Just finished this and my god, what a horrible script - it is very clear that whoever wrote this doesn’t not think very well of women. Almost all of them were pretty horrible in some way. The FL character was so toxic - especially in the first half. I get that they were trying to go for badass - but she just came off as mean-spirited, petty and arrogant. Never apologizes, makes the ML chase her around apologize all the time (which he does and it was annoying - especially when he was not at fault at all) Childhood sweetheart/neighbor girl was just annoying - whined, pouted and threw tantrums all over the place BFF.colleague of FL was super-judgmental, had serious trust issues (which weren’t really explained) Her mom was a bit cray-cray and the usual Asian mom who is obsessed with marrying off her daughter and try to match her someone she doesnt like. Just, all around bad story - save your time and go watch something else.
Finished this up a couple of days ago and it was just ok for me. Certainly though Leo Wu did a great job with the intense stares - but I just couldn't get with the FL character. She was just too young for me and I definitely felt a maturity gap between the two of them - which makes sense given their life experiences when they meet. But the character growth for her just takes waaayyy too long and the relationship just sits in a weird place - like, they have been dating for over two years an she is still very furtive and shy with him as if they just met and its just weird. I am also realizing as I reading the novel - that so much of this is because the damn censors, writers and directors - took what is essentially a pretty erotic novel and ran with it through the super-conservative censor filter and its just doesn't come out the same way. Everything about the novel is much more gritty - from being in NYC, to the ML being much scruffier, to a FL who isn't so timid. But hey, this is just my take and not everything is for everyone.
Just finished this and can I jsut say - what cray-cray person wrote this? Could have been a fun rom-com - but jsut a horrible script - right from the get-go. Let’s start with the opening set - a FL who ‘falls’ for her boss at first site (can we PLEASE stop with trope). Secretly and creepily takes photos of him (even has a stalker wall). Gets roped into helping him woo her best friend (which she does, knowing her friend doesnt like him and it’s all a set up for her to spend time with him). He eventually breaks up with said friend and then she proceeds to try to get his attention. She finally decides she is going to ‘confess’ and does so in THE most awkward way. -shows up at WORK no less, in a fancy dress, confesses, he rejects, she sexually assaults him. Now -for some reason the writers decided to then spend 20+ episodes making us try and believe he is the bad guy and she is the victim and she was in-love with him (as opposed to just having a crush and being a bit obsesses (refer back to the stalker wall) - so its all on him. Yeah, no. He then realizes he does actually like her and spend myriads of time apologizing and telling her how much he likes her and she is just petty and mean - seriously, this went on FOREVER and he should have just walked away - but, no - its a rom-com, so lets drag it out. The whole thing is just awful and tries to romanticize having a crush, being obsessed with someone, stalker behavior and toxic behavior. If this was a male character doing this, we would all be even more outraged. Why they think having a female character do this is ok is beyond me. Then we get to the last 5 episodes or so - where we start filming her movie and then we move into Dingding and Director Lu time - sooooo much screen time given to Dingding which I so could have done without. But by this time - we have kind of runout the clock on the main leads and we need filler. But Dingding is such an annoying, childish, whiney character - I just didn’t even want to spend any time here - which was hard because Director Lu is HOT! Did appreciate that there was no awful parents (both sets were quite enjoyable) and no annoying friends giving terrible advice Lastly - lets talk to whoever the stylist was on this show - cause they got go. The absolutely horrible cut-off jean shorts everyone, the combat boots on the girls (listen - they were both way too skinny to be pulling off these looks). The awful hair for almost everyone (her bun and director Lu’s man bun - which made NO SENSE as his hair was not long enoug, so it served NO purpose) - just all really bad. And the typical - let’s dress the FL in super-frumpy clothes all the time. Basically - unless you are REALLY craving some Miles time and Lu Zhi Xing - just move right along.
