On Mr. Bad Feb 10, 2024
Title Mr. Bad
While sweet - its gets very cringey at points - especially because the FL doesnt do romantic very well - she is super-stiff - always looks like she is about to jump out of her skin, scared while kissing.
ML basically carries the show
Was nice to not have any stupid love triangles
My question to the writers/directors - why do you always make women who are athletic not be able to dress well. The styling of a mix between tomboy and old-lady (my god - the HUGE grandma collars on some her clothing was just insane) was just awful.
It also just annoyed me that they introduce the FL - literally taking down muggers - then immediately turn her into this awkward, insecure idiot with a severe panic disorder - it was just disappointing given how they introduce her.
On Extremely Perilous Love Feb 6, 2024
Short, kind of stupid and ludicrous at times.
Some good kissing scenes
Dumb as rocks FL who will give you mental whiplash (just bad writing for this character)
Luckily this is short and quick so not a bad watch for a one-time viewing

It started off okay but slowly derailed in quality and direction by episode 15 and up. The story was simple enough…
Couldn’t agree more on your second point - I was struggling to put a finger on why this relationship didn’t work for me and you nailed it. All the work in the relationship was on one-side and it made it imbalanced

It's always difficult to balance the plot for everyone; for me, the first episodes were completely enchanting.…
i would agree that the early episodes were good - they just dragged that story arc out waaaayyy too long
On The Last Immortal Feb 4, 2024
Just finished this up and would just say that if you like this genre - give it go - but dont expect much from it. it’s basically a rehash of every xanxia out there and you have seen it a hundred times already (I mean they practically copied the ending of Ten Miles ffs)
I thought all the actors/actresses did a fine job with what a crappy script this was. It was all so predictable that it made it kind of boring. Doesn’t really get interesting until around ep25 and that is just too long to wait - that whole first story arc really only should have been the first 10 (at most) ep and then move on already. And, then, of course, the rushed ending because they dragged out the first part too long.

It’s crazy that you’re fat shaming
yes, there is something horribly wrong with shaming someone one about there looks - even a little. I don't care if they are an actress or not - its just not cool AT ALL!

Title A Journey to Love Spoiler
Just finished this and, overall, this is a really good one. Well written story and a wonderful cast. One of the better ensembles with the Liudao boys and Alan Feng in particular - his character was just THE BEST!
Was NOT prepared for the ending cause I didn’t come here and read comments before I started - not sure if that was a good thing or bad thing - cause, man - that sucked. And, I was also confused - whose kid was that at the end??? Cause we see them all riding together in the end - I am so confused.
One of the best FL characters out there - she was kick ass. Smart, beautiful, amazing fighter, independent - but learns how to love and be a part of a group - was such a great storyline.
One of the best relationships between leads - they were true equals and respected each other and had great care for each other - until they kissed and then it was pretty bad - that awful thing where the FL doesnt move her lips at all. It was just weird cause for the rest of it, they were so clearly intimate with each other, but just couldn’t carry it off when it came to this aspect of it.
While I did like this - I was reminded why I dont normally watch wuxia’s - just hate this idea that everyone has to die - its such a weird concept to me as a storytelling genre - I invest all this time and energy into these amazing characters and they built such a great narrative with his group - a true, loving bond - to just kill them all off at the end - just sucks! Why would I want to do that??
All that being said - if you like wuxia dramas -this one is pretty damn good
On Welcome to Samdal-ri Jan 25, 2024
Just finished this and would just say it’s ok - not bad, but not great either.
Where I had the hardest time with this is it felt like watching a bunch of grown-ass adults who dont know how to deal with their emotions/feeling - none of them. .
I could have gotten more behind the 3 sisters if they were in their 20’s and behaving this way - but they are in their 30’s ffs. (Well, the youngest is 29 - but she is actually the most mature)
Could not get behind the idea that this grown woman would throw away her career just because she was too embarrassed to let people know she got cheated on - so, she would rather people think she is abusing her power/bully than to let folks know she was cheated on - yeah, that makes sense. She then returns home and is just a ridiculous hot mess. I like this actress ALOT, but this character was not well written at all and I couldn’t feel a whole lot of compassion for her.
Why she was so afraid of the ML’s dad - just never made sense to me
ML’s dad was probably one of the most annoying characters - such an emotional infantile - just absolutely childish/seflish in his actions/behavior - to then ‘redeem’ him almost instantaneously at the end was just gross.
