thx for chatting :3 i didn't expect day to be the one to help mhok through his trauma that was like... not their dynamic at all i was more annoyed at how the show just totally dropped it. as much as i am that he didn't go back to hawaii really. in the end mhok is still living for day and i think that makes their relationship really unbalanced.

think i was annoyed at the break up being so bad on days part and was expecting ep 12 to fix that.. and then it didn't so it kept rubbing me the wrong way until the eye donation scene that - when they cliff-hangered that in ep 10 i was like oh god no please don't let that be the ending and then felt relieved when it wasn't.. and then it was. lol like they didn't fix something and then broke something that they kinda mended before ? it's almost 1am i'm sleepy but ty for chatting w me :3 ik we had dif mindsets going into this ep which is why we saw it differently. have a good night ,, or morning,, or afternoon wherever u are xx

i really cannot connect to your view of this. imagine opening up to your partner for the first time about the fear you feel in leaving them alone because of past trauma related to not being able to be there for your sister when she died while you were in jail, and then immediately being broken up with and made to cry alone against a brick wall while they get to be comforted by their mum and brother. of course he never mentioned it again. mhok agreeing with day in attributing his actions to pity is totally erasing the trauma they mention in ep 11. i was wrong to assume that ep 12 would address any of that because they don't seem interested in mhok's story at all.

mhok immediately swooping in to escort day to his taxi and mhok groping day when they were getting their suits read to me as out of character. i get that its been so long and he still has feelings for him but mhok had always been so respectful of day's boundaries,, its why the breakup was so clean - he immediately stepped back. thats when i felt disconnected from this episode, it just felt like thats what the plot needed for them to get back together, it didn't feel like what mhok would do organically

also day doesn't want for mhok to be his caretaker, he wants to be independent which is why he took so much offense in mhok not thinking day could be left alone. day had been without mhok for years they did not need to pick up where they had left off before the break up. time did not heal all, day was still conflicted in getting back with mhok even after all this time. the last push that made him go back was the ham-fisted messaging of second chances at the wedding

i totally understand why day would be frustrated with losing a lot of his independence and being treated like he can't do things for himself - and why mhok lying about not getting the job opportunity would trigger that frustration, especially after those feelings got reignited after the failure of the first eye donation. most of my annoyance with how this show handled it was them agreeing with mhok that it was pity??? it was not pity !! mhok never showed any behaviour that would imply that he felt pity for him ??! them entirely blaming mhok for 'feeling pity' for day being the reason why they broke up and not addressing any of days made me annoyed that they were treating him like this perfect angel or something. i guess im also annoyed how easy it was for them to fall back into flirting/being together/mhok acting as if he was still his caretaker after three years (!!!) of no contact,, like not only did they not mend the reason why they broke up,, they basically act like it didn't happen

yeah thats part of my problem i think, i'm not as on day's side as this show wants me to be

not romanticising blindness, i have way more issues with the entire episode twelve not just part four and the eye donation. it was a frustrating way of forcing a magical happy ending where they 'fixed' everything. saw someone say it best tbh, this show was by able-bodied people for able-bodied people. yes day wanted to see again but his whole character arc was coming to terms with the possibility of never being able to see again.

i'm so glad you were fulfilled by a eye donation ending but i was entirely unsatisfied; when mhok's trauma about rung went unaddressed, day's complex about people pitying him went unaddressed, day/night and their relationship with their mum was neatly shoved under the rug, mhok choosing not to go back to his chef job in hawaii and them not addressing how either of them feel about that (even though it was the tipping point for why they broke up in the first place?? --- i guess hes fine with it because he can't attribute it to pity anymore??? ), the imbalance in their caretaker relationship where day's issues seem to take top priority over mhok's issues every time.

the eye donation was like the cherry on top of all the bad writing decisions of this episode, showing them on the mountains was like a kick in the teeth, because that scene in ep nine was the most beautiful moment of the show. i care so much because this show was sooo good for ten episodes, i'm pretending it ended then.

i think you're being a bit uncharitable to people that had a problem with this ending. people aren't calling it ableist just because he was able to get the eye donation, they're calling it ableist because day's whole character development during the show was coming to terms with his blindness and learning how to accept it and continue to enjoy life... which he did at the end ! they show him absolutely thriving while still being blind, opening his own bookstore, completely fine in the three years that mhok wasn't there. day regaining his eye sight back adds NOTHING to this arc and instead feels wrapped up in the romantic development? part four was completely about day being able to physically see mhok again and reliving the mountain experience not being blind. the question is why did the show feel the need to complete their romance with day being able to see mhok? does that make you happier? does that make you more fulfilled? why can't a blind person have a complete romantic storyline without seeing their partner? day is not a person, he is a character and wrapping day getting his eye sight back with the happy couple montage as the ending of their story makes me feel icky tbh. its cheap. they already did the fake out that the eye donation didn't work and having to regain that loss of hope. what does it add that it works the second time

i feel like they weren’t trying to go for a ‘look how hard it is to pretend to be each other’ type twin switch story (like not me) because sprite wasn’t really trying to be zee at all. honestly i have no idea how sprite going crazy on those guys was part of his character i think i thought that behaviour was the outlier rather than how cutesy and puppy-like he acted throughout the rest of the show. sprite’s character is harder to pin down exactly who he is (because the show fucked up his arc) but idk if him being defiant really explains how he went nuts on them in ep 1 lmao. i’m choosing to ignore it ever happened tbh xx i get the feeling they just needed those guys to be angry enough to ‘hire’ someone to accidentally beat up zee to get the story started

but yeah sprite and zee were hard to tell apart sometimes, especially when zee came back and started wearing the basketball uniform again. thank god for the difference in hair styles.

this is why i come to the comment sections i love how we both liked different aspects of this show. i was drawn in by sprite in the first half (hes cute n silly ): ), and then first's bashful demeanor when they were together <33 so part of what kept me hooked when they were drawing out the confession was waiting to see first happy again TT gahd idk if u can tell im so attached to them

fuck the mum but neither did day ?!? breaking up with mhok after he pours his heart out his trauma about his sister's death, making it about himself was so cruel. is mhok just not allowed to be emotionally vulnerable to day ??

it was def odd? can't even blame it on the writers wanting to make everything a happy ending because what even was the ending with first's sister's friends and the fwb couple?? both could've been cut completely why would they just end their stories like that.

i guess i am glad that they went back to a bunch of their plot lines to try and finish them because i'm so used to thai bl just completely forgetting about them

don't wanna be to negative about it though because i genuinely enjoyed it so much and would recommend it to anyone on the fence about watching. didn't have to x2 speed anything except for the side couple

i'm pretending at least half of ep 11 and 12 didn't happen,, i love the main couple so much im making my own ending for their characters in my head lmao. (cutting out that whole bit with sprite promising first the medal, not being able to give it to him for some contrived reason, and then expecting first to just accept it and brush past it like it meant nothing... isn't that the exact type of thing zee was mad at sprite about??)

i binged this series in the past three days so i have no idea what you guys were talking about week-by-week and that may also be the reason why i have less issues with the pacing of this show

i wish this series was more popular so i could read a fanfic that fixed their character arcs because otherwise this series was perfect to me <3

in their defense last episode was crazy, using never have i ever and 7 minutes in heaven as a way to investigate his twin bro leaving is a hilarious concept i wasn't really expecting them to match that insanity for other episodes. i'm still having fun :3

oh cheewin loves sound effects,, the teenazouey scene i was talking about where zouey pinches his nips was very reminiscent of secret crush on you to me. i just thought this series wanted to take sexual moments more seriously than other bls so it doesn't really work TT