I am only 10 eps on, so far it’s the latter (mostly cause fl is very young/immature). We’ll see if she matures…
yeah, she’s ok - but she is definitely that 21yr old, naive girl who hasn’t really grown up yet. I am only half-way through now and she hasn’t progressed that much so far

The very definition of maturity is “the state of being a fully developed or adult” and there are many stages of maturity - while she may be physically mature - she is certainly not emotionally mature and she is kind of in the middle on mental maturity (Mostly because of her billiards training does she has some good mental maturity)- I would argue, that this where most people are not at this age. Yes, we can handle things maturely in instances - but that does not make one mature. And, yes, you can absolutely disagree with me - dont need to get pissy about it. I have defined what I think it is and therefore, why I think this character is immature. if you cant define what maturity/immaturity is - you might want to figure that out.
I am only 10 eps on, so far it’s the latter (mostly cause fl is very young/immature). We’ll see if she matures…
I am close-minded because my definition of maturity has to do with having life experience (of which this character has very little)- how do you define maturity? I also find it odd that you seem to think being immature is a negative or a bad thing.
I am only 10 eps on, so far it’s the latter (mostly cause fl is very young/immature). We’ll see if she matures…
no, I dont. But again - how mature were you at 21 or most people - not very. this is not a character that has had a lot lot life experience - which is where maturity comes from - so, yes, she is immature.
Just finished this and its pretty good Liked all the charcuterie - just wish FL had been a bit edgier - but that’s just me (the whole “nice’ thing just drives me crazy) You are soooo gonna hate Soomin and MinHwan - but your supposed to - so, kudos to actors - they did a fantastic job Really could have done without bringing in the ex-fiance at the end - it just didn’t add anything and for many reasons - made no sense Not sure if something is wrong with PMY - but man did she look gaunt and tired through most of this - just not healthy at all - i get the whole weird obsession in Asian culture for the pale/white skin - but this was more than that - she just didn’t look well to me (which was ok for the beginning, but not after she goes back) And one piece I had to just let go was the idea that they went back 10yrs - yet all the same stuff is happening??? Didn’t quite square up for me - but, hey, its a drama and you just have to go with it
Just finished this and have to say - it was quite interesting - not your usual romance drama - in a good way. More historical drama than romance really - its more of story about her redemption journey I find it very interesting that the poster/picture for this is with Zhou Ye and Pang Chue Ye, given he isn’t the main ‘love’ interest in this by far - he really is a support role, especially in the second half - so that kid of threw me cause I kept expecting them to get back together. Can’t say I really liked that he ends up with Mu Yao - she was kind of awful - in bth timelines. I have a personal pet peeve with do-over story lines - in that they always have the person so miopically focused on what had originally happened and cant move off that - while ignoring all the signs that the narrative has already changed - in her case, she immediately starts to notice people who weren’t there previously and that things aren’t not progressing as before - AND YET, she cant let go of making decisions based on what had happened before. It’s just a bit annoying to me because it doesnt track and it makes the character seem a bit stupid. Wish they had spent more time at the end of her coming back and dealing with reality - I felt a bit shortchanged on that front.
Just gonna save you all some time - just no. Move along and dont even bother - unless you like being completely annoyed at all the main characters and like stupid FL’s, manipulative male leads (both of them) - some seriously stupid misunderstandings caused by a f*cking parrot (my head still hurts from this one) - just dont event bother.
Just finished this and let me save you the frustration. This has to be one of the more insufferable dramas out there right now. FL spends a msojority of the drama looking pissed off or with this sad/wistful. melancholy expression on her face - its a pure example of RBF if I have ever seen one. She is this way to about ep 20+ then a single moment of epiphany and the switch flips to a weird lovey-dovey time period - only to revert back 10 eps later. She was truly one of the most unlivable FL’s i have watched. Sooo hated the pairing of the cousin and her coworker - just a HUGE maturity gap happening there - cousin was just the epitome of the spoiled little rich girl and she never really grows up - this pairing just made NO sense whatsoever and didn’t add a single thing to the overall story. Didnt so much mind the 3rd pairing - it was definitely more interesting than the cousin/wei relationship lots of contrived drama and overly dramatic music that was just stupid Leads romance was so imbalanced - he does all the chasing and work, she doesn't give much to the relationship You do get why she is insufferable though- cause her entire family is insufferble It really was just an annoying watch all the way around - save yourself the headache and go watch something else