FL’s mom - that overly, prideful stubbornness - although I LOVED that she kept telling her daughters (who have been completely absent from her life for the last 10yrs) - its my body, my choice and to basically shut the F*ck up about it - she was kind of kick ass in many ways
So didn’t need the whole Sangdo crush storyline - it just made no sense and added nothing to the story
The aunties gangs on the 4-wheelers were the best!
All of these people have serious drinking problems - the amount of alcohol consumption was a bit disturbing
Way too much hitting/biting of each other - again, kind of disturbing. At one point the mom comes in and starts slapping the FL and yelling at her as to why she let this woman hit her?? Umm, maybe cause you have been hitting her her whole life and she thinks this is normal????
ML is cute and we love Ji Chang Wook - but, man, he was such an enabler and caretaker (which he does finally acknowledge and try to move on at the end) - but it was not enjoyable to watch.
On My Demon Jan 23, 2024
Title My Demon
Just finished it and would just say its ok to good.
Leads have good chemistry and their story is pretty good (enjoyed the back story more than then the current one)
Some good humor in the first half
Could have so done without the assistants love story - was kind of funny at the beginning - but that was really all we needed and kind of pointless to the story after that (and VERY cringey)
Gets draggy after the first half
Some serious plot holes in the second half
Basically - first half is kind of fun, some good banter and good pace and then second half gets serious and draggy. Found myself not even caring if they got back together in the end.
AND, can we stop with putting the short woman in the 6in, platform stiletto heels - it was kind of ridiculous - its a contradiction - you want the tiny woman, but them you stick her in these ridiculously high heels to be taller - make up your mind! Given that, was grateful given how tall Song Kang is - it made them more compatible instead of that extreme height difference that they like to do in these dramas (which drive me bonkers)
While I mostly enjoyed the FL character - I couldn't help thinking through most of it - how much she just really needed a good therapist - so much of her character is predicated on the fact that her parents died in a car accident - which for some reason she blames herself for. A good therapist would have helped her work through that grief and guilt instead of holding on to it for 17 yrs
I will say - there is one line in this drama that so perfectly sums things up - assistant says - I would rather have imperfect happiness instead of dealing with the uncomfortable truth - the aversion to dealing with uncomfortable emotions really does drive so many of these shows
On Love Is an Accident Jan 21, 2024
Just finished this and lets just say - its a bit of a hot mess - story wise.
Starts off kind of interesting, but by the halfway mark, it goes of the rails and a SUPER-sloppy ending
Another drama that is victim to bad directing and a bad script (so many damn plot holes and repetitive plot vices).
Lead actors are ok - although not a lot of chemistry and awkward kissing scenes (FL really needs to learn to move her lips and not just stand there). There is also a BIG imbalance in their relationship - so much of it is him chasing her, trying to appease her and not a lot going the other way.
FL character was confusing - she is not dumb, but not very clever and does that horrible thing of having to run into every situation so she can be with the ML - even when she cant help and even becomes a burden - it was annoying.
Did I believe she was a clothing designer - not really. She basically gets the job with the designer lady because the ML does all the work, but we do see her doing some actual needlework and cutting fabric - and her final designs were all awful.
I am also not a big fan of portraying women as big brats when they don't get their way and she got downright mean to him and I honestly had a hard time understanding what he liked about her
I also didn't buy she was a designer as someone who wore some pretty horrendous clothing a lot of the time - especially those stupid combat boots - for a small woman - they were just to much for her.
And can someone tell me how a guy from another world - can come and set up a business and be super-successful overnight - this just made NO sense whatsoever.
Did appreciate that they stayed in her world and not his - usually its the other way around
On The Undateables Jan 18, 2024
Just finished this and it was just ok. You will mostly just stick it out for Namkoong time.
Really did not care for the FL - didnt really care for the character from the get-go, hated how she was styled (the horrible makeup and bad hair were so distracting and not attractive at all).
She was bad at her job (ML basically figures everything out and does all the work), typical stubborn fl who gets hurt/mad, runs away and refuses to talk
The coach/cousin relationship was mostly pointless
Best characters were her dad, his stepmom and her boss (the whole leopard jacket thing was done perfectly!)
