Yes, very popular. A lot of newer kdrama fans consider BOF as the beginning of the growth of kdramas abroad but Jewel in the Palace was one of the first kdramas to make it big abroad and get the world interested in Korea and Kdramas. It was also huge in Korea (It got over 50% in ratings).

Rating tanking for no reason, homophobia!!! This is good y’all! And I read (well reading since it is ongoing) the webtoon and think this is just as good. People need to get over everything not being exactly the same lol. This drama still keeps the overall essence and feeling of the webtoon and hits the Major plot points so far.
