How did it end? (Can’t find the full movie even raw online)
It ended with Kyogoku actually having a problem with his body where he has to be frozen for some time, so he doesn't even make it to his daughter's wedding and a holographic version of him congratulates them. He then wakes up 30 years later, to flying cars and such, and looks forward to face the new world ahead of him.
Oh this is also after Kyogoku literally went on a suicide mission to save everyone which had Ryota crying actual buckets. Really emotional.
There are NINE different post-credit gag endings, apparently each theater played a different one. I can't cover them all right now but they vary from Kyogoku finding out that Ryota and Yui had sextuplets, all that look like Ryota (this being my favorite lmaoooo, they're all a riot), to the new detective's office 30 years later and Suzuki barely reacts to hot tea being poured on him anymore, to Kyogoku running into what he assumed was Kanoko's house only to find out it's someone else's now, etc etc.
I enjoyed the movie though it was heavy. A bit about the ending in the comment below (hidden with a spoiler warning)
I thought the movie failed towards the end - I get his feelings that he wanted to tell his mom that he still loved her no matter what, but I kind of wish he distanced himself from his mom after that. It's not your responsibility to change people, but to just get what you need off your chest and then give distance needed to keep sane.
Otherwise, good movie. Surprisingly well done considering the subject matter, especially for Japan.
If you like him, you have GOT to see him in The Last Cop. He is hilarious and so much fun!
I saw him first in High&Low but really learned to love him as an actor from The Last Cop. He was also AMAZING in the Tokyo Ghoul movie. He's been excellent in Radiation House so far!!