Could not have cared less about the zero couples -partly because i find the whole idea of what her job is a bit appalling and partly because the couples just werent that interesting
On Rising with the Wind Jan 10, 2024
Just finished this and for the most part i liked it - which was surprising, as I don’t generally enjoy these industry focused dramas - so, kudos to finally making one that was somewhat interesting.
I mostly liked the FL - I really enjoyed watching her figure out how to overcome her business obstacle - she was confident, feisty and could think outside the box. BUT, everywhere else in her life, she s a complete mess and sooooo childish and had a serious problem with drinking - this was a HUGE turnoff for me. She was also that horrible pride-ful stubbornness, I have to carry the world’s burdens on my shoulders and not let anyone help me girl - which I just find annoying. She was also that girl who got mad, threw an adult tantrum and then stayed mad, way longer than one should, given her age. I just had so many place where I was just truck by how low her EQ was - like, in the negatives.
And, then what was just weird - and I dont know if this was direction or what - but when they first start getting together/dating - every time he tries to kiss her - she physically recoils from - it wasn’t just being shy - it was a physical repulsion kind of thing - not sure if they were going for her being shy or what - but it was weird. And, i would then add, once they fully get together - she is the worst gf - so myopically focused on work
ML - for the most part was great - but the idea that he would not have told her about Aneda - just didn’t work, given he had been so upfront with her from the get-go
HATED the Zhiang Zhoa character - mostly just a dud - but the whole idea that she has a crush on this guy from high school (all because she thinks he did something he didn’t actually do) - doesn’t see or speak to him for ten years - finds out he is getting married and her reaction is to turn tight around and marry the guy next to her - I was like, WTF girl - you need some serious therapy. And, dont even get me started on her horrific mother.
Yang Jiana nd crew were just adorable - although they could have left out the part where Wu gets a crush on the FL - so unnecessary
Did love the ML’s mom and aunt - they were wonderful
HATED the uncle - just wanted to punch him every time he opened his mouth
Still never quite figured out who the kid’s parents were (maybe I just missed it) - he was cute, but seemed random

Thank you for this - saves me hours of painful drama time.
On Love Is Panacea Dec 29, 2023
On vacation and just watched this and man, that was bad - not awful, but pretty bad.
Mostly because it’s supposed to be a love story and there is ZERO chemistry between the leads (and man, does the actress need to learn how to kiss if she is going to continue doing these kids of roles - she is SOOOOO awkward and stiff)
It took WAAAAYYYY too long for her them to actually get together - like, well past the mid-point
I was so sick of her Debbie -downer/negative-nancy routine (which doesn’t really stop after they do get together) - that I, just ended up not really didn’t like this woman (the character) at all - I get it, she has been diagnosed with an incurable genetic disease and this would have made way more sense had we come to the story right after she found out - but 3yrs later and by the time they get married it’s even like 10yrs - it just didn’t work for me.
So much of the love story felt very one-sided - mostly the Ml chasing after her and doing all the emotional work - was so not a healthy relationship (emotionally) - LYX really carried the whole relationship
Medical stuff was ok - if that interests you and it wasn’t that heavy and luckily, singularly focused on a single medical issues - as opposed to many different ones that happen in medical dramas
On Wonderland of Love Dec 26, 2023
Just finished this and have to say - one of THE better dramas of 2023. And certainly the best performance by Xu Kai to date - he really hits of out of the park in this.
Overall kudos to every one for a well crafted drama and story - not perfect, by any means - but pretty damn good.
Leads had great chemistry - although I will take exception to the FL’s tactics (not her reasoning, but her tactics). It felt too much like emotional manipulation gone a bit too far in a few places and it didn’t sit well with me.
I am also not a big fan (of any character) that gets overly bratty and stubborn when upset and lets it go on for too long - especially when it’s not really the other person fault. I got mostly what she is angry at is herself and it is the guilt talking - but you dont then get to take it out on the other person. She just became mean and he was never allowed to be upset/mad about anything - which creates an inbalance in the relationship.
It only happens a few times - but it did put a sour taste in my mouth for what was otherwise a good relationship between the two.
REALLY enjoyed the ending - the got it right here - since, this is usually where most drama fail, big time, i have to give big props to how well they got it right in this one.
On Moon in the Day Dec 26, 2023
Well, that was a big let-down. I always wait to watch these until they are finished so I can binge them - but man, was this a disappointment. Good idea and starts off kind of cool and then slowly becomes so dumb.
