GL - This isn't a GL, but there is a positive sapphic character who is the FL's ally and confidante. Whether her inclusion was meant as a marketing tactic or for genuine representation is unclear. It could be either or both. Only the company knows for sure.
At least, she is not the usual "if I can't have you, no one can" type of sapphic character. She's sincere, smart & strategic, which is refreshing to see in a Thai historical drama usually riddled with damsels in distress. I usually don't watch Thai historicals for that reason, so maybe things have changed.
Since the pond scene, she's had very limited screentime but that goes for the rest of the concubines as well. This story is focused on Jinda and her rise to power after all.
And if they don't sleep with the king and get pregnant? Then? Use your brain properly, don't just run it. Also,…
I think you're taking my comment out of context from when it was posted, which was right after the episode where it seemed like Jinda might have an affair with Wamon.
In the next episode, it's shown Jinda chose not to, so it's clear she could have had an affair if she wanted to. This affair was also part of Wamon's father's plan, which ultimately failed—not for the reasons you mentioned, but because Jinda didn't want to be that kind of person. If Jinda could have had an affair, it’s not unreasonable to think the other concubines could as well.
In my comment, I mentioned having an affair 'around the same time' they slept with the king because doing so at any other time and getting pregnant would have been highly suspicious.
Also, it's possible to disagree with someone and state your thoughts without being rude or condescending.
no dna test. none of the other concubines thought to have another man's baby. just time the affair around the time they sleep with the king lol.
for someone who is king and took over a country, this guy isn't smart. he believes anything people tell him and is easily swayed. also, his life sucks. spends basically every waking moment either trying not to be killed, going after people trying to kill him or trying to crank out an heir.
main wife is probably the only good person but has the worse luck. first child - girl. second child - finally boy but disabled. third child - aborted.
everyone stressed and serious. the only one having a good time is tanyong lol.
so from the ost, sounds like neither men, her lover or father, care about jinda. that or they care more about power than her and she is just the means to get it. also from all the foreshadowing, guessing she eventually meets her demise, too.
Am I the only one who really liked Show Me Love? lol There was barely any toxicity, if any. They supported each other in the paths they were taking. Their lives didn't just revolve around each other. Their family and friends were important to them too and were super cute. For its time, it was a breath of fresh air from all the doom & gloom, toxic behaviors and unhealthy romances.
Love Bully was not great. I felt like it was forced & rushed to happen in time for Pride. It was still ok but would have been better if held off for later. I love Change though. Whether you like Club Friday stories (for what they are known for) or not, they've always treated the LGBTQ+ characters the same as the het characters, if not better.
I love mystery/thrillers and glad we're finally getting GLs w them. I'm excited for the director - very talented & total sweetheart & TV Thunder who has already done lgbtq stories, including one w a trans main character & asexual support character. What a dream collab.
I haven't finished the Pinky vers yet, as I wanna see how the 2024 version ends first. That way I can compare…
Oh, I know about the OST! I watched the Pinky version lol. ^^
I’ve come across some really interesting lakorn storylines too, but the video/audio quality can be rough. There’s one with Willy McIntosh where he and his love are reincarnated over multiple lifetimes. I tried so hard to watch it, but the quality made it impossible. I’m just hoping for a remake one day.
Stay strong lol! Resist the Pinky version until you finish Baifern's. I think you'll enjoy the story even more that way.
Baifern is amazing. Anyone criticizing her for playing certain roles just can’t separate the actor from the character. I actually love actors who take on a wide range of roles, not just the "goody two-shoes" ones. Grey characters, even bad ones, have so much more depth to me.
And the whole cast is really delivering! It’s one of the things that makes this lakorn so great.
Looks like there's 2 more eps. MDL updated it to 22 eps.

I'm enjoying the drama a lot. Hope you are too. Thong isn't our typical heroine, but that is why I love her lol.
Sad to say bye to her already in a few days. ONE has done a really REALLY amazing job with this remake. This coming from someone who also loves the Pinky version and was pessimistic going into this.
Spoiler. If you haven't watched Chaser Game Season 1, you'll want to avoid this.
I love Pleng for the same reason I love Chaser Game's Itsuki. Their love feels selfless compared to other GLs, where the relationships just come off as possessive or full of an unhealthy level of jealousy. Some jealousy is fine, but unhealthy levels are not. It shows immaturity, selfishness, distrust and insecurity, not passionate and romantic as they're portrayed to be in dramas.
But with Pleng and Itsuki, they would let the other person go if it meant the other person would be happier without them. Yeah, they're both wrong ofc lol but I can't help but love them because I completely understand their line of thinking.
Itsuki left Fuyu believing what Fuyu's mom said, that Fuyu could never live a happy life in a same-sex relationship given the society they lived in at the time of their breakup. With Pleng, she felt that she would be a burden to Wan and always be holding her back should she stay in her life. Pleng knows Wan would do anything for her. That's why she was upset about why Wan lied about her grades. It's just another reminder that Wan would always put Pleng before herself. In Pleng's goodbye letter to Wan, "I know you love me. But I also want you to love yourself."
Wan and Pleng both wield a double edged sword in that they'd sacrifice themselves for each other. When someone sacrifices, the other one suffers because of it. It's both the most frustrating and sweetest thing ever.
That's why I love them. And whenever I read people saying Pleng is annoying, I feel she's so misunderstood.
I love these types of stories. The last one I remember seeing is Tomorrow.
I am confused about some things. Demon Bitna sent an innocent person, human Bitna, to hell and doesn't seem at all remorseful. Also, is no one down there going to save human Bitna?
On ep2 and not quite the same charm as Season 1. Season 2 takes Khram & Taem to Samut Songkhram, a small rural province in Thailand, where Kram's friend, Chon, owns a farm/land there. Earth, the son of a wealthy business owner, is sent there to acquire land for commercial development. I think there may be some BL undertones here as there is some tension between Chon & Earth. Not sure.
There is still the cooking and support characters from Season 1, both of which are what I love and adore about the drama. But the focus so far seems to be more on Earth's mission to acquire land. As these stories go, he'll get a change of heart after he understands the charming way of life there. Not that it's not a good theme, just that it's overdone by Thai PBS. The previous similarly themed ones are still very fresh in my mind.
I was really looking forward to this, but unfortunately, it feels like a different story than the one I fell in love with.
I may continue watching this later on and will update if so.
12 eps in and it gets even better. I watch 2 eps at a time now lol.
Other than the first guy (sorry Kao, love you), the guys are really well written and the actors are slaying their roles.
The dark comedy in this is brilliant and well timed, too. Somehow they're able to make an extremely dark story feel light. Writers, please take your bows.
Really glad One is stepping it up for Thai dramas this year.
Indonesia SOLD OUT. So any country this goes to and there's only a handful of showings, you should probably get tickets as soon as they become available. The last seats that were available for purchase at TIFF (Toronto) were on the last day, at the very front.

The poster is gorgeous as well as the costumes and settings for this drama. Just ONE going all out on a drama again this year.

Looks fun. This is like the 6th drama airing on ONE I'm gonna be watching lol.

"I once intended to seize the throne for my beloved, but now I understand that when power is in someone's hands, even a good person can turn evil."
I'M SO READY FOR THIS. LET'S GOOOO.

For now, I'd say it's an okay watch: 7-7.5/10
