Moderately good for a vertical drama
This was a fine background drama while my mind wandered, full of lies on top of lies on top of misunderstandings that wrapped up with contrivances, but with pretty decent acting from the leads.
There were some very sweet moments in between exposition dumps and random attempts at comedy. Grandpa got on my nerves with his excess goofiness. The plot and relationship pacing was random - either too fast or too slow. And the villains were all over the map in terms of villaining and acting quality.
The lead actors were good, though. Du Yu Chen did good work with the dramatic, emotional moments even when they made no sense because the plot was so random. Guan Yue's charm is more evident here where he doesn't have to play expressionless. He's quite good at quietly funny moments.
All my complaints aside, it was less ridiculous than some verticals so I'm not mad I watched it.