Let’s start with the FL - they introduce her as this kick-ass firefighter who knows martial arts (and trains herself to be an assassin in her previous life) - awesome! I can get down with that. But then, no the writes decide to slowly devolve her into the wimpering, damsel-in-distress character. Soooo disspointing.
Then, why, WHY!!! Or maybe WHAT is the weird obsession with making these FL dress like they just came out of a second-hand thrift store - the awful mom-jeans and sweat pants - do they really think, just because she is firefighter, she can’t dress well?? And, then, just to appease us, they throw in this weird sene near the end of her on a blind date, where she is dressed in this killer red-dress and looks fabulous - I dont get it! I mostly hate the dress in issue because the ML is always just dressed spectacularly - it’s just so wrong.
While I enjoy the ML as an actor -this role was pretty flat. He did show some versatility when he is JunHo at the beginning- this was a departure from his normal roles and it was fun to watch. but we dont get it for that long and then he spends the rest of the drama with death stare look (which, in all fairness, he does VERy well)
Absolutely NO chemistry between the leads - more so in their previous life, but NONE, zero, zip in current times. And dont even get me started on the horrible kissing scenes - just, no.
Throw in a bunch of side characters that we could care less about, a lot of repetitiveness, unremarkable villains and you end up with a pretty mediocre (at best) show.
And its a shame - this could have been really good - but the writers and directors just failed on too many levels.
On Twilight Dec 19, 2023
Title Twilight
Interesting idea for a drama - but fails in execution.
First and foremost -the amount of annoying characters - like, everyone besides the main characters (with a few exceptions). - from her brother, and best friend, to his ‘brother’ and his girlfriend and the former boss guy - Lordy, did both of them just attract and surround themselves with the worst people.
The main relationship is kind of interesting - but no real chemistry between the two of them - a few moments here and there, but, mostly, none
Didn’t really get the point of the Chechen side-story - just felt like an add-on that didn’t serve any real purpose.
Could not have cared less about her brother and the best friend relationship - it was just stupid and annoying - he was a complete meathead and she was just whiney and a nag
You will get so annoyed by the ML and the Jia Zhen relationship - man was that guy a pos and you will be screaming that he doesn’t realize it and there is no real resolution to it (like, you want him to confront him or do something and he basically just lets him off the hook and they quietly drift apart - so not satisfying)
Then there is Jia Zhen and the girlfriend - she is almost worse with all her enabling - she knows he is doing all this crappy stuff and says NOTHING.
Basically - this is just one frustrating and annoying string of 40 episodes
One positive note - it was nice to see Ren play a more playful chararacter (in the beginning)
On Thousand Years for You Dec 16, 2023
Just finished this and cant understate enough how bad it is - I mean the ONLY reason you may want to watch it is if you are desperate for some REN time (he is truly a beautiful looking man) - otherwise - do not bother.
While I was intrigued but the idea of this - a xanxia set in Republic era could have been interesting - it failed on so many levels.
NO chemistry between the leads to start with - like, none.
I couldn’t get pass the initial premise of her drugging, kidnapping and basically blackmailing him into marrying her - so, from the get-go, i was offended.
FL just annoyed me to no end through most of it - whoever thought making a grown woman behave like a petulant teenager was somehow appealing, was just wrong. And I mostly found her character to be useless, not very clever and kind of pointless beyond just needing the FL in the scene - she keeps running into the middle of things when she has no ability to actually help or do anything. Also didn’t like that she becomes super-clingy in weird ways (very child-like). And lets not forget the stupid attempt to make her be a tom-boy running this gang where its just her basically throwing her leg up on a char or table to seem ‘tough’ - it just did not work at all.
ML kind of just dials it in - the directorial decision to just have him basically walk around with his hands in his pockets just delivering lines was bad. The styling decision of the pants tucked into the boots was distracting - he is wearing these beautifully tailored suits and then the loose pants poorly tucked into clumpy boots messes the whole look (as opposed to having fitted pants inside boots)
The decisions to have Beixi cut his hair at the beginning was awful - he looked so much better with longer hair.
The awful open ending - HATE it when they do this
Then there is the awful thing they like to do of wrapping up the, what has been the main story and villain early to them throw at us a whole new villain and story to rush through for the last few episodes - like, wth?
I could go on - but it just makes me annoyed at the whole thing.
