles on captionfy will be back soon. Youku set some videos on youtube to private, that's why they don't show…
The links on captionfy have been fixed. Unfortunately, Youku put episodes 17-20 behind a paywall so there's no way to update subs beyond episode 16. The fansubber sent all the subs to Youku so they should be added to the official site soon. Hope you enjoy the finale!

Yes, this fan translation is really excellent! They even tag which languages are spoken and add helpful translation notes. Also, make sure to watch the ending credits, the audio recordings at the end change every episode. I heard this fansubber actually sent their subtitles to Youku, so hopefully the official site will use this better version.
Just wanted to share the playlist with the OST for this drama. The crew released it a few days ago. You can find all the music tracks in the folder below:
YOUKU has now added English subtitles on YouTube -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TsXgtmJ4Ps&lc=Ugx9C6sOW624fVTRUNZ4AaABAg.AQinSDRDAb4AQkPl0cFC-y.They're…
I think a drama about this topic warrants a good translation. You said it yourself, people outside China should know about these war crimes.
I think it won't take months but more like a few weeks for the fan translation to finish. If you're used to binging, of course I understand why you would opt for machine translation.

It's a shame that youku didn't hire human translators for this drama. Corporate greed, I guess. Anyway, I refuse to read AI slop when there is a very high quality fan translation.
Omg thank you so much! I wanted to watch this but my Chinese is not as good yet so I had to wait for subs, thankfully…
I just checked them and it's pretty bad AI translation. I definitely prefer the fan translation, it's more detailed and carefully done. This person include additional notes and tag what language characters are speaking.

There are still no official subs. These two episodes were fansubbed by someone on Reddit. They’ll update when they have time, so expect delays compared to the release schedule
Haha this is my motivation for studying too. I would say this drama doesn't have very difficult vocab, so it can…
Oh I didn't know Baidu has episode recaps, thank you, it's very helpful! Your method requires some dedication haha, I can't imagine watching the whole drama like this.

I like the spy dramas too, thank you for the rec! It looks very interesting, and yes it's frustrating that many good dramas aren't subbed.
I watched another drama with the same ML as in the Kite, it's called 暗算 (Plot Against). Liu Yunlong who plays the ML is also the director. This drama is divided into three parts that can be watched separately, I only watched the first story (around first 10 episodes). It tells the story of a blind villager who helped gather intelligence during the civil war. I became a huge fan of Wang Baoqiang after watching this haha. Hope you like it!
On the one hand, I simply can't stand lousy subtitling like this drama's. On the other hand, China's poor English…
Haha this is my motivation for studying too. I would say this drama doesn't have very difficult vocab, so it can be easily understood by someone with HSK 4 and above. I occasionally do some lookups, but it does't stop me from enjoying the story. Are there any other dramas you watched without subs that you can recommend?
