When the insurance guy is repetitively asking the FL what she gained from the death of all these people I am screaming at him "Trauma!" Gosh that man has no emotional intelligence.
I would love a season 2, the new character she plays seems fun! Season 1 ending was good, everybody had an ending, my favorite was the hair salon one haha.
I am halfway through this kdrama and it is the type to get you hooked until 4am. I watched the American version when it came out and just stumbled recently on the Korean version. I gave it a go because of the good ratings and it is really an other story told here. More political and less dark drama. It feels more human and real. There are some nice punchlines that stays with you and some jokes but most of the drama is tense.
I just watched it. My comment still stands for the early episodes. Obviously during the k-drama Mr Kim evolves because what he experiences goes away from the predicted road ( which is: having every promotions without skipping one) and it is a huge shock to him. He said himself during ep7 that when he was in headquarter he was working with numbers. He was a white collar surrounded by white collars at the beginning. Slowly his world changed (friends, family, colleagues) until ep7 which is a turning point. But to get there he had to get real talks and even fights with people and be repetitively shocked by life (put out of his confort-zone). Currently Mr Kim is a white collar confronted to the reality of blue-collar workers and maybe by his final act of ep 7 he is finally taking responsability and not just going with the flow as Baek Jeong Tae accused him in the restaurant during their fight.
Ep 2: I was with Mr Kim when he asked his son what is CDO and what is exactly this job. But directly after that I was with his son when he asked his father to make amends to the restaurant staff. They both have a long way to go.
Why does Mr Kim remind me so much of my dad... Failing at corporate jobs after so much time there. Difficulty of having empathy. Thinking highly of himself and failing to connect as a father and a husband. Once he was promoted to a personal office with superb view + a secretary and less than a month later he was fired. Maybe it's a white-collar boomer thing.
EP:3 Are all the men in mansion idiots, "If Yurisa wanted to eliminate ji min then she could do so by herself…
Not to defend her but the test of Mensa doesn't test the social skills - probably for a reason (I know you didn't imply that Mensa does test it) . In fact, many Mensa members tend to have deficiencies in that sector. People who are well-integrated socially typically don't feel the need to join organizations like this or take these types of tests, they are too busy living their lives. It generally originate from a need to belong somewhere or to understand itself because society made the person look abnormal. And you have to pay to take Mensa's test, or for the WAIS that can also make you integrate the organization.
I think I could have loved this one but I already read "Money Game" and started "Pie Game" when the show came out so it wasn't really interesting for me and I dropped it in the middle of ep 1. I could definitively understand why some people don't like this story, the main character is not showing the best side of humanity. In the webtoon you really are trapped in the vision of the main character slowly becoming crazier because of the setting and his mindset from the start (I mean you have to really do some bad/unlucky decisions in life to decide that participating in this game is a good idea). So the webtoon is quite dark and heavy, the show seems to be more colorful (on the surface).
We don’t know and we won’t know. I hate HG the player. But it’s of course not entirely his fault because…
You can have high IQ and have emotional intelligence too. Men are just not encouraged to develop it I guess. HG (the player) knew how to manipulate people so he has emotional intelligence. He choose this playing style and said several times that he will do what is needed to win. But when people tried to reciprocate his playing style he wasn't happy about that and used Sohee's emotions. That man knew what he was doing. Sohee was more intelligent in my eyes (she solved several situations like the map hunting, helped to unlock the special room) and still had empathy.
In ep 2 after the meeting in the restaurant with the family when the photographer writes on the glass to the sister who can't hear him to say he likes her. Soooo cute. I want the same IRL T-T
I am currently on ep 2. I found ep 1 quite good and directly started ep 2. Being 4 sisters and parents, there is enough drama to not feel bored. I think it is an emotional mature scenario (not all is black or white) and it is my first Koreeda. My only fear is the spin it could take on unfaithful relationships, but I don't know yet how it will be treated in the story. I would say go for it if you are into those sorts of things.
